@@WasteSomeTimewithJasonGreen Funny thing is I wrote that when I was less than half way through the interview. Then you asked "the cool one" question toward the end, haha. Everybody knows!
The cool Factor was deftl Tracii Guns he is the style and Music icon and the typical Sound of The Guns ,look at Traciis Cool styles in the late 80s ,he came up with that shit and brought it to the band
you can see Kelly brings a large portion of the LA Guns DNA with his songwriting and artwork.. he should be with Phil and Tracii those three guys define that band..
Jason, thanks for this interview. I was at their Cannery gig. The guys signed my RLAGuns LPs. Totally awesome guys, sadly Steve didn't come out to the casino floor...
Lucky to be in an opening band for L.A Guns in Houston on first tour. Kelly was awesome and was surprised I knew about one of his first bands Sweet Pain on Combat records.
What a cool, likeable guy he comes across as. I remember being 15 at the time I heard their first album, about a year after it's release and it blew my mind! That and FP's debuts was about as cool as it got for me. Plus, the band members had some cool names as well.
@@mr.potter4661 yeah, whats not to love with those two bands. They had everything a kid wanted to have at the time. And looking at the debut albums of LAG and FP, they still get me smiling and singing. I played in a sleazeband in the early 90's and we put "smash alley" in our repertoire, brilliant song and when playing it you could really feel the energy of the song.
Great job as always, Jason. You covered a lot in a very short time. Kelly seems like a cool, down to earth guy. I would love to have heard him talk about why LA Guns changed their sound so much from album to album.
Great interview. I really like that first LA Guns record. Kelly seems like a great guy. I usually scoff at these farcical, half-assed line-ups of classic bands (Quiet Riot, etc.), but I’d go see this version of LA Guns just to see Kelly and Steve. Look-out!
Great vid Jason. That was one hell of a cool interview. I was such a fan of the the two first L.A.Guns. I'm sticking with the L.A.Guns that Steve and Kelly are in. Was cool to hear from Kelly🤘
Hell yeah!! Very cool and Tracii did say that Mick came up with Ballad of Jane..and showed Tracii that intro that sliding or hammer-on intro.. whatever wanna call it…
It was Micks idea he is like IZZY the Brain of The Band ,Mick wrote the most intros on Cocked and Loaded and Ballad of Jayne based on Rolling Stones Stuff like all songs on Cocked and Loaded, its deftl Micks Riff and he also played it every live and in Studio
Thank you for doing this interview Jason. Totally classic. Dude is hillarious and great interview. God bless Jason. You look great and Gods speed on your recovery from rough year
Guys, check out 'On You' album of Finnish band Smack in case you haven't. The band was one of the influencers not only in LA scene but in Seattle as well. Another tragic story...
Jason - Always enjoy your unapologetic opinions which mostly seem to reflect mine. I'm one of the many who are with Riley's LAG for the simple fact that it's drama free territory and they have great songs -- Renegades title track is my favorite -- and I'm sick of Tracii and Phil's nonstop bullshit. Looking forward to the new Riley's LAG release.
It was a great interview and I was looking forward to this one for a long time. Jason... Always thought Kelly was a cool dude. I found it to be a very interesting interview as Kelly is very low key in the sense that he does not like to talk trash, but you do because you obviously were bringing up a lot of trash regarding the Traci and Phil version.... I'm sure you have a lot of history with those guys and that band in general which brings about your distaste for them.... I do hope your surgery went well and youre doing okay...
Love your interviews. Not sure why EVERY time LA Guns is mentioned you slag on Tracii. Not sure what the personal issues with him but kudos to Kelly to not take the bait.
Glad Kelly dont throw shit back. It is only rock n roll and it is possible to support both versions. It is enough shit going on in the world today so let the music do the talking
Luck Kelly? Let's not throw brass u der the the bridge ok? I love you ALL!!! PLEASE UNITE IN HARMONY... And I understand and appreciate Ya'lls travels!!! Godd god!!! I know yall you don't remember me? It was it the back aftershow, low...naughty boys! 😉 I love Ya'll....love to promote Ya'll in the Midwest!!! Boost your shit Pronto guys!!!
One question I would have asked Kelly was after his bike accident how difficult was it for him to get back on the motorcycle for the Electric Gypsy video? He said it was a six year recovery, so that must have still been early on his recovery from the accident.
Gotta be a NY thing, because Steve and Kelly have NO BUSINESS using and diluting the name. Phil is the voice and Tracii is the sound and literally the name. Can you imagine Joey Kramer and Tom Hamilton calling themselves Aerosmith? Or John Bonham and John Paul Jones calling themselves Led Zeppelin? Good luck, the album might go aluminum
Kelly is cool. La Guns is only with Tracii and Phil. I wish Mick and Kelly would join. Steve Riley is an ass and he was poison to La Guns. I love LA guns . I wish they re up . But cool with Teacii. And Phil. Mick Cripps is very underrated wish he'd join
THESE BANDS HAVE TO STOP DOING THIS SHIT, IF YOU ONLY HAVE A COUPLE OF MEMBERS {NOT THE MAIN ONES} YOU NEED TO CALL IT BY ANOTHER DAMN NAME, I HATE GOING TO SEE BANDS WITH ONE GUY FROM THE ORIGINAL GROUP CALLING IT THE SAME AS A FULL BAND OF ORIGINALS...AT THAT POINT YOU....ARE....A...TRIBUTE BAND!!!!!!!!!
@@WasteSomeTimewithJasonGreen you're a troll. You were asking him stupid questions to start rifts between the two bands. You knew about Travis mental issues but still asked about that when you knew the answer. Nickels didn't fall for your stupid question.
I don’t get the lack of creativity, when former band members just put their names in front of their old bands’ names. Why not something derivative but new, like “Riley & Nickels” and repurpose the Smith & Wesson logo?
I only follow Riley's LAG..not following Tracii and Phil anymore...besides I can't stand that Ace Von Jerkson at all...I was suprised at how good their debut was plus they really are drama free ...Kelly never said anything bad about them since he started playing again...
Odds of getting Mick Gripps on? He was so important to the riffs in the early records (Traci's own words).
Kelly always had the cool factor in LA Guns, but I never knew he was such a likeable dude. Great interview!
Thank you, he’s definitely a cool guy
@@WasteSomeTimewithJasonGreen Funny thing is I wrote that when I was less than half way through the interview. Then you asked "the cool one" question toward the end, haha. Everybody knows!

Kelly was always the coolest LA Guns member and his uncle is a super famous singer in France
Pierre Perret
Nah, that's Tracii.
you can see Kelly brings a large portion of the LA Guns DNA with his songwriting and artwork.. he should be with Phil and Tracii those three guys define that band..
Agreed 💯
Kelly is awesome!

Thanks Jason! I have seen the Guns alot over the years! I like both bands! God bless you buddy and savior JESUS keep you safe always!

I support all versions of LA Guns, but Kelly is always the best
Also, great interview as always Jason
Love Kelly. One of my favorite episodes. Great job Jason!
Finally set the record straight on ballad of jayne.

What a sweetheart of guy. Like Izzy, Kelly's cool! Cheers from Finland!
Great interview Jason. Kelly is definitely the cool guy in the band.

Very Cool Interview, I'm sure the show will be great.
Thank you Jason. I really enjoyed your Interview with Kelly.
I’ve seen both versions and still love the Michael Grant days. He played both Traci and Stacy’s stuff well and added a ton of energy.
Grant was a great LAG guitarist. Lot's of positive energy!
Oops I missed the live but happy to finally get a chance to see this now. Great interview 👍

I wonder if they bring up the Vince neil story with his wife 🤔
You guys should put it in the past. I know it’s easier said than done. LA Guns to me isn’t LA Guns without Phil and Tracii.

Steve has every right using the name, he owns 50% of the name. Which is why the band could continue using the name after Tracii bailed.

I would say performing a show in a bathroom might be just a tad more stupid, I’m sure you relate

Kelly is a cool guy, but smoking next to Jason when I'm sure you know he's been dealing with his cancer..not too cool there.
He's not in the real la guns.
The truth is that Steve Riley is the only one that has always waved the L.A. Guns flag and he wasn't even the original drummer.
