Yeah, definitely. But he should have seen it coming in my opinion. He's been singing in the upper tenor range for years, even venturing into contralto territory at times, when it's pretty obvious that it's not within his "natural" range. You could screw your voice by doing this even if you didn't smoke and/or drink. That being said, I've always loved how his voice sounds like it's at the brink of collapsing. It's what makes TBS unique and special IMO.
Fred's better than John, in all aspects, especially this version of John. Mark and Adam the ones who had Fred decide to go away. TBS' prime was with Fred and after he left they went into shambles.

i like john very much, and he definitely adds an element to TBS that no one else brought, but Fred was something else

Adam smokes and does drugs - hens the scratchy voice, still amazing.
It's a live show and the sound quality isn't great. Saw them live this last year and he sounds a lot better when your actually there
