Fun fact : Even after the whole ordeal of Tommy trying to take down Doug’s review of The Room, They’re now both on good terms with each other nowadays. Even doing a one-off Shut Up and Talk episode together and Doug managing to get Tommy’s filmmaking partner in crime Greg Sestero to guest star in NC’s review of the Best F(r)iends duology as well as getting a cameo in one of the commercial specials. That’s neat
For some reason, I can't help but think of a Red Dead Redemption 2 version of the "You're tearing me APART, Lisa!" scene. "After all I've done for you, you show me doubt?! Have faith in the PLAN, Arthur!" "Why're you gettin' so hysterical, Dutch?"
"What Kind of Movie is this?" It's Wiseau, that's all it is it's pure Wiseau, there's no other way to describe him and the film he's his own brand, his own feeling, his own emotion just everything
Looks like Doug's mind survived the Room, while Lupa, Linkara and Spoony succumbed to the madness and stupidity. Maybe it was his older self taking him to the future that saved him.
To be honest, it is painful to go back and watch the crossover reviews from before 2018 simply because of how the majority of those reviewers absolutely despise Doug nowadays, with the exception of Brad and James (and maybe Andre the Black Nerd? idk, I don't see him in later episodes, but I vaguely remember seeing him in a group photo with Doug after the controversy broke out)
He was taking his anger out on Wiseau, because of how bad a director he was. The actor of Denny was genuinely scared of Chris R in real life, because he knew the acting was real.
I love both the book and film version of The Disaster Artist. Greg Sestero said by the time they got to filming the final scenes, he was so worn down and jaded by the insane filmmaking circumstances that he basically phoned in his performance.
My favorite quote about this movie: "I did not write a black comedy. This movie IS a black comedy." Allegedly Tommy said those words, possibly also emphasizing WRITE or at least _intending_ to... Okay, possibly a _normal_ human would...
Yeah. Tommy Wiseau really butchered the book while somehow still keeping it faithful. Prima Aprilis must be turning in his grave. All joking aside, that April Fools joke was very well done. I almost believed it was actually a book, and Dom somehow made the story of The Room not seem ridiculous.
I got to meet Greg Sestero (and he signed my copy of The Disaster Artist, his book about what it was like making The Room) at a Room screening. This movie is terrible, but it's a movie that can truly be enjoyed in the company of a bunch of people who know what it is, and are laughing at it together. I recommend everyone go to at least one, it's kind of like an introductory-level Rocky Horror experience
I had to share the role of Mushu with another girl in my tenth grade class's production of Mulan. If you guys could've seen it, you would've seen that my performance as Mushu for the first thirty five minutes of that play was 100x better than any of the acting in The Room, especially Tommy Wiseau!
@@jeuryrabassa4724 I knew it was a while when Nate first reacted to this, but I had no idea it was almost 8 years (I looked it up and it was December of 2016). I love how this reaction is a perfect mix of old and new. You have Nate, who reacted to this already, Nick, who's seen the movie, but not Doug's review, and Kate, who's never seen The Room to begin with.
I'm glad someone mentioned the Toonami Return prank from 2012. That prank was golden. The Room aired for 3 years straight. In 2009, The Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! aired right after, the episode Tommy aired, which starred Tommy Wiseau who was also the director of The Room. In 2010, they aired the movie on repeat from midnight until 5am. In 2011, they aired The Room, followed by a CGI short called Earth Ghost.
The remake having a 30-year-old play Denny is hilarious, as Greg's book states that Denny's actor in the original was actually one of the oldest actors in the film and he was playing the youngest character.
I remember watching the original reaction to this review on the channel years ago - nice to see it come around again for you to rewatch with Nic and Kate. Also, I think it’d be great for you to show Nic and Kate the Joker audition tape video Tommy Wiseau did a few years back that I think you did a reaction to as well. Given that Nic already has history with watching the Room, I’m positive he’d laugh his ass off if he saw it, which would be extremely entertaining and hilarious to watch😅.
I recently saw a video about the adaptation of the disaster artist and I’m going to honest it’s made see the room a little different as it very apparent that Tommy was actually a very toxic friend to Sestero for a majority of their time together and he didn’t respond well to him confronting him about it so in a sense the whole plotline of mark betraying Johnny his a manifestation of what Tommy fears he will do to him one day.
I have lost count of how many times I've seen Dougs review of the movie and haven't watched the whole thing myself. However, the next time I have a good friend come over, he and I are gonna watch it together. probably gonna have a drink or two while at it, god knows we are gonna need it. i'm most likely gonna be adding a small edit to this comment after having watched it.

The guy that played Chris R (the drug dealer) is the only dude that actually felt like he cared about his acting performance.
He was taking his anger out on Wiseau, because of how bad a director he was. The actor of Denny was genuinely scared of Chris R in real life, because he knew the acting was real.

You won't believe this, but The Room is based on a 1976 novel called "The Room I Died In" and Dominic Noble did a video on it for April Fools Day.
Yeah. Tommy Wiseau really butchered the book while somehow still keeping it faithful. Prima Aprilis must be turning in his grave.
