YES post 16 teaches u new forms of grief that you didnt know were possible. YES it is harder than gcses. YES you will cry your eyes out down the phone to someone who doesnt have a fucking clue what youre on about. but your teachers will treat you like a human being. and you will never have to sit [LEAST FAVOURITE SUBJECT] again. year 13 exam season was the most hectic few months of my life, but i genuinely swear i would rather go through college than gcses in a HEARTBEAT. TIPS FOR SURVIVING POST 16: the local shop down the road is your best friend [if it's a co-op? get the member's card asap. otherwise they'll scam u BIG TIME] your best friends are also your best friend. make time for them study periods are not optional. you won't do the work in the common room. 45 minutes of staring at slides and 15 minutes of doing slides is better than 60 minutes of absolute nothing. find a space that you and your friends can zone out in. for me it was the drama studios. when we had frees together we'd just sit on the floor and chat. during study leave? find a room that is empty more often than it's booked [meeting rooms, special ed classrooms, seminar rooms, etc] and camp out there. you won't revise at home so dont try to. teachers honestly DONT care if they open a door and see 3-8 sixth formers crying into a blank page. they see it every year. these 'study rooms' are also great because you can listen to music/stretch/leave whenever you need to. eat well and be nice and you'll be fine xoxo
