I'd have touched up that paint on the Fiesta, first car most important buy, that car is more special to them than any other they'll buy, make it look as good as possible (without going daft). Cheap fog machines off eBay good for clearing smells, get loads of different flavours 😁 Boot it up bung the air con on re-circ, no more bad odours 👍
Two things I’d check on that ds. One being the chain tensioner make it’s not just that’s going as will be much cheaper than a whole chain job and also fuel regulator valve. Last car had same issue of lumpy idle sometimes it was just that progressively got worse until it always idled like that and I changed it.
From what I seen yes. It’s at the top by the cams on most chain engines I’ve seen and the tensioner are made of plastic usually hence them always failing!
Chain tensioner is a screw in type at the back, bit like minis, bit dodgy changing it tho, chain may jump, I'd leave it alone if its OK now (ish), guy above is thinking about the guides

James, if people like yourself ran governments around the world, we would all be living in paradise.... Compassion, empathy and a feeling for the people that you are dealing with. You can be proud of yourself, to be a great example to society. 🤝
Hi James. Mitsubishi. I think to adjust the door mirrors. You have to press the mirror glass manually. Up, Down, Left, Right. Driver side no problem. leaning over through an open passenger window. Not so good. Could be wrong but that's what I think. See you in the next one. 👍👍
This was how cars were in the 1980s & 1990s. Base to mid range Metros, Fiestas, Novas and Unos etc all had manual everything, and you usually had to pay extra for a radio, floor mats and mudflaps. Some didn't even have a rear wiper or a passenger side door mirror. Thing is, we just accepted it and appreciated the simplicity (less to go wrong). I think we're a bit spoilt these days, and convince ourselves we need all kinds of gadgets that we could manage perfectly well without if we tried. Manufacturers don't seem to realise there is quite a healthy market for simple and straightforward cars offered at a lower price point for people who just want a car, rather than an overpriced gin palace laden with electronic nonsense. Personally, I commend Mitsubishi for making a car like this, and really wish more companies would offer similar products. The Mirage is A-OK in my book. I'd buy one.
James the reason that Rav 4 starts slowly is because you need to wait for the glow plug light to go out with the ignition on before you turn the key. If you turn it beforehand it won't crank properly until they are ready, all older diesels do this.
Have you tried a small commercial Ozonizer to kill bacteria using Ozone. Two two hrs treatments over two consecutive days then some time for the ozone odour to clear. More time overall than a “clean up” yet very little or no labour hours...

It might be that it wasn't driven enough, some people do not do enough driving on new cars and don't get them up to a proper operating temp, then conditions being suitable, drive it at speed for a few miles. It's amazing the difference that a good drive makes .
Great content, not many dealers would have gone 60/40 on the bill for the rav he should be well chuffed, shame on the up headlights,I was a bit confused with why Moores brought the fiesta to you tbh as you as you were walking round it saying it was great and only thing wrong was the bit of paint which you wouldn't have done yourself anyway so didn't get it tbh, love your story at the end on the px price and the auto trader and Facebook price I think you got a bit confused but I watched it back a few times to understand it🤣🤣,great job though james👍👍
One of the cars I had smelled of stale milk, no matter how many cleans I did on it , it never went. The garage I had it from would not tell me what they used to cover the smell , possily because that would give me ammunition to complain back at them. I only wanted to know what made the car smell so good.As it was a Plymouth dealership I did ask if it was pasty based but even that didn't crack a smile. Bless their cotton / woolen/ acrylic / polyester / and other a, aa, bcd , e , fgh , efgehd , ef , g and hlm socks. Always inclusive in Norf Devun, lol.
Get a can of the proper Neutradol, not the cheaper version,my car had hay bales in it,stunk even after a wet vac. Spray in the vents too, leave over nite, then spray with a decent, proper air fresh & it'll be great. What does help also,is putting some liquid air freshener with the cleaning chemical in the wet vac...nice top tip for those smelly vehicles that come in.
That Mitsubishi Mirage, OK it's boring basic but it's a 5 door 2015 car that's never been written off and doesn't have all that many miles on it for under £5k. That'll be a fantastic bargain for someone who wants a very cheap but later year car.

Great video bud, best of luck with that ds, I've had a right day of it with my Isle of Wight freelander complaint, be a good story for your armchair theatre, you've done well getting away with cheap costs on that rav, your getting clever, next stop 50/50!!
@@ChopsGarage it's a young girl, basically she couldn't pull the handbrake on as she was so far forward, I obviously said I'd sort it but theyve gone back to the Isle of Wight, it was fine anyway, then it's my garage will do it and check the car over, vehicle was mint, no advisories but 09 freelander at 141k miles, cheapest one on for a new shape 3700,her garage has got hold of it, removed the sill plastics, found rust, knocked it thru, right mess, charged her 250 quid for a handbrake cable as well, she's regecting it now, I've said fair enough bring it back, her choice to come 300 miles for it, no its unroadwothy you come for it with a pick up, no says I, I'll either refund you, back to base wise, pay a reasonable price for repair or I'll repair it, also a shock and a disc, also I said it was a chain, early ones are and apparently it's a belt, she's called the garages in the service book (!) and it's not had a belt, great memory those garages, looks like court now, car looks a right mess now with sill covers off and holes, I'd send 500 quid to pay for repairs but this Garage is taking the p**s, I'm sure I don't stand well legally, also she says 50 quid a day storage, she's a nasty piece of work, it's one for your legal brain bud, in a nightmare this one, rusty sill, didn't see that coming, mot wise a tester cant remove anything, like sill covers so it's never been noted
@@roystonvehicles9129 It passed a mot. Its roadworthy. If their garage says not they can contact vosa. Removing sill covers is not part of any test! They decided to come 300 miles and are responsible to return the car. They have now modified your vehicle its not being returned as it was! Again storage, well thats not your look out. They have a driveway that is free and the car was road legal to drive there prior to thier garage jacking into it! Id stick by refund if returned as it left (ie put back together). Id stick to my guns on this
@@ChopsGarage good advice bud, but if I end up in court big holes in sills look bad, but yes I'm going to stick them out, but say like on old cortinas the inner sills used to go but a tester felt them thru the carpet, legally if they find a fault in first 30 days and regect the car you have to pick it up, but what about the one chance rule to let you fix it? It doesnt seem clear, surely it's not playing the game to come to a small trader for a bargain and then go St to a big dealer? Anyway see what the next few days brings, can do with not having to go to court in the Isle of Wight (!)
@@ChopsGarage mot was done in November at a main dealer, but it's only 3 mths for a vosa complaint for rust, other items are 28 days, its like you say probably 12 plate (ish) and above, 09 is a bit old now, if she'd not been so up her a*se no one would have been any the wiser, she didn't like it when I told her people pay 60k for landies to avoid this sort of trouble, also told her champagne tastes, I mean what is it pay 3700,i send her 2k so she's got a 09 freelander 2 (most are 7k plus) for 1700 quid! It all a bit unfair.
You would be surprised how many people (I'm one of them ) who don't want a car to be perfect, and don't mind the odd scratch provided the price is dropped a bit instead
As a viewer from the United States I am frankly amazed that UK used car dealers have to provide so much coverage on older high mileage vehicles. In the US used vehicles are sold "AS IS" unless they are covered by remaining factory warranty or a aftermarket warranty purchased separately. Most after market warranties wouldn't cover vehicles the age and mileage you deal with either. A lot can happen to a vehicle in six months and the dealer is screwed.
@@ChopsGarage sadly no more. The days of the loss leader £5995 headline price that few bought are long gone. Dacia gone way of Skoda while I love my £2k from small dealer 63 plate 2 1/2 years ago, even I have to advise unless you love basic no elec windows central locking etc paying more for some goodies will make it easier to sell and get most or all back when you do- or be minimal cost over time if keep till scrap. Got to realise when you are not normal. 😂 buying second hand you get someone else’s choice of radio
James, you don't have the best track record with Fiestas 😉 Tell Moor's if they want it to go mouldy and get sold sometime in November they're in luck! 😂
Flog the wrong VW headlamps on ebay - get £100 for quick sale? I would get the bumpers on the Fiesta fixed by your dent guy - faults stand out too much if you want a quick sale? Fair price on the Rav4 as is but it would look so much better with the headlamps and door polished - with the tyres it's probably going to be assured cheap motoring for some years.
You want to watch Jason bud at TK, he went to great lengths to explain why he offers f**k all for his p exs, 100 quid on a c3, 150 on a 08 focus, he's a hard man, bet customers love him, but it's a tactic to use.
@@ChopsGarage I left a comment about how you can get at least 300 from these Internet scrap people, so 100 quid is a bit unfair, he wasn't very complementary!!
Rob and Chris are on with a Peugeot with the same engine as your ds mate, they can't find a used unit so are going to rebuild the existing one, hope you'll not be in that position, might be James and Chris!
And the Mitsubishi Mirage sucks balls , they should never have replaced the Colt but they did it to cut costs i reckon as the old Colt was a much better drivers car
Exhausts are not covered by any warranties even of cars that are not already 16years old. When you buy a car this age the responsibility for maintenance falls on you. This customer said it was not blowing in the first 2 weeks he had it so it was not a fault at point of sales. The law only makes you responsible for faults present at point of sale. Don't forget a full refund was offered! He had a choice but wanted to keep the car
That old rav sounds like bottom end mate, sounds really rough, age of car doesn't matter for starting I've had really old cars that are first click, bit of a they all do that sir comment bud!
The primitive little Mitsubishi should be perfect for the old grumpy person who is always complaining about complicated technology that only goes wrong.
Found the last segment very rushed and unprepared you said £6995 so many times I couldn't tell what you were on about or what car you were talking about even though I listened 3 times. Please listen back I'm sure you will understand. If that was my first Chops video I wouldn't tune in again. Just saying this to help you 😉.
@@ChopsGarage Maybe an improvement, but I'm not convinced its a healthy engine. But trading it out cheaply won't be your problem. Hope you didn't pay much above scrap value for it!
@@ChopsGarage see mate oil additives are good, I've been known to use up to 4 in noisy engines, it think I'd use 6 in that rav tho, hope you knocked them well down on it, I'd have told them engine was goosed and not worth a great deal.

RAv4 sounds like a common fault with the injectors on Toyotas with wear internally
Are those lights on the Up! From a Skoda Citigo or Seat Mii?
No they all have different lights
@@jontallon73 that's what I thought. I had an Up! And the lights were not anything like those ones
The thing about happy customers is that they often return for the next car !
You would be surprised how many people (I'm one of them ) who don't want a car to be perfect, and don't mind the odd scratch provided the price is dropped a bit instead
Agreed
As a viewer from the United States I am frankly amazed that UK used car dealers have to provide so much coverage on older high mileage vehicles.
In the US used vehicles are sold "AS IS" unless they are covered by remaining factory warranty or a aftermarket warranty purchased separately.
Most after market warranties wouldn't cover vehicles the age and mileage you deal with either.
A lot can happen to a vehicle in six months and the dealer is screwed.
Exactly! Your system seems far more sensible!
Crikey even the sandero access had stalk to adjust mirrors, no factory fit radio though.
No radio, mad someone still makes something that simple
@@ChopsGarage sadly no more. The days of the loss leader £5995 headline price that few bought are long gone. Dacia gone way of Skoda while I love my £2k from small dealer 63 plate 2 1/2 years ago, even I have to advise unless you love basic no elec windows central locking etc paying more for some goodies will make it easier to sell and get most or all back when you do- or be minimal cost over time if keep till scrap. Got to realise when you are not normal. 😂 buying second hand you get someone else’s choice of radio
Good evening James 🙏🙏
I guess I missed something but if not how is 60/40 split of £500 = £400 / £100
My thoughts too!
I removed the VAT that I would reclaim, then split it
The boot lid of the blue fiesta looks the same colour as the bumper but different to the rest of the car 🧐
Yep can spot it a mile away
Up! Headlights from a facelift
James, you don't have the best track record with Fiestas 😉
Tell Moor's if they want it to go mouldy and get sold sometime in November they're in luck! 😂
lol
Doug DeMuro did a video a few years ago that's worth a watch... 'Mirage is the worst new car you can buy'
Absolutely horrible car.
the race guy should have upped his contribution in recognition of moors honesty and your general attitude....
It was all good , very nice chap
cool
Wow that rav 4 sounds rough
Try using an Ozone generator to get rid of stink
Just bought one
at least the mitsubishi has electric windows
Flog the wrong VW headlamps on ebay - get £100 for quick sale? I would get the bumpers on the Fiesta fixed by your dent guy - faults stand out too much if you want a quick sale? Fair price on the Rav4 as is but it would look so much better with the headlamps and door polished - with the tyres it's probably going to be assured cheap motoring for some years.
Nice to put a face to the name mike ..
You want to watch Jason bud at TK, he went to great lengths to explain why he offers f**k all for his p exs, 100 quid on a c3, 150 on a 08 focus, he's a hard man, bet customers love him, but it's a tactic to use.
Saw it mate
@@ChopsGarage I left a comment about how you can get at least 300 from these Internet scrap people, so 100 quid is a bit unfair, he wasn't very complementary!!
Rob and Chris are on with a Peugeot with the same engine as your ds mate, they can't find a used unit so are going to rebuild the existing one, hope you'll not be in that position, might be James and Chris!
Ill be sat with Rob have a brew while Chris does it lol
@@ChopsGarage saying its been an engine too long
Please stop slagging off Jags! They are no less unreliable than any other car but, as you say, they are a joy to drive!
Have I been slagging them off? I agree my point is all old prestige cars are risk
Proper poverty spec Mitsi dude 🤣
Good round up 👌
Thanks 😅
And the Mitsubishi Mirage sucks balls , they should never have replaced the Colt but they did it to cut costs i reckon as the old Colt was a much better drivers car
I really don't think the customer should of paid anything as the cat must of been faulty on the point of Collection
Defo top end mate. You will see in next vid
@@ChopsGarage I can't tell the bottom from the top (hollies that mate) I'd change oil and put 3 whyns in it to quiet it,
James, PLEASE for God's sake keep the extension lead away from water. You're always doing it, 💧and ⚡️really aren't a good mix!
will do
The primitive little Mitsubishi should be perfect for the old grumpy person who is always complaining about complicated technology that only goes wrong.
lol true
Found the last segment very rushed and unprepared you said £6995 so many times I couldn't tell what you were on about or what car you were talking about even though I listened 3 times. Please listen back I'm sure you will understand. If that was my first Chops video I wouldn't tune in again. Just saying this to help you 😉.
I did watch it back but decided to leave it in
That Rav sounds kippered, its had a hard life and not many services by the sounds of it... Sounds like it's got a bit of chain slap/rattle
Yes mate it sounds knackered, sounds cranky to me, hope he didn't allow too much, typical p ex.
I have been driving it about last few days. Defo sounds top end. No smoke , loads of power and got quieter with valve lifter additive
Think so too bud.
My god who would actually buy that Mirage brand new lol 😂
Someone in grey socks and sandals Id say
@@ChopsGarage Ha! 😅
😎👍👍
Evening
VW are a bloody pain with their body bits. They seem to small parts every week
The Mitsubishi is base as f**k.
The mirage are a death trap they sell them here in the states total shit box
To be fair Aygo and C1 are as tinny
Mirarge and colts are very basic and dull cars, there whole purpose is to get you from a to b for as little as possible
Well with £0 road tax, 60mpg I guess this hits the mark there
Shame those jaguar's are unreliable, well they are british, I mean what do the british make that are reliable? Notning
That RAV engine sounds awful
Qashqai How much £6695 or £6995 get you figures right 🙄🙄😂😂😂😂😂
Did not sell Rav4 for anywhere near that
Its a vauxhall jees
