Thank you for making and sharing this video. I would argue though that this video is showing how to 'place' a particular pdf file in an Indesign file. Not converting, since you can't change or use the content of the pdf concerning an Inedisign presentation. Wouldn't you agree?
Good morning. Sir, is there any way I can place all the pages in a once-specified place for every other placed (imported) page of the document , instead of clicking each time for every single page? I mean I would like to click once, or specify it once, to put a content of a pdf in - this or that - place of a Indesign page, and then to automatically repeat placing of every next page from that exact point, where I have already clicked. Is there any way? I have got a lot, a lot of pages to import...
I have a file in pdf (around 1000 pages). I would like to import all the file to indesign and insert a text (and the number of each page) in the top of the page. Is there a way to make it easy? Or probably I will need to do it one by one? (The text and number of the page need to stay in the layer up to the document to be showed)
in INdesign create your page size based on pdf page size then proceed with the following From Menu tab select - Windows->Utilities->Scripts.... select Scripts tabs... Application->Sample->Applescript ..... select PlaceMultipagePDF.applescript Select the file name you created when asked and place 1 page per. i'm on a mac so not sure if windows is the same procedure.
I don't understand where you got the margins from in the pdf file? You said, "In the index of the pdf file," but where is that located on the pdf file? I saw the location of the height and width, but not the margins. Thank you.
May be i didn't make that clear, sorry! ... I've designed the index for my book, so i know the values of its margins. If you don't know the margins used for your PDF, if you have Adobe Acrobat you can click View -> Show/Hide -> Cursor Coordinates, then move with the mouse through the page text content margins to see the coordinates. You can calculate the margins used. At least approximately.
Please please please how do I increase the size of the file I pasted ..like I got the size of original file and customized it in Indesign but whenever I paste it it’s a bit small and I can’t increase it
Your tutorial is commendable, however, you are not converting the PDF to InDesign; you are importing it. Even when importing, there are scripts that allow you to import all pages automatically.
I have one more case for export pdf files to Indesign This script can export pdf (after opened in Illustrator) to editable Indesign file (only as non formatted text) ruclips.net/video/k5ucrQPPyEo/видео.htmlsi=v-r_0orDCaTTXvT2
This is how you import a PDF into InDesign. You still cannot edit the PDF in InDesign.

Right, but what type of changes are you seeking for in InDesign?

@@GameCrewzer it's and it's working, thanks!

@@PDFColony I appreciate the fast reply! Thank you so much!

Did you set the page dimensions as explained in the video, using the width/height values of your original book?
You didn't Actually Convert the PDF - you simply placed it into an InDesign file! Thumbs down - thanks for wasting my time.
thank you, learned something I did not know at that existed in the PDF file. Thank again.
its still not indesign file but pdf imported in indesign.

indesign (2019) doesn´t recognise the other pages, just the first one
Did you select "All" in the "Import options" dialog? ... This is explained at the minute 2:41 of the video.
yeh me too and doesnt give me the option to select all
This is image not text
This is nice, but merely useless, since one can't edit the file further as an InDesign file. Thank you though for the video.
This is IMPORTING PDF, not ***CONVERTING*** PDF.
The worst way. You can do it through scripts integrated in indesign.
I have one more case for export pdf files to Indesign
This script can export pdf (after opened in Illustrator) to editable Indesign file (only as non formatted text)
