      Because it's dual audio transition, in old analog transition there was option to transmit 2 audio tracks over stereo, if you had very old TV don't supports it but supports stereo it will sound like this. In Poland we also had channels that did that. But it odd because this looks like digital transition, maybe there set to boxes still use this or maybe they on perpace to not lose volume of both original audio and translated voice

    A lot of people saying "in Japan it's so calm while in America is screaming", but in Japan earthquakes are very common and people are trained for that. The EAS is supposed to give information quickly and broadly and to gain and keep your attention so yes, the EAS is loud and annoying and creepy af on purpose

    • @0xEARTH
      @0xEARTH 2 года назад +4

      i mean, that and also those three buzzers are actually what carries the emergency information. the only "attention tone" is the long, 8-second two-tone sound you hear following.

    日本の地震警報には、「緊急性は感じさせるが不安感は与えない音」を使っているみたいです!
    また、「急激に変わる音程」と「不協和音」を曲に使用することで、適度な緊張感を実現しているらしいです。

      I feel like a manual translation would probably favor something more like this: "This is an Earthquake Early Warning. Please prepare for strong shaking."
      Not entirely sure why I think that, I guess it just sounds a bit more natural.

    One of the most calming things you can read or hear after a earthquake off the coast is “there is no tsunami concern” (translated somewhat directly), but of course, the earthquake itself will likely have caused a lot of damage already

      I'd rather take the EAS over nothing. In the U.K., we don't even _have_ a warning system. So, if something happens, we're all gonna die unless the Government manages to get/already has (one the public just don't know about) a system in place.
