They are both wonderful! In first Kata Chatanyara Kushanku they are so great in a different ways -Sandra is precise and powerful like a lioness, Kiyou is fast, fluid and somehow fragile, which is amazing. In second round Kiyou is just perfect, but honestly Sandra here gives it all, you can feel how Karate's essence of "one fist one kill" / "ikken hissatsu" comes to truth in her kata. Oss!
NOBODY can separate these two superlative athletes, martial artists merely based on their technical performances. It comes down to personal favorites! I am in awe of Sensei Sanchez but I'm in LOVE with Sensei Shimizu! So, there!
I didn’t see their prior kata performances, but based on the tie breaker...Ms. Sanchez blew Ms. Shimizu off the mat! One of the most difficult kata ever is Suparinpei and Ms. Sanchez nailed every single technique with power and snap! Damn! What a performance! Hands down she is the winner!
@@JD-ww2ri After watching both on the same katas I can feel the force of the dragon in Sandra and the gracile of a heron in Rika. If I had to choose for a fight the answer is obvious.
Brilliant! I don't envy the Judges. Two excellent Karatekas! At the end it's heartening to see how they have the utmost respect for each other despite the obvious rivalry.
Sandra's kata is full of emotion like anger which causes stiff shoulder and hard movement causing loss of power. On the other hand, Kiyou is basically calm in her spirit and gets powerful on the point of attack. I think it is the point and you can understand looking at their faces. Strong attack comes from loosen muscle.
@@italopetrucci8814-san, Thanks for your comment. It helps me understanding her Karate. She is quite excellent and will be top class in coming Olympic game.
I think you are biased, Sandra it's not stiff but precise and powerful, we always want the country of origin being best but that's not the case gor this one. Only looking at the performances you can tell the difference even knowing nothing about kata, but the judges that are the experts here took a decision so i don't rely on random coments on ytb
Kiyou should have won the first set already. More stable, controlled breathing, controlled emotion and great stopping execution. Spain on the other is powerful. Consistent power too! I just see more breathing movements there. I give credits to both for great world class performance. 💪😆

I was thinking the performances style of Kata only for Japanese to understand every concentrated movement (from the spiritual energy) but very amazed and surprised the Spanish Sandra performances she knew well, just to know the whole world appreciate the breathing and action sounds of Kata style.
Sandra Sanchez (ESP) deserved it with the moves, style, ENERGY she put in the kata and all was simply too perfect. But again I am not the judge, just my opinion.

Simply incredible. Both are so good! For my condition of Spaniard, it is an honor to have karate people like Sandra Sánchez, and it is another honor to be in the final against Japan... again: ruclips.net/video/IBj9j3BRzZA/видео.html
I still can't decide who was the better between both. Clearly both were EQUAL in all aspects. It's the Mutual Respect between them all that's the winner for me.
I practice shorin ryu karatedo for more than 45 years...i am.asian too.i saw the spanish woman winning the contest- her execution was more graceful and crisp than the japanese woman's

Both of them are amazing. Marvelous performances, I have a special something with Passai Dai, so seeing this Tomari no Passai, vas a delight, it is beautiful.
Sorry but Sanchez's chatanyara was a way better than Shimizu's... she shows her dachies and techniques too clear... how can they show Shimizu as winner when they have same score... ppl must be fair!!!....
It's painfully obvious there was bias for Kiyou Shimizu as evidenced by declaring her winner when they clearly tied. The fix was in. It didn't matter how awesome Sandra was, Kiyou Shimizu was going to win, apparently. Unless I missed something, Sandra's katas are exceptional in that they are quick without being sloppy or wavering. They have power and snap. Just listen to the air whip when she chambers and strikes, it's awesome. Then watch Kiyou, who is quick, but to me lacks power and her strikes and chambers don't snap all the time. I get the calm composure of Kiyou, but one of the purposes of kata is a display of battle. Sandra's expression perfectly matches the expression of one who was truly striking, truly blocking. Sandra believed she was attacking people and thus *I* believed she was attacking people. With Kiyou, it was more like a demonstration to students on how to perform the kata. Calm, collected, breathing. But, unless someone can point out exactly what it is that Kiyou did that was so amazing that it toppled Sandra, I am going to have to say it was rigged.
This. It was rigged. The Japanese crowd wanted to see a Japanese world champ, and since it is a show, the people's needs must be served. The emperor very rarely shown thumbs down when the whole crowd cheered for thumbs up and vica versa.
Incredible, "Why aren't they fighting?" They are fighting, their soul and heart is being poured into this very moment. There is more to a champion than knocking someone out.
