I have the shield tv pro 2019. What I did to get more USB port is I bought an adapter to plug in one USB then it became 6 USB port. So I ended up having 7 USB port on my shield. So there's an easy way around it. And I plugged in a 2TB storage and now my shield tv has 2TB storage instead of that small 16GB internal storage which isn't enough ! It's kind of nice ! I never get a low storage warning cause the 2TB drive.
This chip was released 6 years ago, and was so ahead from the competition that in 2022 still hold on, but it's time to Nvidia to come with something new and revolutionary again.
I heard rumours that nvidia and nintendo are actuelly working on a new SOC for a future console - I think we won't see a new shield tv before this chip is developed and produced in high numbers and I'd guess that nvidia would not release a new "shield" and dump this project if there is no other huge market for the required SOC. Shield alone doesn't do the numbers to justify the chip production so you need customers like nintendo or automotive companies.

Same bro. Have the first pro model 16gb, so it’s 2017? And yeah same I also wished there was a simple way to setup the games. At first I had dig front end and wanted something better. I found about Retrox but it’s $13 a year or $73 lifetime. Luckily I found out Daijisho which is super easy to use and free and looks pretty good.
I just bought an Nvidia Shield after your recommendation from your previous videos. I can say that it really is a powerhouse for retro gaming. I'm loving it.
Can you jam a USB drive in it and play a mkv file with VLC or MXPlayer? I've had one of these pro models for a few years and I've never been able to run mkv/mp4 files without a little bit of stuttering. Even if I use an external SSD, still stutters a bit.
My Shield TV has been rocking since 2015 and it won't retire until a real new Shield arrives. I have just finished Doom 3 on the fat controller that came in the bundle, and I still love it. The latency is so much better than the Bluetooth version. About Dolphin: I don't know what happens today, but I used to play Mario Kart upscaled on GC and new Super Mario Bros on Wii with no major issues at a decent frame rate. Probably Dolphin added many functions and Android is now heavier.
Does your Shield play mkv from USB sources fine? Mine has always had a big of stutter. I've tried everything and even had Nvidia replace my Shield under warranty.

Not sure if you mentioned it, but one of the differences between the 2015 &. 2019 models is that the older one uses infra-red for the remote and the newer one uses Bluetooth. Was a bit of a bummer for me because I wanted to run my 2019 Shield with my Harmony remote because I use it as the "smart" part of my TV.
Just to let you know, you're able to. I use My Harmony remote with mine with no issues. Even can use voice commands to turn on or off the Nvida Shield.
Do your research, the 2015 & 2017 Pro have Bluetooth remotes, there is a Infrared sensor on front of box to do CEF with your TVs remote control, for thing's like turning shield on at same time you turn TV on.
I use a FLIRC infrared receiver in the form of a USB dongle with my Shield. It works fine with my Harmony remote (there is a profile in the Harmony database). A relative of mine has a 4K Firestick TV that is powered through a USB hub, which allows using a FLIRC on it as well, also with a Harmony remote.
I’ve have 2019 pro versions for a few years, and it on nearly all day it’s an absolute beast of a machine I dread the it gives in on me, let’s say I did my homework on what is the best machine for the job I needed, and this machine is definitely it.
Tegra used to be an amazing chip. That was 5 years ago though. I use snapdragon 945 to play games now. A Galaxy S10+ with cracked screen does the job for me. It is purely for android games, and uses dex for web-browsing. I just have a 1080p screen for it, but its 55" so I'm not complaining. Getting DEX to do 4k is a bit of a challenge, unless you get the Samsung dock. I just have a chinese hub thing. Anyway, what version of Android does that Shield run again now?
I personally have zero interest in TV and haven't watched a more than a few seconds of while walking by in years, but someone else in the house likes to watch TV and sticking with a Comcast box and an early, clumsy version of Web OS on the older LG TV puts me in a box that prevents me from saving a lot of money every month by simply having options plus I'm paying $10/mo. for a box. One thing that is advertised with the nVidia Shield Pro is that it can be an Alexa and Google Assistant hub. I'll call them out on that because on their site it states that you need to have the controller which I don't even know if it works with the 2019, nor if you can buy it, and if you can, it's now another $100, not $50 like before. The remote is not rechargeable like the controller is, and with the need to listen all the time, and that isn't going to happen with AAA batteries, and the unit itself would be too close to the TV speakers to be a viable microphone source. That said, if you cross that off the list of specs, its still tough to beat. It looks like any place there is a slight lack in performance compared to the best out there today, it trounces the competition with features such as unparalleled upscaling, the power and flexibility to be a Plex server, configurable menus and even 3rd party ones, and capable of running more services and emulators better than anything else out there.

Hey Wicked. I picked up the H96 Max V58, and it actually outperforms the Shield in terms of emulation. Highly recommended box for gaming, but not for streaming.
Bear in mind, the default interface is awful, I had a tough time with it. Switched to using Daijishō as the default launcher / front end, and I'm enjoying it much more.

I was thinking, maybe for around $300 the best emulation box right now seems to be an Xbox Series S. I did a bit of research into both the Nvidia and the Xbox, and for me personally, the Xbox was a much better option.
My Shield Pro stutters a little bit during mkv/mp4 playback using a USB source (thumbdrive, SSD, etc). Doesn't matter the app that I use (VLC, MXPlayer, Plex, etc). It handles a cast from my Android phone fine enough but not via the USB port. Anybody else suffer this? Anybody figure out a fix? I've tried everything, including a warranty replacement.

Hey Wicked. I picked up the H96 Max V58, and it actually outperforms the Shield in terms of emulation. Highly recommended box for gaming, but not for streaming.
let's check that one out then 😎
Bear in mind, the default interface is awful, I had a tough time with it. Switched to using Daijishō as the default launcher / front end, and I'm enjoying it much more.
Seems like a piece of overpriced crap. It doesn’t even have a fan on it 😂
@@christophervanzetta lol, if the presence of absence of a fan is your measurement of a system's capabilities, you know nothing about hardware. Thanks for the laugh.
For a long time is was the King of Kings and only now are we seeing it looking a little long in the tooth compared to what SOC's are coming out. I feel sure that Nvidia will being out a new one next year. Prefer the I/O on the original.
One of my 500gb Nvidia Shield TV stopped booting past the Nvidia logo. Tried factory reset, but it doesn't work. Is there a way to clone the hard drive if it's probably dead! Lol
If drive is dead, you are SOL, I have a dead drive also, contacted Nvidea, they said they would replace the unit with a 2019 16, better than nothing, yeh right , over a year now still nothing.
@@yodamann5193 I just started using my Xbox One X for streaming apps and my Atari VCS for Kodi. I got 7 years of use out it and don't really need it anymore.
@@yodamann5193 And did you mean you sent them your 500gb model and they haven't sent you anything yet?
God of War: Chain of Kinkiness must be a really “hard” game. 😅
🤪
I have an Nvidia Shield Pro 500 gig that I purchased at a thrift shop for $3 I'm strapped for cash so if anyone wants it they can get a good deal. No cords no controllers $100 bill
I was thinking, maybe for around $300 the best emulation box right now seems to be an Xbox Series S. I did a bit of research into both the Nvidia and the Xbox, and for me personally, the Xbox was a much better option.
Depends if you want to put a front-end on, and the hassle setting up. If you don't mind hassle get a mini pc instead
MS locking that down currently.
Best thing I use is lunchbox with a 2tb HDD
Nvidia just announced they’re disabling gamestream next year. Been using it for years. I’m so upset
The king it is👑
Anyone recommend me the best retro console out?
Can i play games like fortnite and minecraft on this tv box?
Add Roblox to the list, too. Anyone get it to work?
With some cheap Amd Ryzen and intel mini pc i dont think nvidia shield is worth it!
AMD does have some amazing cpu's now.
I don't think it's worth the price, other far cheaper consoles are quickly catching up. I'll be happy with my Super Console X until they come out with something that plays quality ps2 at a decent price
in 10 years you will make this same video....Nvidia shield is still king of the android boxes in year 2032
Whahahahaha 😂😂 I hope not !
Can you play call of duty mobile?
The Chinese boxes are using old emmulators, and not newer versions and old Android, and not legal, hense rooted devices. Using old emmulators they may get away with it due to be old ones.
My 5 year old Nuc mini pc, plays better than my shield. Android is not the best way to run emmulation
Chain of kinkiness. Haha
🤪
Update video
Still shild box King 🤣🤣🤣
Really? I have one haha
This is one of the most confusing product in the world.
Just get a steam deck
Has anybody been able to get Roblox to work on the Shield? My daughter had daggers in her eyes after I promised her Roblox on a 65inch TV. lol
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I disagree, xbox series s and x is the king of emulation right now.
this is crap not ultimate. If it was ultimate it would have these parameters:
Snapdragon 8 gen 2 or faster
16gb ram
1tb rom
HDMI, Thunderbolt - 4K screen connection
20000mAh battery
these should be the minimum requirements, and not that they sell any sh&t
I have one and it's waste of money
😳
I call bull shit, best ever Android tv box , do a side by side comparison, with bench tests
@@yodamann5193 android tv boxes are outdated in general.
You are in much better shape getting an AMD powered mini PC for your TV.
@@yodamann5193 it’s the best and I’ve had a few 3rd party ones before even my misses can use it when I’m not there.
Guy Gantic!
