They are both wonderful! In first Kata Chatanyara Kushanku they are so great in a different ways -Sandra is precise and powerful like a lioness, Kiyou is fast, fluid and somehow fragile, which is amazing. In second round Kiyou is just perfect, but honestly Sandra here gives it all, you can feel how Karate's essence of "one fist one kill" / "ikken hissatsu" comes to truth in her kata. Oss!

Sandra's kata is full of emotion like anger which causes stiff shoulder and hard movement causing loss of power. On the other hand, Kiyou is basically calm in her spirit and gets powerful on the point of attack. I think it is the point and you can understand looking at their faces. Strong attack comes from loosen muscle.

I think you are biased, Sandra it's not stiff but precise and powerful, we always want the country of origin being best but that's not the case gor this one. Only looking at the performances you can tell the difference even knowing nothing about kata, but the judges that are the experts here took a decision so i don't rely on random coments on ytb

    The commentary is a joke.
The Japanese is doing far more better. Though both aren’t doing martial art.
Note the front kick and the palm of foot where intended contact happen. The Japanese kick is slower and weaker but the angle will do damage.
The westerner is merely a fast and powerful move but the damage is as good as a baby kiss.
When there is an action of sinking down. The Japanese maintains the hip position steady but the westerner dropped down. That shows no foundation of work at all.
When doing spare hand, the Japanese is downward. This is simple and no brainer. But the westerner is doing horizontally and that is brain dead.
There are a lot more details in the Japanese move and not seen in the westerner. Perhaps these details were never taught to foreigners at all.
Despite all that, these stupid kata had long departed from martial art. No matter how realistic it looks.
Unlike others to deny kata. I believe kata is part of karate. The problem is not kata but sports competition. Martial art can’t be judged and graded like gymnastic.
It’s not supposed to be beautiful, uniform, harmony, or fancy. The old style kata are way much ugly. People look at kata performance and judge the level of the performer.
At sports karate, it only judge if the kata dance meet requirement and not the martial art underneath the performance.
Shitoryu kata is never right. It mimic shotokan and gojuryu without foundation training. It’s always a dance and not the real thing. Probably the generation carried the look of the kata from very best masters. But they were never trained like those masters hence it’s only the look without steel bone beneath it.

It's painfully obvious there was bias for Kiyou Shimizu as evidenced by declaring her winner when they clearly tied. The fix was in. It didn't matter how awesome Sandra was, Kiyou Shimizu was going to win, apparently.
Unless I missed something, Sandra's katas are exceptional in that they are quick without being sloppy or wavering. They have power and snap. Just listen to the air whip when she chambers and strikes, it's awesome. Then watch Kiyou, who is quick, but to me lacks power and her strikes and chambers don't snap all the time. I get the calm composure of Kiyou, but one of the purposes of kata is a display of battle. Sandra's expression perfectly matches the expression of one who was truly striking, truly blocking. Sandra believed she was attacking people and thus *I* believed she was attacking people. With Kiyou, it was more like a demonstration to students on how to perform the kata. Calm, collected, breathing.
But, unless someone can point out exactly what it is that Kiyou did that was so amazing that it toppled Sandra, I am going to have to say it was rigged.

    • @Senee628
      @Senee628 4 года назад +1

This. It was rigged. The Japanese crowd wanted to see a Japanese world champ, and since it is a show, the people's needs must be served.

Both were fantastic. Don't know why the Japanese won. They could have shared the gold medal.

Sandra Sanchez (ESP) deserved it with the moves, style, ENERGY she put in the kata and all was simply too perfect. But again I am not the judge, just my opinion.

Nobody beats Rika Usami for Chatanyara Kushanku. Too Slow. What is the commentator talking about. It is not perfection. Go watch Rika Usami.

The Goddess of Kata is Rika Usami. You can see how all these Karateka they don't have the true essence of Karate in them. They are filled with desire of just wanting to win. The value isnt in them. The Zen and The aura isn't there. So different from Rika Usami. Its not just about the movements or knowledge. It's just like Michael Jackson. Nobody can ever do a better moonwalk or forms than Michael Jackson.

Bruce Lee would call this "The Classical Mess" that he talked about. That's why he never taught this crap to his students. He believed that if it didn't prepare you in real life combat then get rid of it. All this is good for show; nothing less and nothing more! 💯💯👍👍😁😍

This is the shame of martial arts. This silly flexing dance. They would each get destroyed by a low level female ufc fighter. Judo is real at least. Even Pro Wrestling is better than this rubbish.
