Flash was my first idol when I was growing up. He was bigger to me than any pro athlete. He was the best at DJing in NYC during the late 70's and early 80's. (We didn't call it hip-hop then). Theodore was dope, but Flash was the man. I remember watching Flash in person for the first time in the Bronx when I was a shorty after hearing all of the older dudes in my Brooklyn neighborhood telling fish stories about his skill. I saw him rock about six times back in the day and his was always amazing. I still have my tapes to this day.
Had the privilege of hearing him spin @ The Underground in MPLS. I will never forget it. GMF started off by saying "I'm going to take you on a musical journey", and he did. Salute!
Thank you Sway's Universe for keeping history ALIVE. I was born in 88' & my journey with music has always came back to wanting to learn where it ALL started & came from. Giving Grandmaster Flash his flowers while he's still on this earth for future generations to witness 💯
Some of the most awesome shit I have ever seen. Without Grand Master Flash a lot of kids would have become troubled youth but he gave us hip hop and rap! Thank you comrade! You deserve all of the love!
This is one of the best and most precise/concise lectures I’ve seen Flash do on his quick mix theory. Props to everyone involved and definitely shout out to GMF.
Thank you so much Sway for this!!!!! Grandmaster flash the originator the icon the legend... There is no hip hop there is no culture without him. Thank you so much to grandmaster flash for everything he did and continues to do
Man as a DJ and I also saw this legend on Wild Style and DST and especially as a latino myself DJ Charlie Chase that changed my life Thank you thank thank you Grandmaster Legend Icon Teacher Scientist...
I love hearing Flash he always gives credit where credit is due and is so humble about the art. The thing I really want to know is as a hip hop originator, what does he think/feel about the EDM scene and the rise of electronic music and the game and success of electronic DJ's?
Around that time for me in the late 70s there was alot of DJ'S very few MC's being from HARLEM I witnessed this Movement at HARLEM WORLD on 116th st Lenox it was amazing then and amazing now what the pioneers put together is UNBELIEVABLE it's nothing we can't do THE MOST HIGH IS REAL AND AMAZING
I'm 24 and I grew up listening to hip-hop but never payed much attention to the production, I recently discovered DJing and I'm so inspired by Flash I want to learn how to mix just like him.
There's only one Flash. No one can take the roots credit that he alone holds. Not that there weren't other contributions, but Flash has his own unique contributions that aren't to be under valued
What a shame the comment section ain't blowing up watching this video made me cry my older sister put me on the hip-hop I was born in 75 she's five years older she was in love with Run DMC and Prince I'm half Irish half Italian I lost the first teenagers in my life to a 12 and a half years sentence in prison but my greatest MCs Rakim Kool G Rap krs-1 Tech Nine and Freddie Fox I got burn marks on my hips from my twin Glocks salute Grandmaster Flash I grew up with you man I'm not black but I lived through the struggle and the same neighborhoods I grew up on the music and I love it to this day and I'm watching this video and it's making me cry and what a blessing for you you deserve it
three you niggas dropped verses and that shit was hot while flash was scratching and mixing smiling thats was three. he was like yo we did shit well what Grandmaster Flash said. Respect!
The child in me would save everything jotted man, that’s gonna be in a museum one day, its a honor ! Truly a genius of his era i love hip hop history and always knew ab who and where it originated from cause of of me digging back and questioning the truth. Salute g🫡 ill never forget and my future kids will always be reminded of💯💯💯
"Adventures of Grandmaster Flash on the Wheels of Steel" inspired me to start DJing. I'm almost 60 yrs old and I still consider myself a hip-hop kid. Thank you, Sir Flash.
Thank you grandmaster Master flash grandmaster Master Theodore Legends inspiring to me along with Chuck chill out and red alert NYC was lit hip was dope back then
I also feel what flash says. hip hop 50 is more of a Rap 50 the way they organize it now. rappers take the moment completely to themselves, but on the other hand DJs should take the initiative themselves and also organize events. I think the biggest crime is that herc, cindy and bam are not present at any event. herc, bam, flash, crazy legs and one of the first graffiti artists should get a culture award for this thing called hip hop
I don't think a lotta people undrstand how iconic and VALUABLE this is that we just saw. Respect.
