    Objective and Honest review!
    Very good point that we no need to buy the latest and more expensive NVMe, simply because we cannot hit its max speed because of the thunderbolt 40gbps limit of the transfer speed.
    Get one generation older drive with more storage space instead the latest one, and the speed will be the same.

    Same experience with the cheaper enclosures. I'm planning on using a 4TB P3 Plus Crucial.on my M2 Air with this case. Thanks for video, I'm doing exacting same thing for RUclips creations.

      Works well from other comments I've had - I'll be upgrading to it in the future when I need to.

      @@IanWootten the P3 4TB runs in Blackmagic Drive test at around 2500Gb/s approx read and write, exactly what I was after. BTW you channel has quite a lot of interesting GPT stuff.

    Funny I landed here in search of the "Delock USB4 40 Gbps Enclosure" they use the same aluminum enclosure.
    I found it odd why the enclosure was so large while the inside board has room left on both sides, now I get it brands are using the same enclosure with their logo on it.

    I have 2 with my Mac Studio Ultra 48 core and 64 Gb RAM and they use Samsung 980 PRO 2Tb and 990 PRO 2 Tb. They each get 2800 I also have 2 of the OWC 4M2 Express and love them too.

      Best enclosure out there for Macs right now!

    Thank you for sharing this. Did you format your SSD to APFS? I also checked the Acasis website, but they don't recommend Crucial. However, with this video, I'm considering that SSD due to the price constraints

    • @IanWootten
      @IanWootten  Год назад +1

      Yes, formatted to APFS. Doesn't look like Acasis have even tried using them from the charts given.

    I recently installed a Crucial P3 4TB M.2 PCIe Gen3 NVMe on my M2 Mac Book Pro. However, I have noticed that the drive gets excessively hot during file transfer processes. I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience with a 4TB drive. Thank you.

    great product BUT I bought 2 of theses, and they both wont work at the same time.
    I guess the mac gets upset with the same intel chip on both enclosures, and ignores one of my data drives.
    tried plugging into front, rear, or hub TB ports, none reliably work. could be exceeding the ext power delivery for all I know.
    So I am stuck with one acasis data drive, first world problems!

      Weird, I've heard examples of of people using multiple of these with no issue. What drives are you using inside?

    Thanks very much for the review, do you happen to know whether this enclosure would be compatible with a crucial p3 plus 4tb nvme? Connected to a Mac studio...

    • @IanWootten
      @IanWootten  Год назад +1

      Don't see any reason why not. I have the P5 Plus in it myself and it works great. Been thinking of getting the 4TB and since the transfer rates of USB4 can't get to the top speed of the drive so I may as well replace with the cheaper P3 one.

    • @jimlad01
      @jimlad01 Год назад +1

      @@IanWootten That was my reasoning also. The 4tb P3 is available in a faster 'plus' version, however if the speed is limited might as well get the standard version as there would be no difference in performance...unless I'm missing something?

    • @IanWootten
      @IanWootten  Год назад

      Nope, you're not. The only reason to get something faster might be if you were to reuse it elsewhere at a later date.

    Did you purchase the SSD with the heat sink with the heat sink on the SSD still fit into your external hard drive case? Thank you.

    • @IanWootten
      @IanWootten  Год назад

      The ssd doesn't have a heatsink so fits fine into the case.

    • @sreedharangopalsamy6323
      @sreedharangopalsamy6323 Год назад

      As I understand it, you should get the SSD without the heat sink as with heat sink it may be too “thick” and the enclosure may not close properly. The Acasis comes with “heat sink pads” that you stick on.

    Does it get hot even when idleling? I have bought the acasis with the crucial P3 Plus 4T.

    • @IanWootten
      @IanWootten  Год назад

      No, not at all. It's sat here connected doing nothing and barely feels warm. The 4TB will be a great combo with this.

      @@emilyray614 There is no problem with the inclosure. I'm on a MacBook and everything is running perfectly. Well almost. When I tried to copy 6 980 files from the Finder, it started and frozed after a few minutes. I had to restart the laptop. Instead, I used Sync Files Pro. It went thru without any glitch. I get 2272 mb/s write and 2159 mb/s read. :))
