I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who spotted that! Watching these videos always has that thought lingerin' at the back of my mind... 'are they alone down there? In the dark void emptyness untouched for years and years?'
Thank you. Yes many other people talk a load of rubbish and often speculate when the don't know something. If I don't know something then I'll say so as we don't want to mislead people. If you want a good factual video about a place that most people exadurate and clickbait a lot then I suggest giving our Paris catacombs video a go. Probably one off our most interesting and factual. And none of that "found dead body" crap either 😉👍
That was brilliant. It's even better that it hasn't been trashed by vandals. I love trying to picture what it would have been like in these places when in use, people living and working down there. Amazing. Thank you
My brother and his friend went in one of these tunnels when he was a kid in dover and one time they was just sat down there minding there own business and then out of no where a stone was thrown at them and they both leged it away but my brother got pulled back by his hood by something he said he could not see. he hates talking about it today when i asked him and his now in his 20s.
11:50 My understanding is these pits were to house telephone exchange frames which were too high to fit into the standard tunnel height. So they just dug a pit and then assembled the frame. This meant standard equipment and design could be installed which was far easier than custom builds. And it's also quite likely given how the war department was busily requisitioning bits and pieces left right and center from where ever they could, they pulled the same trick with the post office. The telephone exchange equipment installed in these places would have been raided from post office spares warehouses. So yet another reason why the pits were needed - existing equipment was being installed. This sort of thing is why the Wildfire plotting room is built inside a London Underground tube section exactly the dimensions of a station platform tunnel. And I'm fairly certain I know where this is and who used it.
Hi Simon from what I could see on the piece of newspaper with what looked like a date I screenshot it and managed to get February 22nd 1944. You can see the date at 6:23 just above where it says "NATIONALISED WATER CRY TORIES". A very very unique and cool find with quite a lot still left there which surprised me because as you said they're usually stripped bare. So cool to see no vandalism evident either. I totally agree in keeping it's whereabouts and history secret as that is how awesome historic places like this survive. A great explore, thanks for sharing it with us. x
Great place to find and not vandalised like you said i hope you have spare torches wouldn't want to be down there in the dark to many tunnels and dead ends. The papers looked really good for the age that was good to see.
I'm sure IKS have been here. I remember them laying out the newspaper and commenting on that arch in front of the extra spur too. Great video though. Thanks Simon.
Hi Simon, Golden gems, indeed! - was here last year! 🤦 I'm thinking those deep holes in the floor were cable ducts, or at least, the ones with the cable hangers. I'm a bit intrigued by the long conduit with the lighting spurs every four or five feet. If this was a command centre, would that area have been a telephone switchboard? That would account for the sheer number of lights (one for each operator station). It's difficult to know for sure, about the area where the generator 'might' have been. There was no real evidence of induction or exhaust openings for an engine to run underground. But, as a plant room, that area could also reasonably be the location of the Air Handling Unit (AHU) which would have been a substantially large piece of equipment. Intuitively, there would have been a back-up power plant, or at least one would reasonably think so, and logically, it wouldn't be far from the AHU, if you see where I'm coming from? One thing that was evident, but you didn't mention was the bulging corrugated sheets, and displaced/misshapen rings, both indicative of ground movement. The other guy in the tunnels - was he with you? Or an independent operator? I'm guessing it wasn't Badger?
The other person was spotted at 3.41 and you can hear a few words just before the Battery pic at 11.10. Who do you explore with? I'm guessing folks, golden gem. You been on a visit with Ian? I'd love to visit these places but the chalk indicates Dover/Coastal where as I'm in the West Midlands. It's hard to explore when you don't know where to start but I understand the reasons. Just a bit frustrating for an ex RAF person wanting to see first hand some of History while I can and before it gets ruined. Spent 4 1/2 years in a deep shelter which unfortunately they blew the entrance up of. Other one I worked is still operational.
Nice. Good to see you haven't run out of spaces to find. Now you have the paper's name and date you can register at the National Newspaper Archive and look the edition up. It's one of four national archives that is useful for looking for this type of record. That milk bottle you found I think wasn't introduced until 1980. I wonder what the very light spring scales that were hanging were for?
Great job as always! I'm always on the look for new vids from you and you really did a fine job. Can you imagine the hub-bub that was going on down here? Imagine this place in better days with guys in uniform running to and fro as they conducted their jobs. Like in some of the other videos where the population would have been sheltered out of harms way, I can just imagine the voices and people walking around. I can't say it enough, keep up the good work. Maybe one day, if I ever get back to UK, we can have a beer.
Yes most likely I’ve zoomed in on it and slowed it down looks like a yellow or white jacket with black or blue pants. Could be someone else down there he didn’t know about.the other weird thing is at 11 minutes in you hear a voice say hmmm battery or something lol
hey dude.. noice vid as per usual... Q. Do you ever get any freaky weird vibes when youve been down somewhere? I saw the someone at the 3.41 bit... made me think a bit. April 10th - Good Friday - London ride - Soldiers Ato Z, are you doing it? I'm up in Stoke but gonna head for London and drag as many friends as I can. So might see ya there.
frustrating though it is that you don't desclose where these places are, but maximum respect for doing so! it breaks my heart whern i find old places that twats have destroyed. but i would love to know where places like this are so i can see them with my own eyes.
Too bad a can't give you more than one thumbs up on this one. On the pits in the floor I have a feeling that you might find that they could be more open space under the floor for heavy cables. That or drainage. I have to wonder about the tin on the inside. It looked like the wood went behind it. Maybe they had water runing down and they put it up to keep if off equipment.
It's funny that some else mentioned in the comments they thought they saw someone, I'm pretty sure I heard some one I'm not sure exactly what time in the video it was but it was very early on at the start, and I also had a weird feeling you weren't alone? 🤔 I'll go look see if I can find the exact time when I heard another voice and then come back to the comment and edit it in xx Around 11.10 - 11.12
Yeah i thought there was somebody walking to the right but i didnt see any legs or something so could be something hanging on the side and you cant see it right cause of the cameraposition
When you turn at 3:41 it looks like someone turns the corner to hid out of sight. You there alone or with people?
I see it to lol
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who spotted that! Watching these videos always has that thought lingerin' at the back of my mind... 'are they alone down there? In the dark void emptyness untouched for years and years?'
I'm pretty sure he's not down there on his own
Thats creepy as
@@Exoamylase I hope he's does not go down in these places alone.
Your simple narration is great, so many others just talk rubbish, simple and factual is best👍
Thank you. Yes many other people talk a load of rubbish and often speculate when the don't know something. If I don't know something then I'll say so as we don't want to mislead people. Your knowledge of the underground is amazing. These videos are so valuable as you inform us as to what we see and why. Thanks
Great video and great find. Thanks for being so respectful and not naming these locations to avoid them getting trashed.
Wow the paper is in a good condition for that age. The Tunnel must be very dry
I definitely see someone in the corner of that side room at 3:42 .
Yup, definitely someone there!
He took a step backwards. Yellow jacket, or hoodie and bluejeans.
Ya definitely a person there moving out the way
My brother and his friend went in one of these tunnels when he was a kid in dover and one time they was just sat down there minding there own business and then out of no where a stone was thrown at them and they both leged it away but my brother got pulled back by his hood by something he said he could not see. he hates talking about it today when i asked him and his now in his 20s.
the paper is absolutely amazing as is the explore!!! i'm jealous wish we had accessible deep shelters where i am!!
Awesome bunker! Thanks for sharing and also keeping the location secret.
Good to see its clean no tagging away from kids and destroyers. Am exploring ww2 in my country also.
Awesome place , great job capturing the beauty of being untouched .

Wow what an interesting bunker network 😎📸 nice one Simon

Very nice Simon and its good to see it has been preserved. 👍 🍻
I learned where the entrance is to the underground submarine missile store on Portland. You have to keep these places secret, as intended. Nice video.
14:36 give a board soldier anything that can write and you will get one of those drawn.
One of the best most furnished bunkers I’ve seen in a while.
1st class video to watch thank you take care kind regards from me kenneth💝💝💝👍

Great explore place is in good condition including the papers. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🛸🛸
'I'm not finding dead bodies' so true, some other channels really ruin the explore by making shit up.
GREAT STUFF BUDDY, WELCOME BACK.
It’s a shame the metal thief’s have made a mess. Interesting newspapers
Brilliant video. Loved it
Great explore as usual bro....looking forward to more sweet vids !

Awesome video like always bud but at 3:41 there is something very strange 😱
It's gotta be his buddy. Yellow coat, blue jeans. Not a ghost.
Yes most likely I’ve zoomed in on it and slowed it down looks like a yellow or white jacket with black or blue pants. Could be someone else down there he didn’t know about.the other weird thing is at 11 minutes in you hear a voice say hmmm battery or something lol
Or black trousers and camo 😉🤣😂🤣
What was that at 3:42 as you turned the corner someone backed up . Hope it's a friend lol
Always love these👌
Excellent! Love when you find the untrashed ones
On one of the stills at the end of the newspaper dated March 3, 1944. My birthday.
Great video as usual. I thing you are right the pits look like drainage sumps pit.
Great explore Mate, nice to see one that’s vandal free. keep that one secret. 😉
Great video At about 14. 45 46 I thought I saw a little cloud of something it might not be anything
Well interesting , especially the news papers . Say nout and keep it safe .
I think the pits in the floor were probably for storing food as it would stay alot cooler under the floor 👍
Really interesting this one. Great
Pretty crazy looking batteries aren't they
Another great vid 👍👍
Fuck me man the old Chloride batteries that’s nuts
What a jem of a spot nice one brov
Amazing
are they gonna restore all the bunker

hey dude.. noice vid as per usual...
At 3.40 to 3.44 there is a person walking to the right out of sight I keep playing it back. Simon have a look yourself
Or was you with anyone and not say on camera
😂🤣😂🤣
Clearly a less well known place given all the artefacts remaining and the lack of tagging
Never knew that they were wood lined , mind you I've never been in one .
There is someone down there with him 11.13 can hear them talking when he's explaining about batteries
frustrating though it is that you don't desclose where these places are, but maximum respect for doing so! it breaks my heart whern i find old places that twats have destroyed. but i would love to know where places like this are so i can see them with my own eyes.

Around 11.10 - 11.12
whos the guy at the end of the tunnel at 3.42 ?
A ghost 😂🤣😂🤣
How deep is the bunker under the earth? I don't see any concrete either...
It's a pity IKS never find excellent things like this .. Thanks
They did! They were here last year.
Yup they were indeed
Ghost @ 3:40 :)
👻 unless that's was your friend think you had a Ghost 3:40 backing back ?? 👻👻
You are so lucky there is none of these in the u.s.
Dover
No bathrooms?
Installed incorrectly . Left &Right Upside down.
Where you there on ya own just watched this at 3.40min as you turn to look down there tunnel someone walks off to the right definitely a person
Yeah i thought there was somebody walking to the right but i didnt see any legs or something so could be something hanging on the side and you cant see it right cause of the cameraposition
Thank you for an interesting video. Get a mask though.
11.12 someone talking a few words? Can't make it out. Who went with you?
😂🤣😂🤣
If you want to know more about the Leclanche cell, Big Clive too a look at one here: QLFs8Uf70ko
Sorry that site should be Wright's Hill Fortress.org.nz
Did you met anyone living there from people who voted to stay? By now, they should be panicking that the end is near.
