Agreed, but I doubt that that would ever happen though. This showcase from the direct basically proved that Nintendo wants to forget that Mario & Luigi even existed.
I’m actually interested in how Culex will be handled in a full 3D remake. His whole character was meant to poke fun at Final Fantasy’s 2D sprites after all. And since he’s one of the toughest bosses in the game, I wonder how much harder his rematch will be (if he gets one).
i'm REALLY hoping they're still keeping him as a 2D sprite in the remake, with the japanese text translated accurately.

I wouldn't mind rewriting the game's entire dialogue to match the Japanese version better, (like Chrono Trigger on DS/Steam/Mobile) but I would miss some of Ted's corny jokes.

I'm usually very critical about remakes remixing music of classic games *glares at the Link's Awakening Remake* but so far from what I'm hearing the remixed music is _excellent_ and since this trailer teased the Culex Battle I'm hoping that battle theme remix is a grand slam.

It's very reminiscent of the Live A Live remake in that respect.
The tease for how to access the epic hidden boss battle was the best part of the trailer. They know what we are really hyped for.

I am curious if Culex/Crystaler will be a 3D epic boss, or 2D handrawn FF stylized. Either style would look cool.

Fans of the original know why he’s small and if I wasn’t one of them I’d be asking myself why he’s small Mario the entire game. Don’t think keeping the original proportions was a smart move.

When I heard the new version of "Beware of the Mushroom Forest" I shed a tear. It's really happening... Gene is coming home and one of the best RPG of the SNES Era is returning.

The perfect timing AOE-damage and the Triple Move seems to make this game easier, and more accessible to newcomers, but I'm glad that we also get post-game boss fights that help them keep up with these additions.

The amount of effort they put into this is staggering compared to what we usually get
It reminds me of how above and beyond they went for Advance Wars Reboot camp. with the voice acting, animated cutscenes and general quality of life features. It not only really justifies rebuying the games, but shows they care so much it's actually worth the $50-$60.
I actually felt like a special 3-person move was something that would be in Super Mario RPG cause of the limit being 3 characters active. Looks like Nintendo gave it just what it needed!
And I may be crazy, but does it appear that the move itself changes based on both the party AND who initiates it?! I know Mario has to always be part of the team, but still having a changing ultimate is pretty awesome!
There's all the cool stuff and then there's Booster finally getting to use his train for an OHKO in combat. Looks like us Mario RPG fans might get train-related trauma a second time around.

The post-game battles are what I would expect from a fan reimagining of this game, and I wouldn't have it any other way! They also really pack a punch, too! I wasn't expecting Booster, of all people, to have an attack that annihilates the whole party! Jynx and even Culex are likely blushing.
I wish they still had “legend of the seven stars” in the name. Made it feel more grand.
I kinda miss it too, but then again it's a bit misleading as there really isn't a "legend" in the game. I think they simplified it to just SMRPG, because that's all it was called in Japan.
I wonder if the Culex battle will change the game perspective to look like Final Fantasy 7-10 where it's directly behind the party instead of above them to preserve how Culex is a Final Fantasy reference without keeping him as a battler sprite.
Super Mario RPG was the first RPG I ever played, like 5 years ago. I played it on the SNES classic edition, after years of not playing videogames, sinche my childhood. I wasn't interested in RPGs at all, so I played all the fun games, and when I was done, I decided to give it a try - it had to be good, it was a Mario game, right? It was really good, I loved it, and I cherish it very much. It opened the door to other great games, Earthbound, for example, which is probably my favourite game of all times.
I recently bought a snes classic just to play this game as buying snes console with Mario rpg would be around $200. Soo far I love it! Can't wait to play more when I'm free lol

I remember playing this and FFVII religiously. Probably my first game to 100%. Culex was definitely one of the hardest bosses I ever fought in a JRPG.
And now the game has limit-gauge specials like FF7.
Culex can see your past and Culex can see your future, but he couldn't see those super bosses coming!

It didn't occur to me at first but I am so psyched to finally hear an official remastered version of Rose Town. I hope they knock it out of the park with the music in this game.
Rose Town is one of the best in the game. But, I can't wait to hear Let's Go Down the Wine River. That was always my favorite song to listen to.

1. I hope one day since Boshi is back, maybe he could appear as a playable character in other Mario spin-off games, like Mario Kart, Mario Party, Mario Sports, Super Smash Bros, and even Mario and Sonic.
2. Hopefully one day, Paper Mario 64 will be remastered too because it was originally called Super Mario RPG 2 under development. Kooper, the Koopa Bros, the Yoshi Village Leader, and the Fearsome 5 would make a great return!

(fangirl squeal) OMG, everything looks totally sweet so far! I really love the addition of Triple Moves and that there are now animated cutscenes! I have lots more ideas for new features in the remake of Super Mario RPG, including new playable characters (Luigi and Princess Daisy are two of them) and full voice acting! I think that all of the enemies in the game should use their modern names, including Beezos. I originally wanted the Chancellor to be replaced by Toadsworth, but since the Chancellor is staying, I guess that won’t happen. However, I still think that Toadsworth could appear in the remake too! Maybe Toadsworth and the Chancellor are related! I also think that the story should be expanded, Mallow and Geno should have more characterization, lines and interactions with the other characters, especially each other (I see them as best friends), there should be a flashback cutscene when Frogfucius tells Mallow how he found him, the types of armor that the characters wear should have new designs (with the “Shirts” that Mario wears being renamed Overalls), there should be new armor and weapons, Mario’s Pad should be called Mario’s House, Mushroom Kingdom should be called Toad Town (it’ll be referred to as the capitol of the Mushroom Kingdom in the game), Mushroom Castle should be called Peach’s Castle, Bowser’s Keep should be called Bowser’s Castle, Yo’ster Isle should be called Yoshi’s Island, Nimbus Land should be called the Cloud Kingdom, the Nimbus species should be renamed Cirrs and Mallow’s parents should get first names: either Cumulo or Cumulus for King Nimbus, and either Strata or Skyheart for Queen Nimbus. I also found a totally sweet fanfic focusing on Mallow! It’s called Through the Eyes of a Frog Prince, and it’s really good! It should definitely be a chapter book that comes exclusively with the game! Of course, it'll have to be edited for modern times too, and I think that there should be new cutscenes in the game from Mallow’s perspective, and the existing scenes should be identical to the ones in the fanfic! Mallow is very precious, and he definitely deserves more love! I hope that he and Geno will appear in many more Mario games after this game is released! I also want there to be a brand new original song with lyrics added to the game! I’m so hyped for this game’s release, as well as Super Mario Bros. Wonder, the remake of Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, the last wave of the Booster Course Pass in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and especially Princess Peach: Showtime! I also really hope that Nintendo will someday make New Super Mario Bros. 3, a remake of and a sequel to Super Princess Peach, remakes of Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Super Mario Galaxy 3, Mario Kart 9, remakes of the first Paper Mario game and Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time, a Switch port of Paper Mario: Color Splash, a brand new Mario vs. Donkey Kong game, a new Mario Baseball game and a remake of and a sequel to Mario Sports Mix! I came up with some totally sweet ideas for them, and I hope that all of you and Nintendo will love them all just as much as I do! I just can’t wait for the remake of Super Mario RPG to be released! I actually had trouble with Croco and Bundit as a kid, because I didn't understand that grinding for Experience points was necessary.
I second this, while I know the game was kinda easy back in the day, I hope they allow us to turn off the aoe timed attack, I want to sit down, enjoy the OST not end the battle after a single turn haha

This was my FAVORITE game on SNES! I'm so freaking excited! I remember it was impossible for me to find to buy, so I had to use my mom's boyfriend's parents' game. lol. They let me take it with me when we would go home to play. The additions look like a lot of fun, too! I've always wanted Geno and Mallow and these lands to come back in the new games. The closest I can think of is the Paper Mario game on N64. The new Paper Mario games are just not for me.
