The London government should be paying this man for advertising their city so well. Every time I see a Joolz Guides video I feel that itch to visit London again.
Watching your channel is like an adventure into the world of funny characters and hilarious situations. Keep making us happy with your funny videos!🍨☯️🫵
Joolz, I love your video's. They remind me of the "good old days". I no longer live in London, so it is a treat to see some of the parts of London that I saw last in 1975. Thanks for all the work you do much appreciated!
Wonderful episode Julian & Simon. I lived in Queens Park on Chevening Road in my first flat when I moved to London (from Australia) in 1997. Very happy and fond memories of that area. I absolutely love that park, it's where I saw my first ever squirrel.... 🥰
Those pies look absolutely delish!😋🤗 What a lovely area! It's so fascinating how so many London areas manage to keep a look and feel of a largish village even in in one of the most modern cities in the world! I really look forward to your offerings!😁👍
Wonderful vid thanks Joolz. I particularly like it when you insert an old map or photo and give us the "then & now" comparison. Adds a lot, more of this please!
Watching these videos is my favorite way to spend a Sunday morning. Especially since I just got back from enjoying a week in London and a week in St. Albans. I'd move to London in a minute if I could afford it. Thank you, Joolz.
Excellent video again Sir, that Isambard Kingdom Brunel grave blew my mind, growing up in Wiltshire we were educated on Brunel and his great achievements, I expected a massive tomb and statue due to all his achievements but there he is in a modest grave, its things like this why your channel is one of the best 👌
I’ve never been to Kensal Green, but was curious about it after reading Middlesex by John Betjeman where he talks about Perivale and Greenford being full of hayfields and mayfields in the old days, and “cockney singers, cockney shooters, Murray Poshes, Lupin Pooters, long in Kensal Green and Highfield silent under soot and stone.” So thank you so much🥰
Many years ago my brother and I visited Kensal Green Cemetery. We didn’t go to visit any particular grave, the reason we went was because it was in the book Dangerous Davies by Leslie Thomas that my brother read.
Thanks Joolz for reviving 50 years of memories. I grew up in Kensal Rise, Buller Road actually. My American wife and I left the UK in '72 after moving to Watford for 4 years. Apart from the stores not much else seems to have changed. Most of it is still as I remember it. The beer is on me. :)
Both my Mums Parents and my Dads parents are laid to rest at Kensal Green Cemetery. I remember my Nan died just before Freddie Mercury and their funerals were at the same crematorium. Wasnt there St Marys Hospital along Harrow Road? Im sure thats what my parents told me. And my Dad, Brother and Nephews are all QPR !! HOOPS! 😅
Joolz, I would have been really impressed if you could have used your influence to have the Queens Park Church sound their new bells so your loyal followers could enjoy.
Regarding the school mentioned 2m 30s into the video: This used to be Kilburn Grammar School from 1898 to 1973. Many notable alumni including Richard Baker the newsreader and Nobel prize winner, Ronald Coase.
l lovely programme. fantastic show. South African being part of Colonialism also had bandstands. i remember we used to have those red postboxes in johannesburg when i was small. wealso have a Harrow rd in jhb
Just seeing this now after the notification. I'm so glad to see you outside and about the green London trees. From what I can see in others comments this wasn't filmed recently I guess but that's okay. You are one of the best and most engaging guides I've ever seen. Also glad to hear the wonderful Tom Carradine singing again. Thank you to Joolz, Simon, Lou, etc for showing us all these parts of London. You are a treasure.
A minor correction.. that 'paradise' bar was the 'old plough'. The plough stood at the junction of Ladbroke Grove - diametrically opposite the church. A pub had stood on the spot for 300 years before it was destroyed to widen the road for lorries going to and from Sainsbury's. This far in to the video you haven't mentioned Droop Street
Aw i lived here for the longest time and only just had to move out a few months ago (landlady got greedy and upped the rent 500 quid a month!). But its the only place ive ever lived in where i knew all my neighbours and everyone who owned the local shops 🥰 I was good friends with Behrouz from Gallery A2. Its a fantastic little treasure trove, i have many of his crystals. Im so happy to see him in one of your videos 💕
22:30 about the grade 2 listed horse trough- mid 19th century example. a developer is wanting to build 5 story flats on that bit of land and is wanting to uproot and move the horse trough closer to the pub, however so far they have not been successful and that plan was withdrawn recently. the masons arms pub closed abruptly around easter time 2024.
So interesting! Thank you so much... Everything was interesting for me... And the MĒS Pies looked outstanding, indeed. But the Cemetery holds so many life stories....
Wondrous. My only complaint is that you went to Kensal Green Cemetery without stopping to visit Anthony Trollope. Isambard Kingdom Brunel is all well and good but who reads any of Brunel's novels today?
Great interesting and informative video as usual. Quite a few of my relatives were born in Droop Street (before moving west to Hillingdon at start of WW2) and some now reside in Kendal Green Cemetery. So lovely to see what it all looks like as never been there. Thanks very much.
Chicken roasting, potatoes peeled and in cold water, time for a glass of wine and Joolz. Lovely!! Edited to ask, where are your sleeve garters man!? Honestly, I'm a tad disappointed that such a dapper man forget to have sleeve garters when taking off his jacket!!! Consider yourself well and truly told off!!
Great video as always. I can tell you as a stonemason that those decorated triangles would be known as pediments on stone buildings so I guess they'd have the same name on those houses. Thanks and cheerio 🙂
Simón did you mean to say “underground station” when talking about the makers of gravestones 🤣or was part of your normal humour 👏👏 enjoyable video as always Joolz. Cheers 🍷
Love Queens Park. Lonsdale Rd is worth checking out & has become a hot foodie spot. Also love Paddington Cemetery just unsure why it’s called Paddington cemetery when it’s not in Paddington.
10:52 Rev. Arthur Gore Pemberton had 15 children. Of son Augustus, his 1893 obituary read "It is with deep regret that we have to record the death of Mr. A. C. Pemberton, [... who] was a man of whom the inhabitants of Kilburn, Queen's Park and Kensal Green should be particularly grateful, for it is not too much to say that it was almost entirely due to his efforts that the Queen's Park was secured as a recreation ground for them."
Cheers Joolz, it’s Sean in Atlanta! Thanks for taking me on a trip to a part of London that I would most likely never visit! And I have to tell you that if I could grow a beard like yours, I would wear one all the time! It makes you look like a manly man! Hahaha! And the music is always entertaining! If I’m not mistaken, that’s your buddy who owns the pub, right? I’m guessing this may have been filmed in a different season than now. I think you all are being hit by Bert and Ernie, or some weird winter storm name like that! Thank you once again for an entertaining video and now I won’t have to figure out how to get to Kensal… Sean
Great channel. Top work. Thank you for recognising the importance of the area in the formation of Queens Park Ranges QPR. A much under appreciated, much under recognised Football club in these days of hedonistic, diluted, brand focused sports media. Respect. COYRRRRRSSSSSS.
The London government should be paying this man for advertising their city so well. Every time I see a Joolz Guides video I feel that itch to visit London again.
I feel exactly the same but they spent it all on cycle lanes
@@Joolzguides 😂😂😂
@@Joolzguides well, I'm sorry to say Jules, but as a man of Dutch stock I cannot oppose that decision. :')
YESXCALMEEEEEE OLDBOYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
On this extremely windy Storm Bert Sunday, it is lovely to spend time inside being guided around London by Joolz and co!
Congratulations to the young married couple🥂🍾

Joolz, Simon : Thank you for another fascinating London adventure - Perfect rainy Sunday viewing. Love it.
Sunday morning, cup of coffee and a new Joolz Guide. Splendid 🧐
"Well, that's enough of eating pies and drinking champagne. Time for a break, let's hit the pub." Oh to live the life of Joolzy.
Joolz, I love your video's. They remind me of the "good old days". I no longer live in London, so it is a treat to see some of the parts of London that I saw last in 1975. Thanks for all the work you do much appreciated!

I didn't realise how many famous people were buried in Kensal Cemetery - Brunel wow.
Magnificent exploration as usual.
The pie, mash and gravy looked amazing...
Wonderful episode Julian & Simon. I lived in Queens Park on Chevening Road in my first flat when I moved to London (from Australia) in 1997. Very happy and fond memories of that area. I absolutely love that park, it's where I saw my first ever squirrel.... 🥰
Another fantastic video, Joolz!
(And another thing, your background musician has an incredible voice!)
Your videos always bring so much laughter and good cheer! Thank you for your talented and quality work!🏸🤹🐱

Thanks for the walk. I devour your videos.
Thanks Joolz, you made my day, again.
Amazing. Went to Salusbury school on salusbury road many years ago now. Lovely area
To say I'm a little confused by your wandering around in shirt sleeves in November is an understatement. 😂
Me too. I filmed it in the summer and had to return for extra bits in the same outfit now it’s freezing!
Tallyho Joolz and Simon. Great informative and fun video as usual. Thanks for the joy 👌🌟✨
Our pleasure!
Wonderful vid thanks Joolz. I particularly like it when you insert an old map or photo and give us the "then & now" comparison. Adds a lot, more of this please!
The last time I heard a reference to people being brown bread, was in an episode of Minder. 🤣
Wow, nearly 300k now!
Been waiting till 11 my Sunday is complete thanks joolz
Thanks Joolz for this brief history lesson.
If I wasn't stuck here in America, I would follow you all around London like a puppy dog. Absolutely love your informative walks.
You are so kind… but I might have to have you arrested!😅
Luv The Jam 🔥

Nice to see you as usual, Joolz. Look forward to watching this later today.
Love your book. How about one that lists all of the great eateries featured in your walks, such as the pie shop?
Great idea! I’ll see what they say

I have to say the music is a good fit for the mood, pace and ambiance of a Joolz Tour. Pip-pip cheerio!

I love all the history you talk about in your videos. Keep up the great work and stay safe out there.
Thanks Joolz, another great video. My Sunday is always awesome when it starts out with the latest Joolz Guides

Love it as always!
Have you ever done a history pub crawl with Simon? I'd love to watch that video. Always thrilled to see a new Joolz upload. 💜
I was in Kensal Green Cemetery last summer and found Owen Jones, author of The Grammar of Ornament.

Good point. I don’t usually go around like that!
Nice video!
This is where my parents grew up near Ilbert st 2 streets apart
There are still quite a few bandstands left in seafront locations. Rarely get used anymore though.
"Outstanding in his field" is awarded to the scarecrow. QPR supporter as well!. Triangular part of roof is a gable.

The blatant neglect of Kensal Green cemetery is a scandal.

Thanks for another great walk, Joolz. Hello to Little Lost Lou, I believe I heard your voice.
Yes it was there.. just a whimper

OH thank goodness. I thought from the thumbnail that this would just be another of those numerous morbid cemetery tour videos. Oh, wait....
while time is on mine 😀
i have buy your book very good reading

they should put a blue plate in salusbury road because i've lived there 25 years ago
Those pies looked very tasty. You’d go back for more every day, if that was local.
Great channel. Top work. Thank you for recognising the importance of the area in the formation of Queens Park Ranges QPR. A much under appreciated, much under recognised Football club in these days of hedonistic, diluted, brand focused sports media.
