Same problem in FL. 2005 titan. Truck runs like a champ but the damn leak was a problem. since i'm not one to care if the truck is showroom ready, it's a truck, I hit the trouble area with a small amount of JB weld. that covered the crack and I shaped it so the water could not pool in that area. No leaks 2 years later.
Excellent. Thank you for your time with the video. Saved me a lot of time tracking it down. Bought a used 2011 pro 4X. Love it till I washed it the other day. Couldn't figure it out. You are like the ONLY you tube video on this. Thank you again. I'll be calling the roof rails and let you know how it goes.
Tony you are the reason why RUclips is so useful! Noticed tint leak a few weeks ago during light rain. Searched for hours couldn't figure it out for the life of me. Long behold this was my issue and thank ths most high for you!!
My 09 Titan Crew Cab is doing the same thing, but the water is mostly accumulating along the roof by my seatbelt column & causing my seatbelt to be soaking wet after every hard rain. Thank you for your video, could not figure it out and really didn’t want to take everything apart to find out the cause. Your a life saver! I also live in central Florida. These Titan’s are great trucks, mechanically it’s been so dependable with no major issues for over 100k miles... But the only two things that absolutely suck are the interior plastic parts & the exterior paint... my overhead console became brittle, pieces crack & break off every time I opened an overhead compartment now. And just about every 06’ to 12’ Titan I see around has the paint job fading on the hood, roof &/ or front bumper... like the clear coat Nissan used completely bakes off after a few years of exposure to FL sun... and it seems worse on the black ones like my truck. But besides that, it’s been a terrific truck. Thanks again!
Good luck with the leak. I got my truck repainted on behalf of nissan north america due to the fack that they could not match the paint on my truch back to factory after a drunk lady hit it. Turned out there was a paint defect and it could not be matched so my dealer got approval to repaint the whole truck so it could match.
Thank you Tone for this tutorial. My 05 black titan is getting moisture in the truck and I couldn't figure out where it came from. Now I know where to start.
Thanks Tony, I feel the pain of all the work it takes to gut the interior of seats, panels and carpet in order to find what I think is multiple water leaks. I am a Nissan fan but I could drop kick this Titan in a second if I could afford to replace it. Thanks for the tip. As I start to seal up all the other leaks, I will pull up that roof strip and seal that also.
Wow Tony Great video Thank you so much for all of the work you did I felt my leak was from this rain troft but on the passenger side near the windsheild now I have my ammo to take to the dealer to get this fixed Again Thank you
i just recently purchased a 2010 titan and just today it poured rain here in Arizona (monsoon season) when my mother was sitting in the back seat and she noticed the rear seats along with the head rest were soaked in water and water was coming in through the top of the back window and just checked out the rear window and 3rd brake light and everything is all good could it be the same issue you had ? what product did you use to seal the cracks? please respond thank you
Thanks Tony. After removing the headliner, checking the sunroof drains, caulking the roof rack bolts, and testing the rear window and roof antenna...our main leak was a faulty weld in the roof track/runner. 2008 Nissan Frontier.
I have not had a leak since I put the silicone on the top of the roof where the joint is (back top of driver side of roof as shown in video) I know for certain now that my leaking issues have been resolved. good luck.
I just bought a 2006 Titan, and after a week of owning it, I found the same issue. Water coming in from the back somewhere. I was thinking the same thing as you. I narrowed it down to those seams, and I'v bought the silicone to try to reseal them. Thanks for the video! Hopefully my results will be as good as yours!
Tony Broderick Hi Tony, my '06 had the exact problem. Water under front mats on both sides. Mine was the brake light and seam you pointed out. Thanks for the vid
Hey Tony. That roof ditch sealer is applied by robot at the factory and sometimes doesn't come all the way to the back of the seam like it should - that's one cause and can happen on fairly new vehicles. In your case the sealer has gotten old and pulled away from the roof ditch and created the crack. It shouldn't do that, but age and UV penetration takes its toll eventually - on older vehicles obviously. My '04 is doing the same thing. That silicone will get old and expose the crack again so you need to monitor it and replace as necessary to prevent more leaks. Excellent video my friend!
I have an 2006 Titan that I just came in possession of, and I notice a leak on the passenger floorboard under the floor mat. Front and back seat. I sealed up the center brake light, and the front plastic cowl. Still have the leak. I'm going to try your idea and use some flex seal on both rain drain rails on the roof. I'll keep everyone posted.
Thanks for the video. It solved my problem when the dealer couldn't. I had a leak from interior passenger side upper corner of windshield. Thanks to your video, I caulked the same place in the back of the rain track and no more leaks. The water was leaking through the joint in the depressed area you showed and tracking to the front. WTF. I've or 20 cars in my lifetime and never a leak through the frame. By the way I have a mint condition, low miles 2013 Nissan Frontier.
Thanks for the vid. It's shocking that this problem has gone on spanning several years and Nissan hadn't done anything to address this terrible assembly flaw. I was wondering how difficult it was to remove and to reinstall the headliner. I have not found a video on the topic of removal and it would be very helpful. I'd like to install cab marker lights. Thanks again for the very helpful video.🙋
My 08 did/does the same, I replaced the windshield and haven't noticed the floorboard wet but it does leak from the headboard right where the 3rd brake light is, thought maybe a bad seal or something.
Hey Jesus, I never had water on the headrest but I can only suggest closing the windows and using a water hose, run the water wide open from the top portion of the brake light for a few minutes and see what happens. if nothing is found do the same thing with water hose on roof seem starting with side of head rest that had been wet.
Thank you for the video, I have been trying to figure this problem out with no luck . Till now!! Mine leaks on both sides and this would makes sense as to where it could be coming from. Can not wait till tomorrow to investigate it.
I bought a new 21 pro4x water poured out the heater vent. Less than 500 miles . Told me to take my pick on lot so I get another 21 pro4x n 16000 miles same thing diffrent truck. Apparently the panoramic moon roofs drains are being kinked from factory. Some have been installed crooked so there installed improperly. Those cracks are a glue that's very thick chances are that's not leaking that would be really bad because nissan states if that were issue ud loose truck for months for repair the glue wld be cut out n separated n replied. That's a true worse case generic. The dealer would do a pressure test to determine where leak is before u go cutting into a glued panel.
Wow this is still an issue with the 2023 models...WTF..I JUST BOUGHT A 2023 PRO4X AND MY SEAM IS NOT LEAKING BUT IT LOOK LIKE IT WILL IN THE FUTURE NOT SURE WHAT TO DO ..SUCKS MAN!!!
I have a 2007 Titan SE, except the water wouldn’t drip down the A pillar but will drop down the B pillar and onto my seat belt. I do have a seam like dried and cracked clear coat and/or paint on the roof in the drip rails like u showed. Do u possibly think it is the same issue?
I do not know, but I would clean the whole channel real good then silicon the whole area being that you don't know exactly where the entry point is. The entry point is never where you think it is. Good luck.
I have leaking problem on my 2010 nissan titan 5 years with this problem tell dealer never found the problem now after 600 hundred dollars and few trip to the dealer and some body shop they said is the roof the track maybe has some small crack ,they want 1000 for the repair:( .....my leaking is in my driving seat belt hidden part and the top the headline....
@@tonybroderick6590 If I do find the leak, that means I would have to seal from the inside because if I seal from the top, then paint over it, the paint might not stick to that area?
It all depends on the outlet that is doing the painting. If they will take care of it. But you decide to do it before or after. But you have to find where the leak is first.
kameron flanagan. just the small area in the back. If you look real close, you would, or I did see a small hair line crack in the paint, that was my problem.
Tony Broderick, Yeah, I have a crack their not sure if that was cause of my leak but I silicone it anyways and cleaned out both of my sunroof drains. I hope it fixes my problem. I thought like you did at first that it my be the rivets so I silicone around them as well.
Same problem here wet on drivers side behind the rear seat, and really wet on passenger side under the dash. I found a crack near the rivet on the driver side and the weld broke off on the passenger side next to the rivet. Also the weld under the rear window was leaking as well.Ill seal everything with silicone. Nissan should get their ass whipped for this type of product. Next on the list is the clicking under the dash

Thanks for the video, my 2008 leaks passenger side rear. I assumed it was the track, but haven't addressed it yet, this gives me a place to start
My Titan is doing the same thing and I'm here in Houston and it rains a lot here also, thanks for your video.

Steve Frye it was not hard at all to take down the headliner. Just be careful around DVD players and sun roofs.
Did it fix how did you fix it

My roof is leaking too. My roof overall does need a paint job. Do you think a paint job on the roof will solve the issue?
You would have to find yhe leak, fix the leak, test it to make sure no more water is getting in before you get a paint job.

No. just silicon the outer area, forcing it in the crack with my clean finger.
