Playing with Messi must be such a delight. His assisting has made so many players look even better than they were. Players like Bojan and Tello for example profited so much from the way Messi would assist them. A whole defence would tunnel vision on Messi. He's on the ball, what will he do? Is he going to attempt to dribble through us? Go left? Right? Shoot? Give a pass? Turn around? Slow down the tempo? Accelerate? Link up with someone and do a 1-2? It's really unpredictable what would happen with Messi on the ball. He's so insanely hard to defend because of how many options he has. With a whole defence focussed on him and him giving a crisp pass at the exact right time, with the exact right speed, into the exact right pocket of space, forcing a teammate to run for it. That would give his teammate so much space and relatively a lot time to make a decision. He'd create time and space for his teammates and that would make them look even better because they'd have opportunities they wouldn't get with other players assisting them. Messi would also find them a lot more than any other player. Playing with Messi must be such a delight. His assisting has made so many players look even better than they were. Players like Bojan and Tello for example profited so much from the way Messi would assist them.
A whole defence would tunnel vision on Messi. He's on the ball, what will he do? Is he going to attempt to dribble through us? Go left? Right? Shoot? Give a pass? Turn around? Slow down the tempo? Accelerate? Link up with someone and do a 1-2? It's really unpredictable what would happen with Messi on the ball. He's so insanely hard to defend because of how many options he has.
With a whole defence focussed on him and him giving a crisp pass at the exact right time, with the exact right speed, into the exact right pocket of space, forcing a teammate to run for it. That would give his teammate so much space and relatively a lot time to make a decision. He'd create time and space for his teammates and that would make them look even better because they'd have opportunities they wouldn't get with other players assisting them. Messi would also find them a lot more than any other player. Also merely due to the sheer amount of Messi attempted assists and the amount of the assists actually reaching a teammate, it would just give them so many chances.
