It’s the thing I screwed up in my early days. I didn’t watch great films or tv shows for learning because I saw it as different medium to animation so less useful but as time goes on and looking more into great films, it is beneficial even for animation
Definitely. Consuming other mediums can also serve as general inspiration even if you don't necessarily learn anything technical. Sometimes there's a really good part in a song, or a beautifully written paragraph in a book where I'll imagine the scene in my head, then be compelled to draw a quick board of it lol.
this video made me realize how the slow death of physical media means kids today are probably less likely to see storyboarding stuff. I used to love watching behind the scenes extras on DVDs, that stuff was so inspiring.
Amazing! Look like a comics excellent
2:56 Can you provide a link to the picture to that template? I want to use it, I love making boards of films to study also!
I hate doing this personally, but I know it works for many people and helps organize stuff
It's also a necessary technique for non-solo projects
It’s wild when I think back to when I was doing a degree for animation and special effects and iPad didn’t even exist 😂
Amazing advice as always, Toniko!
I don't have a tablet but i recently got a drawing tablet with a screen for Christmas so I'll try doing this!
im not an aspiring story artist, but thanks for the video!
Heh. I remember going to college with a guy who did this all the time. he'd sit and storyboard things happening around him. he had about 20 sharpened pencils on the go at any time. He wasnt the best artist, by he was the fastest I have EVER seen. he worked in courts for a while and has done some newspaper stuff. Now he works freelance on a whole bunch of things. we used to call him sketch and i'm suddenly horrified to realise, I have no idea what his real name even is.
do you have the template for procreate? :) i would love to use it!! awesome video!!
