Hi Janne. The events in this movie happens at 1974/75 era when Turkey intervened Cyprus problem. Rıfat - the son of the mayor - died there. After getting the terrible new, the mother burries the TV in a grave because the bodies of KIA soldiers were burried in Cyprus or nearby mainland graves. She just wants something to burry and has a grave. You'll see this this detail in the next movie.
It is not a village where these all happening, but most probably a town - a city may be. Towns or even cities looked like that in eastern and some western parts of Turkey in that era. Caharcters are drawn very precise. The mayor - the person everybody loves and respects but has autority issues with his own family. The going-bold-guy, a classic low class government worker; the equip who brought TV to the town from Ankara - very calssic government staff from central government institutions. The mother "Siti" is also a classic character with open mind but no education and strong religous believes.
In the end of the movie everything gets twisted. The mayor starts to drink, his drunk son goes to a mosque and refuges to god. Rıfat's girl friend is married to son of Cinema owner - do you remember he allways asks his father "dad.. what about the thing I asked you, any progress?" and he allways said "I tell you to wait, I'll handle it, it is on me, be patient.." and you wonder what it could be he is asking to his dad for all movie long and in the end we see what really it is - the wedding...
This movie is a cult movie as you mentioned, it will never be forgotten - there are a few more movies like this - became cult and in my opinion 2 more of these cult movies belong to Yılmaz Erdoğan. I advise you to watch the next movie "Vizontele Tuuba" and "Ekşi Elmalar - The Sour Apples", both movies the tell the same era and are good movies, specially the sour apples would tell you a lot of things about Turkey and it's past.
I apologise for this awfully long comment and I appreciate how you watch and react movies objectively - keep doing it :)
This was awesome, thanks 🙏🏻 I was like: Yaaa when I read about the characters and cinema owners son’s question. So many details it’s hard to get all in one look. 😊

This movie is the first blockbuster turkish movie of the modern era. After late 80s to 2001 there are really tiny Turkish movies were released a year. And those movies were low-budget movies. But after this movie's effect on Turkish people, Turkish cinema got really bigger in every year.
Thanks you for the comment 🙏🏻
Eşkiya(1996) was the first Turkish blockbuster movie i had seen in my life back when i was a kid. But for the 2000's Vİzontele was probably the first one.
@@Geckotr Eşkıya was so popular yes but it was not really a blockbuster, i think.
Still a joke here in Turkey "Will he see us too?" lol. Happy that you like the movie.
That was a good question 😀 I can imagine how exciting it must have been at the time when TV’s came.
Technology is always difficult to get used to 😂 When something new came everyone be like "Whaaat? They did this too??? " 😂😂
It's like radio, but with pictures. 😊
The old, _suit-n-tie-till-I-die_ dude uptight and conversing with the news reporter on his own though.. 😆 brilliant critic on the perception and relationship of the people with the remote representation of the central government. Though it may seem cartoonish, it is factually right, indeed. Especially for the lower-social-capital members of the generation which witnessed the foundation of the Republic during their early adulthood. To them, the central government is a legend, a myth, almost god-like. Not so easy to understand for us milennials though, eh? :)

Mr. Janne
You should watch this movie👍🏻
Your face is smiling, good movie and good reaction, our faces are smiling.thanks.
I’m happy you liked it !! And the movie was very lovely ☺️
I didn't pay attention to your hair because your gestures and face are so beautiful. Thank you for your reaction to Turkish movies.🙏🏻💙
There is nice reaction video again :) Your thoughts, reaction of your face or emotions was priceless. Everyone recomended another movie, music or something like that but I’m gonna recomended something different and even more emotional (at least for us). Speech of the 10’th year by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
Thank you for this comment and also the recommendation 🙏
Thanks bro for that great job actually thanks for that you chose Vizontele. The movie contains lots of contrasts in it, let say that's style of Yılmaz Erdoğan. Era of 70s is trully revealed. It totally deserves to be cult movie in the Turkish cinema.
7:40 Ahahah, My dad too. He is works in an international tourism company. When somebody call him, He is like: "HELLO, HOW ARE YOU, YES I AM MEHMET, COME TO MY OFFICE YES YES WE HAVE BUS, WHAT DID YOU SAY, I DIDNT HEAR YOU" My mother often get angry him
Hahaha 🤣

Okay
Excellent analysis and great read, this movie was really great. Thank you so much. Vizontele
Thank You 🙏🏻 sometimes it would be nice to go really deep into scenes and details but then again the video would take too long.
This video was longer than usual - i try to give an overall reaction of the entire movie in 5-10minutes and quickly share some comments 😊
Hello Janne! The song at 3:54 is called "Aydın Aydın - Zap Suyu". "Zap Suyu (Zap Stream)" is a natural water stream which connects to the Tigris River in Mesopotamia. Some of the lyrics from the song are like this:
Zap Suyu derindir geçit vermiyor (Zap Stream is deep and non passable)
Çağladıkça dağı taşı deliyor (Pierces through the mountains as it ripples)
Aldığı canı da geri vermiyor (Doesn't give back the life it takes)
There is also an another approach to the "Zap Stream" from the Turkish Armed Forces. During the ongoing conflicts between the Turkish Armed Forces and PKK (Kurdistan Workers Party) - which is recognized as a terrorist organization by the UN - Turkish Commandos march with a poem called "Zap Stream" to keep the moral high amongst the soldiers.
And I want to clear another confusion at 5:07 . The mother "Siti" says "Don't forget wear your underpants." to his son "Nafiz". It's because that the night before at 4:47 when Nafiz and his wife were making love to each other their voices were heard by Siti. That's why in the next morning Siti says "Don't forget to wear your underpants.". It's kind of a warning to them for being quiet next time when they make love.
Love your videos. Keep up the great work! Much love from Turkey!
You can watch "Vizontele Tuuba" too. This is second movie 💙
I like to watch your reaction videos cause of your sincerity and expression of your face during emotional alterations 🤓take care 😀

Bro "Pentagram - Lions in a cage" turkish rock band. In the Ottoman Empire, sultans killed their brothers for the thron
Sultan Ahmet established the cage system in 1603 to prevent killing of brothers.
so house arrest..
they got all kinds of education here
The sultans who were in cage were forbidden to marry and have children
When the throne sultan died, his brother in the cage would replace him
3rd longest osman in the cage
He entered a cage in 1703 and became a sultan in 1754.
a song about it
That was crazy! REACT ''Bir Başkadır TV SERIES''.
Thanks 🤩 I wish I had time to do that Fatih.
I dont think he'd like that. The series does a great job at representing the social dilemmas we are having. It wonderfully tells us of us. But other than that, it's not that interesting for others. If Janne wants to learn more of our present, he may watch it, but if not I think other series would be more interesting
Beğendim börü filmini izlemeni ve yorumlamanı merakla bekliyorum 💚💚💚

One of the best movies of Turkish cinema
I am so happy you watched and reacted to ths movie. It's an all time classic and a cult moive as you mentioned. It's set as a comedy movie although it has a sad twist in the end but it tells a much bigger story. Everyone around the world would like this movie and relate to it in certain levels if they watch it.

I’ve got an idea which is thats make you surprised I guess. We have a very delightful anthem like a “Imperial March” from the Star wars movie. Which is name of "Ottoman Empire Imperial anthem Mecidiye Marşı". Some of the geeks/nerds thoughts the writer of the Imperial march was inspired of that anthem
Sounds interesting. I think I will react to something short again and then again a movie. 😌

Wierd avant-garde Turkish movie-Sen Aydınlatırsın Geceyi :)
Let me tell you one more detail about the movie. In them mayor's family, the oldest son is a drunk man who does not care about his family or does not have a job. He lives like a homeless guy with no responsibilities. The other son is carefree as well. He only cares for women and having fun. The one who is called for military duty, the one who dies in a war, is actually the responsible one, the one who respects familiy and society related values. But he dies. Similar tragedies happened in Turkey. Usually it is the child who is loved by everyone, the child who respects everyone, the child who is most responsible who dies for any random reason. My nephew, who had all the good qualities I mentioned, died at the age of 13 while working in the wheat field. A very tragic death, I cannot describe. My sister changed for good after her son's death. Her other children are careless and do no really have respect for family values. But her late son was the perfect person. Very sad.
I really admire what you are doing, watching movies that are not local or hollywood. I want to begin something like that. May I ask you to suggest and give a review to your favorite Finnish movies? It would be an interesting video series too. Keep up the good work
Thank you for the comment. I definitely know more about Turkish cinema than Finnish cinema now. I can recommend you two movies, one comedy and one war. The Reunion (2015) and the Unknown Soldier (2017)
@@JanneNordman I didnt watch Nefes, nor I know lots about it. But I will certainly look these two movies if I have the time.

The thing about the "sad marriage", I didn't hear it for a long time but, used to if a family has a alcoholic-gambler-punk-pervert (or all together) sun. They force him to merry, bc they believe when he has a wife and child he ll grow up and take responsibility. But far as I know, that's never happened.
That’s what I guessed too

Okay, I might watch it someday 😊
Did you recognize the actor Tolga Çevik? You’ve seen him in Organize İşler as the Superman :)
It’s quiet a turn since in that movie he was playing a character with a proper İstanbul Turkish and was a pitiable yet so kind and polite man who didn’t know what to do with his life anymore and was ready to end it. Basically as a broken gentleman.
But in here he plays as a more close-minded person who doesn’t think about his actions or the life itself, with a broken Turkish, an immature personality and not polite whatsoever.
You probably noticed the actor but the big difference between the characters and how differently Tolga played them amezes me so I just wanted to point it out. I’m glad you liked the movie.
Yes i noticed that 😊 thanks for writing all this 🙏🏻
