When you start the game, make sure that at least one Hive has Lancers. They are located along part of the circle around the Hive. If not, restart again immediately.
This is good information for those aiming for this achievement. That said, I feel like while I was testing this that even hives that had lancers may not attack. Either way, good tip!
Excellent video thank you very much I learned a couple of new things about the dark fog and I was wondering why I couldn't get the hive to attack me and it's because I didn't have the right settings
Thanks for this guide -- it's great! Unfortunately even with the dark fog settings you recommended, I couldn't get the space hive to attack -- stuck on "Assembling." I think it's because I somehow ended up with *two* planetary bases on my starting planet, so I think the threat somehow spread out more. I even killed both planetary bases and the satellite things, but it wasn't enough. I'll have to try again and make sure it's only one planetary base next time. Or wait until they clarify the achievement so this doesn't happen.
I'm having the same problem. I used the settings that he recommends in the video and still got stuck on assembling. He has 2 planetary bases in his video as well so I don't think your issue is that there were two bases.

Note, you could set the power threat factor to the lowest, the dark fog won't attack you and you still can get "won't lay low".

I did with this settings. Thread goes to 98% after killing 2 relays. Didn't get achiev
Did it on 2nd try. Event kill all lancers in process
