@@danielyeke2633 Plz go for the above solution by restarting your windows explorer and try some solution otherwise u need to factory reset just like me becz your registry got corrupted .... Otherwise use it in the same way and install the substitutes of the default application
If you press the windows key you should be able to use the search bar. If it still does not allow you to type then you can open the command prompt by opening the 'Run' program and typing cmd and then pressing Ctrl+Shift+Enter
Literally... Almost every time this happens to me I had to update Windows, and if that's not the solution I can always resolve it by simply doing a hard shutdown of the computer.
why does it do it tho? i just restart my pc whenever i got that error but almost 3 - 4 times a week i have to restart my pc in the middle of the day and that's annoying.

@Richa open task manager and restart windows explorer from there. Restart your system and it should work.

@@wet7966 That would be for the 'Run" program, not search function from the start menu.
an easier fix would be to right click on the jpg or png file --> select "open with" --> select paint
dcomcnfg.exe ... class not registered
