A restraining order is simply a piece of paper. A piece of paper cannot protect you. Straight from the police. Get armed. Get training. Protect yourself and your loved ones.

I have a friend who dealt with a stalker. Similar things to this story, a court ordered protection order and the threats were still coming and the guy would drive by my friend's sister's house. He got some friends, found the man, beat the heck out of him and explained what would be next if there was one more threat, contact, etc. My friend's sister has never seen or heard from the guy again, and that was about 20 years ago. FYI.

Well, good for that brother! That's exactly what he needed to do.
I knew of a young lady decades ago. She started to have a problem with a stalker. The cops basically told her she should move away, and "disappear". She moved to a big city. It was before the internet, so not so easy to find someone.
It's too bad this couple didn't get a super security system, guard dog and gun, to shoot this guy on site if he came on their property.
Hopefully, this will alert others to how dangerous stalkers are, so they can either move elsewhere, or get high security.

This is such a nightmare!! I had to stop posting on my stories the same day- I never thought I would actually have to worry about someone following me but I met this guy on a camping trip and he was nice but really intense- I made it clear I wasn’t interested. I declined to give him my number but said he could follow me on social media. He sends me several messages, comments on photos, says weird stuff like ‘she’s with me’. Totally creeps me out. I never follow him back but I was scared to block him, I didn’t want him to be mad if I ran into him again. And I did. The very next time I was in that area, I just waved and said I was heading out. So creepy and I started to think maybe he lives out there in those woods. So I stopped going. Fast forward a few weeks and I’m leaving a hike in a REMOTE AREA with poor service- I didn’t even think when I posted the sunrise to my story before I left... this man shows up in the middle of nowhere. Oh ‘hey what a coincidence…’ no. No; no it was not. I was so scared and just tried to act like I didn’t know what was up just to get out of there. Now, I never ever post anything about my location until I’m long gone. The point is there are some REAL creeps out there, you don’t think it would happen to you but do everything you can to stay safe but even then.. The worst part is the HOA president was trying to intercept and protect her. I reported them both and sent the videos to property management. And, for the moment, everything is peaceful. I had to go to court last year to ask for a PPO against a customer where I worked. I went to court and I had to read all the threats that were sent to me repeatedly. Threats that included they were going to give me a permanent head injury and that they watch me and will wait for the perfect time to attack. A SGT at the Sheriffs department ( now a Captain) took my original report and advised that I seek the PPO. The stalker I had been told has stalked before and actually served jail time for it. So I just got a phone call yesterday from the Deputy County Attorney here saying she extended the PPO another 6 months. But further jury trial for this crazy at this time would not be sought after. I asked about why the stalkers previous jail time for stalking someone else couldn’t be taken into account and the attorney said they can’t include PRIOR BAD ACTS! So I guess like usual the authorities will wait until the stalker kills someone before you can use their past against them. The system is so flawed😢

Because anyone can say that you are "stalking" them for any reason. You cant just lock people up, because someone accused them of something.
There was a hearing scheduled, so the petitioner can prove that their accusation is true.
What do you mean by "this level of stalking"?
Until he murdered them, all he really did was harass the woman, and her husband, through voicemail. He didnt threaten violence. So you think iof someone is leaving too many voicemails, they should be locked up? Your comment isnt rational. Its just emotional nonsense.
The VAST majority of weirdoes like this murderer, back off when a restraining order is granted. The VAST majority of those who dont back off, still only call and sit around watching from the street or whatever, and those people do get locked up.
People like this murderer are RARE. It isnt common that stalkers actually murder the people they are stalking. In fact, it is so rare, that it makes the news when it happens.
No, we should NOT be locking people up "right off the bat". That is insane. If people feel that they are truly in danger, then they should do everything that this woman and her husband did, PLUS get a firearm, and take care of the stalker themselves if it comes to that. We cant just "lock people up right off the bat", because just as there are insane people like this murderer who stalk people and kill them, there are even more insane people who use over the top laws like this to hurt innocent people. Would you appreciate it if your idea becomes law, then you break up with a partner and to get back at you, they claim that you are stalking them so you are thrown in jail, having your entire life ruined for spite?
You have to think it through, when you want to give not only the Government more power, but also ordinary people the ability to abuse that power. This is exactly the reason "Red Flag" laws are so bad. They are unconstitutional, and they create more harm, than they save anyone. The bad outweighs any of the supposed good they are trying to make,.

Terrifying would be if he repeatedly stalked your house, took photos of you, contacted you repeatedly at various places like at home, at work, by phone, and not just stopping by your place one time. I'm autistic and I've been accused of stalking people before simply because they never told me not to come by! Basically my homeboy ghosted me and he never told me not to come by, and I kept on stopping by looking for him and everybody started talking about me and he was telling people I was a stalker. I was like, what the f***. LOL. I wasn't diagnosed with autism until I was almost 40 years old! Evidently this behavior is very common amongst autistic people. He recently got out of prison, too. He contacted me on social media even though he's not supposed to be on there because he's a sex offender, and he told me how he been reaching out to my parents and all this crazy s*** and my parents told me that he'd been mailing me letters over the years were they just threw them all away. I had an opposite case, a woman I hadn't talked to in 12 years got a restraining order filled with lies, showed up to where I was and told even more lies, they said 'doesn't matter' to everything I said, the lawyer said there was no grounds for a restraining order, but just plead guilty and take the punishment

What should you do if you have a stalker and it's getting out of control? Buy a firearm and learn how to use it in a self defense manner from a professional NRA instructor. Also Install the best alarm system you can afford. The police cannot be everywhere all the time!

Don't forget a dog and by that I mean a real dog not these little yapping rats! Then get a gun revolvers are best for home protection you never have to check if there's one in the chamber and keeping it loaded does not damage the recoil spring or the spring in your clip!

This exactly why every law abiding citizen should own a firearm. You are in charge of you and your family’s safety. Law enforcement is great but they can’t get to you in time in a situation like this.

This hits close to home. I just lost a dear childhood friend to murder/suicide by her ex-husband. They were going through a rough divorce and despite having evidence of previous harrassment/domestic abuse AND a protective order, the police couldn't take action unless he showed up on the property again. Well the next time he did, he brought a gun, shot her, and then himself. She leaves behind a teenage son. 😢

I hope the boy can pull thru and be strong. I'm sorry to him, I can't imagine losing not one but both parents and at the hands of one of the parents. If possible give him a hug for me, obviously that won't fix it all, but he needs extra love and hugs and support right now for sure. Rip to his parents, I wish they could have worked thru it. Let's just thank God the boy was ok. 🩷

“He found phone numbers for friends she never even told him about” that’s disturbing as hell no doubt but that’s also why social media is a blight on the world, you don’t have to tell anybody anything about yourself. If someone decides they want to know everything about you and you regularly post on social media, nothing is gonna stop them

A stalker has been stalking me from an online group. I never gave him my address, yet he was in my yard. We should be allowed to post a stalker's info on a registered stalker web site. Why should stalkers get any privacy rights when they blatantly violate ours?
