I started watching Barry Evans in the series Mind Your Language and now watching this series. Barry Evans is a impressive actor! It was very sad reading about his death. If he had lived he could of been in a few series in the early 2000's and we could use more actors with his kind of talent these days.

I can't believe this is here, I came here after watching a video on top 25 British sitcoms, and wondering where this was! So I decided to type it in to see if at least someone might have some clips of it, never expecting to find full episodes though!
I remember watching this as a kid in about 1980 or so, on CBC, a Canadian channel, from Michigan in the US! It and Doctor Who were my first taste of British tv! Funny that the head of them in this, played on Doctor Who as well, lol!
I still can't believe I actually remembered each of the main characters names!

This was filmed in an actual hospital - Wanstead Hospital. As for the scripts, they were written by Graham Chapman who studied medicine at Emmanuel College, Cambridge and Graeme Garden (who QUALIFIED in medicine) also wrote the subsequent series Doctor At Large (which ran from February to September 1971 incidentally) and Doctor In Charge. Arguably, the Doctor series of sitcoms was the benchmark for future medical sitcoms.

Thank You for the list. Excellent! Doctor in the house (tv) is my all time favourite. I've read many years ago that the actors were paid a royalty every time the BBC aired a film and so the BBC destroyed many films pre-1980's eg Doctor Who, Steptoe and son to save money. In wikipedia they give the reason for the destroyed films as deterioration in the storage archives. But i believe the BBC went on a severe austerity drive after the oil crisis of 1973, causing stagflation and severe unemployment, resulting in government departments cutting spending. It's a pity, if all those destroyed films survived today they would be earning the producers and the government a steady income on RUclips.

One of the episodes John Cleese wrote for the the sequel series, Doctor at Large, was called No Ill Feeling!, and featured early versions of some of the characters who would later populate Fawlty Towers. The innkeeper and wife were based on a couple that ran an inn where the Monty Python cast and crew stayed while shooting exteriors in Torquay.
