John's son Walker Montgomery is a rising star who sounds like his dad , especially his cover of his dad's song I love The Way You You Love Me " John's brother Eddie found succes with Troy "T-ROY" Gentry as Montgomery Gentry until T"ROY" was killed in a plane crash , Eddie still performs as a solo artist, Eddie and John's nephew Dillon Carmichael is also raising country music singer, he sounds like idiacial to his uncle Eddie, two of Dillon Carmichael songs that is good is "Hot Beer" ,the other one "Son Of A " .

The Country music genre does not shy away from the tough topics! No one, I mean no one should suffer at the hands of another! This got me way to emotional having grown up in a loving home! Much love to you and anyone suffering this kind of abuse!

I grew up in a very physical and emotional abusive home and it has affected me my entire life. But it taught me to never treat my love one's that way. Love one another while you can.

Donna, thank you for sharing that. I’m truly sorry you had to go through that kind of pain. It takes incredible strength to break those cycles, and I admire you for making a different choice for your own kids. I know that commitment doesn’t erase what we went through, but I hope you feel the pride you deserve for creating a better path.

John Michael Montgomery had a huge career going on in the early 90s, hit after hit, and had some struggles with mental health after that. His brother Eddie Montgomery also found music success as a duo with Troy Gentry as Montgomery Gentry, and sadly Troy died in a plane crash, and John began performing again with his brother Eddie without the heavy pressures of the music industry that he had on him as a younger man. Still has that great country voice.

"When I Call Your Name" Vince Gill with his close friend Patty Loveless on harmony. Possibly the greatest two part harmony ever recorded. Do the studio version. All the live versions on You Tube have sound problems or are shortened versions.

The reason why I love Country music; storytelling at it's best, the best dialect of English that warms my soul and the voices of the performers. It saddens me though that you went through a tough time as a child. So thrilled that you overcame it all and is living your life as the positive , empathetic and creative human being you are. Greetings from South Africa

John is brother to Eddie Montgomery, of the duo Montgomery Gentry. The video to their song "Cold One Coming On" is really good, with a tough story that has some positivity at the end.

This is such a powerful song & heart wrenching. John has lighter music too, of course. 'Sold at the Grundy County auction' is a good Yee Haw, fun country tune, however, my favs are 'I love how you love me' & 'I swear' (which I have sang for many weddings).

It's Jennifer Nettles and Brandy Clark.
    Phenomenal female voices.

I’m so sorry you had such a rough life! I hate it when religion is used as a punishment for people, and sometimes it is. I’ve been struggling with my faith lately, for that very reason. I have heard some hideous comments made by preachers, ministers, pastors, so-called Christians. I heard one say that autism is not in the Bible so therefore it does not exist, and people who are autistic are possessed. That made me want to throw stuff! And this was a preacher at church.

Sorry for your situation. I’ll pray for you. Don’t give up on God, deal directly with them. The ones that have thoughts like you described and say and do things, the Lord will deal with them in time. Prayers….never stop 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Musically speaking I also like his voice. Regarding the topic, unfortunately these stories are more frequent than we would like. Children should never suffer that someone steals their childhood, many times that will accompany them throughout their lives 😔. They are the most important treasure, who protects them? It's a rhetorical question but, what a shame! Greetings 👋

I know many people hate depressing songs but they are important. We need reminders in life to look around and loo😢 out for children. If your child has a friend clearly in a distressing situation even without violence, take those children to church with your children.

This was my childhood. I went into foster care at 11 and it was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. I consider myself one of the lucky ones and every day I do everything in my power to make sure my children never have to experience what I did. I love this song. Thanks for sharing your stories with us. None of us are alone in this world and communities like this help to remind us of that!
