For adjusting the rise in the overalls, turn it inside out and then pin the excess fabric, then resew the seam. The rush that I feel while sewing and when it's finished is divine.
You should definitely keep self-drafting - it's a great skill to have! Making mock-ups is probably a good idea, boring as they are 😅. I saw some advice suggesting to increase the seam allowances in mock-ups, to allow for easier modifications if something is too small. I love all the colours/prints you use - can't wait for the video of your latest vest!
Oh yes that’s great advice! That is what I usually do when I self draft: make everything waaay too big 😂 because that way I can easily make it smaller, instead of having to throw it away. Better safe than sorry! Thanks for watching ❤️
Hi Angelica, OMG Look at your beautiful long red hair. I am fixing all of my sewing mistakes, things I made ages ago, otherwise I don’t wear the item. Sometimes I just pull the whole piece apart . Sometimes it works out . I take my time to get it right….. hope that helps
Haaa yes the long red hair was beautiful (but a pain in the butt hehe). That’s a great tip! Many of my ‘fails’ are a little tight, so I can’t really fix them. But I’m sure I could make some pieces into something else :) Thanks!
YOUR BOILER SUIT IS EPIC and I am in loooveeee with the dungarees 😍😍😍😍 great tip on the thrifted fabrics and curious to see what you end up with next year 💜
You might look into making a sloper to help with fit. When I started sewing again I would compare favorite RTW garments to the paper patterns to give me an idea of what changes I had to make.
For me, what inspires me the most is watching videos of people sewing dresses 👗 I love love dresses, 5 to 6 times a week I wear dresses, it doesn't matter the season 😅. But I want to sew some trousers next year, specifically to fit curvy, the majority of them give me a wedgie 😅😅 I hate that.
Ohhh I love sewing dresses but I only wear them in summer 🙈 I still want to sew a good pair of trousers as well, but they are so hard to get right indeed! 😩
Thank you! Yes and when you make it yourself, you realize how impossible it it is to buy a dress at H&M for 20 euros 😭 There's so much work that goes into it! Thanks for watching :)
Very cute makes! Dint feel bad about wrap tops/dresses. They don’t look good on me either! For me it’s the neckline that just doesn’t look good on me! Also, don’t stop self drafting. You’re doing great!
Love all of your makes! I picked up sewing pretty recently too so I can relate a lot to the experiences you share in your vids. :D Do you have a pattern for the lovely vest you've shared at 3:54??
The Dungarees are awesome. I also have the challenge to find clothes that fit my smaller upper body with a size 36 and wide hips with a size 44. Therefore I am starting my sewing Journey and I am excited ! I also love your fabric choices!
This is my first video from you and now i want to see more from you! You have such a fun style with the clothes you make! I think i might look into making a pencil case too! The one i bring to d&d is soo worn....
Wauw super mooi allemaal! Die stof met de klaprozen is geweldig. De jumpsuits zijn ook mooi! Ik ga m'n ogen open houden voor een mooi gordijn bij de kringloop :)
Just found your channel. You did a great job on your makes. I especially liked your green coat and vests. I can totally relate to not doing a markup/muslin. It took me three projects where I wasted nice fabric to realize how important it is to make a markup/muslin. Keep up the good work!
Thank you! Ah yes the muslin, so important! I was too impatient at first, but now I realize my makes are going to look so much better if I make one. Hard lesson learned 🙈 Thanks for watching :)
I love seeing a sewist in the Netherlands! Love all your makes..(even the "not perfect ones")... Please don't give up on self drafting....you did an amazing job so far (it's just a tricky process, I have a bag full of fails😂😂😂) Looking forward to your 2024 makes 🎉🎉🎉
Lovely collection! I usually self-draft based on pieces that I already have that fit me great. Usually produces a better fit than patterns, for simple styles.
I loved the sneaky clip of the wardrobe issue from last year's video, I had totally forgotten about that, but made me laugh, and remember that was the first video of yours I watched! I love watching your videos. Thanks for all the work you put into sharing your craft with us! Happy new year!
I love your style so much! You really understand who you are in terms of colour and proportion. I also have a very steep waist/hip ratio and it does make a difference in choosing what to sew.
All of your makes are so beautiful, even if they didn’t turn out perfect. You chose great patterns and colors that suit you very well! I also really enjoy the framing and color grading on your videos. I can tell you know what you’re doing :)
I loved this video, it is always so interesting to see what everyone made over the past year! I definitely have the Blanca flight-suit on my list this year, and seeing your amazing result has inspired me to make sure I prioritize it for spring!😊😊
Wow, I really enjoyed this video (even if it was double the length :-)) I like your aesthetics, choice of colors and fabrics. Also, I'm impressed at your lining skills!
Love your makes . So creative. I have the same problem with wrap tops. I'm not sure how tall you are but I'm able to fix mine with a petite bodice adjustment. Whitney on Tomkat Stitchery has a great tutorial for that.
Thank you! Ah yes, I'm 1.75m (which I think is 5feet9 or 10?) with a tall upperbody, so most of the wrap tops are too short for my liking! I think that is also the problem ha. I'm going to look. your tip up, maybe she has something for longer upperbody's too :) Thanks!
Girl, ditch that perfectionism! It’s hard but once you let go you’ll feel much better. It’s good to see what went wrong to correct it and learn but give yourself a pat on the back, you made a lot of stuff and it looks great!😊
You keep saying 'buying a good pattern', the problem with good patterns is that they won't just fit you either. You still need to adjust them to your body. Which means that all patterns are good. Including your own. Better get yourself some good books that teach you to recognise the fitting problem and how to adjust them. Or follow a course to learn just that. TomKat Stitchery has an online course for it, that i think will open again in the spring if you can not follow sewing lessons somewhere near you
Definitely true! However, with an existing pattern I do have a better base to begin with. They always fit me better than something self made, so I do feel an existing pattern is better for me :) However, there is still so much to learn of course! I am on a waiting list for sewing lessons, thanks for your tips :) I think there's also a lot of information on RUclips!
You have a very good "eye" for prints and colors. All of your projects are very nice, much better than you give yourself credit for.
Thank you so much! I'm a big sucker for prints and colours, I live for them ha. Thank you :)
Time to start referring to yourself as an intermediate sewist. You rock!
Thank you! ❤️
I'm also a beginner and cannot make anything near what you made, you're so talented! Everything looks great, I love the purple/pink sweater.
Thank you, so sweet! The sweater is one of my favourites too :) So comfy!
I'm sure you're a great sewer too :)
For adjusting the rise in the overalls, turn it inside out and then pin the excess fabric, then resew the seam. The rush that I feel while sewing and when it's finished is divine.
Great advice, thank you!
And yesss it’s so satisfying!!
As a fellow beginner sewist, you've done VERY well! Stay adventurous!
Thank youuuu! ❤️

Really love the colours and prints you chose for your clothes! It's so nice to look at
Thank you! :)
I love the body warmer and the coat.❤
thank you! :)
YOUR BOILER SUIT IS EPIC and I am in loooveeee with the dungarees 😍😍😍😍 great tip on the thrifted fabrics and curious to see what you end up with next year 💜
Thanks bb!!! ❤️
Great job with your sewing, and such cute patterns you chose. I love the colors and prints you picked. Your photos are beautiful too😊❤
Ahh thank you so much ❤️

The best way to shop ethically is to make your own clothes, I love everything all very unique and colourful
Thank you! Yes and when you make it yourself, you realize how impossible it it is to buy a dress at H&M for 20 euros 😭 There's so much work that goes into it!
Thanks for watching :)
Very impressed for a beginner..... well done...very inspiring...👍
Thank you ❤️❤️
Wow, that was an amazing first year and so accomplished!
Thank you! To be honest this was the second year (ish, I started sewing the previous year in summer :)) Thanks!
Thanks for the video! You are a talented sewer.
Thanks for watching ❤️
The Poppy dress could look good with a wide contrasting belt, dark tights and a funky jacket in cooler weather. 🎉Congratulations on all your makes!
Sounds great! :)
& Thanks for watching :)
Very cute makes! Dint feel bad about wrap tops/dresses. They don’t look good on me either! For me it’s the neckline that just doesn’t look good on me! Also, don’t stop self drafting. You’re doing great!
Thank you so much!
I just feel like wrap tops should be an easy make, but good to know I'm not alone!
Thanks for watching :)
Love all of your makes! I picked up sewing pretty recently too so I can relate a lot to the experiences you share in your vids. :D Do you have a pattern for the lovely vest you've shared at 3:54??
Thank you! It is self drafted, I copied it from a vest I already owned.
Thanks for watching :)
I love all of your makes, including the blue wrap top. I think that it looks great on you. You should definitely wear it.❤
Thank youuu! 😊 I will wear it in spring ❤️
I love that too! Is there a free pattern for it?
@@maryquitecontrary93 It's not a free pattern but it is this one: sycamoreroadpatterns.com/shop/p/zelie-wrap-top-dress
:)
Yes, and the ruffles balances the body shape and makes It look more hourglass (even though Is not a very acute triangle shape, pretty balanced)
The Dungarees are awesome. I also have the challenge to find clothes that fit my smaller upper body with a size 36 and wide hips with a size 44. Therefore I am starting my sewing Journey and I am excited ! I also love your fabric choices!
Ohhh that sure sounds like a challenge, I think you're really going to enjoy sewing your own clothes! Good luck :D
in love with all of your makes!!
Thank you ❤️
Wow, really cool and inspiring! You sowed a lot! I find that so special! 🎉
Thank you! I guess have too much time on my hands 😆
OH HUNNY I LOVE THAT FLIGHT SUIT! ADORABLE! SO PRETTY ON YOU! WOW! YOU CREATED A FAB WARDROBE FOR 2023! LOVE IT!! I CREATED TOTE BAGS!

Thank you!
Ooh the poppies!❤️❤️
I love poppies :D
This is my first video from you and now i want to see more from you! You have such a fun style with the clothes you make!
I think i might look into making a pencil case too! The one i bring to d&d is soo worn....
Thank you so much ❤️
I love making pencil cases, so easy and satisfying and perfect for scraps :)
Wauw super mooi allemaal!
Well done! The boiler suit and dungarees are my favourites!
Thank you so much! I think they are my favourites too :)

Looking forward to your 2024 makes 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you! I won't give up on self drafting, but I guess I need to do mock-ups first. Specially with self drafting 😆
Thanks for watching! :)
Lovely collection! I usually self-draft based on pieces that I already have that fit me great. Usually produces a better fit than patterns, for simple styles.
Thank you!
Yes I often use those as well :) Every body is so different so it's good to know what fits and what not. Thanks for watching :)
You are very good they are all beautiful.💕
Thank you! ❤️
Next year is the year of pants for me. I look forward to see what you make in 2024!
Yes, year of the pants! That's a good one, I think my goal for january is going to be: make pants. I really need pants, ha. Thanks for watching :)
Another amazing year of sewing! Well done 🎉
I need to try making pants too - 2024 is our year! 😉👍

Hi Angélica, I've just stumbled upon your channel and I fell in love! I love how colorful your clothes are. Thanks for sharing!
Ahh thank you so much! Thanks for watching ❤️
I love your style so much! You really understand who you are in terms of colour and proportion. I also have a very steep waist/hip ratio and it does make a difference in choosing what to sew.
Such a nice compliment, thank you! ❤️
Ohmygod, you're so sweet and your TASTE is impeccable. Instant follow ❤️🔥
Ahh you are so sweet! Thanks for watching :)
Well done, everything is great. Sewing is a wonderful hobby.😊
Thank you!

All of your makes are so beautiful, even if they didn’t turn out perfect. You chose great patterns and colors that suit you very well! I also really enjoy the framing and color grading on your videos. I can tell you know what you’re doing :)
Ah so sweet of you to say, thank you! I'm trying my best, both sewing and video wise :) Thanks for watching ❤️
I loved this video, it is always so interesting to see what everyone made over the past year! I definitely have the Blanca flight-suit on my list this year, and seeing your amazing result has inspired me to make sure I prioritize it for spring!😊😊
Thanks for watching, I love your videos ❤
The Blanca is amazing! I think it's such a great pattern and it has a lot of variety. A timeless piece!
I love the body warmer and the fabric you used!! ❤
Thanks! One of my favourites too, so comfy!
I wanted to compliment you on how well you speak English. ❤
Ah thank you! I'm trying my best 🙈
Wow, I really enjoyed this video (even if it was double the length :-))

Haha thanks! I'm Dutch ;)
You made a lot ! Happy New Year 😊
I guess I did! Didn't feel like it but it is still quite a lot indeed :) Thank you! Happy New Year ✨

Wow fabulous 🧵🎉
Nice makes. Do you know the tutorial you used to make the zippered pockets on that coat with the pink zipper?
Thanks!
I used this one: ruclips.net/video/yKAy8bVpAbs/видео.html&ab_channel=ProfessorPincushion
It's very easy :)
lots of beautiful items you made. I like the body warmer but don't see a link for it. Is it self drafted?
Hi, thank you! It is self drafted indeed :)
Such lovely pieces. Is the body warmer the Irma by fibre mood?
Thank you! The body warmer is self drafted :)
Subscribed!! I’m a beginner as well at the start of my sewing journey. May I ask how you learnt to draft patterns?
Thanks!
Honestly I basically used copy things I already own and just try and wing it/adjust it on feeling. Would love to follow a workshop about it!
Girl, ditch that perfectionism! It’s hard but once you let go you’ll feel much better. It’s good to see what went wrong to correct it and learn but give yourself a pat on the back, you made a lot of stuff and it looks great!😊

Some wonderful creations you created. I just came across your video and watched you showing off your outfits (✷‿✷)
Thank you and thank you for watching! ❤
