We ride on the BR 23 023 of the Stoom Stichting Nederland, at a maximum speed of 100 kph.. This locomotive is pulling the Nostalgie Express today and it runs from Rotterdam via Gouda, Utrecht, 's-Hertogenbosch and Nijmegen to Arnhem. Finally the train continues to Beekbergen to fetch water and to turn the locomotive. Cabview Heritage is fully participating and this ride will be posted in stages over the coming year. This is part 1 of the ride: We depart from Rotterdam Central and drive to Utrecht Central. We rijden op de BR 23 023 van de Stoom Stichting Nederland met een maximum snelheid van 100 kpu. Deze loc trekt vandaag de Nostalgie Express en deze rijdt van Rotterdam via Gouda, Utrecht, 's-Hertogenbosch en Nijmegen naar Arnhem. Uiteindelijk rijdt de trein door naar Beekbergen om water te halen en om de loc te keren. Cabview Heritage rijdt helemaal mee en deze rit zal het komende jaar in etappes gepubliceerd worden. Bedankt weer voor de mooie video.
Ik heb er weer van genoten. De 23 serie locomotieven daar heb ik herinneringen aan. In 2006 reed ik een leuke rit met de STAR in Veendam waar de 23023 van SSN op bezoek was. Een aantal andere keren reed ik mee met de VSM oa met 23076. Maar volgens mij reed ik daar ook nog een keer met de 23023 van SSN tijdens een "Terug naar Toen". Dat zijn echte geniet weekeinden op een campinkje "langs de lijn" in Lieren. Voor je caravan met een biertje genieten van al dat stoomgeweld. Ik kan er geen genoeg van krijgen.
De mooiste camping van Nederland, lijkt me :-)

I saw green trees, steam power, obviously summer weather with the computer screen split picture which promised the high quality but underpaid Cabview Holland Dutch Railway trainspotter additions to the ride. (right on trainspotters... como siempre... as always... great work!... even though Señor Cabview doesn't pay you... is he cheap? He can afford to. Wanna have me organize you? Unionize?). Well, anyway, I shifted from my normal powdered donuts to a glazed breakfast type cake with my coffee to make this repeat a new experience for me. Gracias a todos. Maar in uw omschrijving stond dat station alexander in ik meen 1983 verbouwd is maar net voor of tijdens de corona is het opnieuw verbouwd en is er zelfs een stuk bij gebouwd.
Ja klopt. Moet ik elke verbouwing noemen? Wanneer is het een verbouwing? Over het algemeen hou ik dit aan: als het stationsgebouw gesloopt of vervangen wordt, en dat was hier in 1983. Het originele zeshoekige gebouw is toen gesloopt. De huidige verbouwing vind ik niet noemenswaardig genoeg.

Mooi om te zien hoe sterk en snel deze locomotief kan. Deze zal geen last hebben van spanningssluizen ;) Waar parkeren jullie zo'n locomotief als deze wanneer deze niet gebruikt wordt?
En hoe lang duurt het om zo'n locomotief gereed te hebben vanaf een koude start? Ga zo door!
De thuisbasis is bij Rotterdam Noord Goederen. Ik geloof dat er 8 uur voorbereiding nodig is..
Nu gaan er meteen een paar honderd klimaatactivisten op het spoor liggen

Couple of times a year, always from Rotterdam.
After all that time spent in the cabin of a modern engine with an unobstructed view, do you get a little nervous on corners when you cant see what's coming up? What a great ride! 👍
Added to that, you are also sitting on the footplate with a 200+ lb/in2 steaming pressure vessel just in front of you. Firing those machines does keep you fit though. I can imagine the fireman on that machine has his/her work cut out for them.
I was not the driver here.. You get used to the obstructed view. The kettle looks longer due to the wide angle lens.
Great vantage point for the video. Having worked, in the past with UK steam, I just wondered why the locomotive, here, always seems to have it's cylinder drain cocks open well after any movement from standstill ? Unless that rapid hissing sound is something else. If it is the sound of the drain cocks blowing steam wouldn't they be closed off soon after departure since any water that may have built up would have been blown out by then. ?
This question has been asked many times here and we are still looking for the answer.. Do you have any idea?
@@CabviewHolland It might be policy to keep them open. It might be an old "wive's tale" but leaving them open, on the reverse stroke can drag cool air in (in theory) but in the UK I wouldn't expect to see them open for long. After all it's a precaution to avoid any residual water remaining within the cylinders prior to any movement from standing. If a locomotive tries to compress water (which doesn't by nature compress) then it can lead to the bending of a motion rod. Even worse when a loco gets into a slip as it starts away, especially on a wet rail, it can "hydraulic" and cause damage. Anyway just an observation. I must stress this is NOT a criticism of the efforts put in by all concerned and thanks for the video upload. I myself spent many hours helping with these fantastic "beasts" when I was younger......👍👍
