It's awesome to see y'all deal with adversities and still be kind and supportive of each other, seems like a simple and no brainer but not that many couples deal with thier problems so well. Keep the good times coming.
My girlfriend and I drove up to St. Augustine from palm beach county for our 2 year anniversary last year! Easily my favorite city in all of Florida! So much interesting history
Great job getting the trans fixed. I am a test engineer at the submarine base you will pass up next to Cumberland Island. I gotta say it does my heart good to see a young man fixing his own equipment. So the next really tricky shallow area is Sisters creek just off the St Johns River in Jacksonville. Did some bump and run with a Morgan out island years ago. The channel markers are not intuitive at all, so watch your chart close. Having a blast checking on you guys. Julie loves Jetty.
Nice work on replacing the transmission. I can't imaging how much of a pain in the ass it was but it is cool to see you learning and building your knowledge of your boat. Safe travels and thanks for documenting this effort.
It is awesome you two are living "off-grid" and free. This is what freedom is about. Your boat is vintage and with character, awesome. Do you sometimes fish for dinner? Keep boating & livin' free.
Thanks for the vid on getting the transmission fixed. Unreal how long that took, but you stayed the course and are a lot smarter in transmission repairs. IDN how Sierra was so patient, but she is fantastic to always be positive and smiling. Best wishes.
I'm so happy you got that transmission issue behind you. Nothing worse than mechanical breakdowns in an unfamiliar area. I too was a bit nervous just prior to you putting Neverland into gear! Enjoy each and every stop along your journey North. BTW, Jetty truly is a wonderful companion!
Way to persevere and solve the transmission problems guys! I love the boat maintenance/restoration videos--those are very cool! It may be boring to some folks, but it's awesome to see how you've restored your two boats. Restoration is a dying art, and I'm glad to see you guys embracing it. Great that you're back underway up north. Safe travels!
So glad to hear that you got another working transmission! I am sure it may have been said before, but at some point, have your original transmission repaired and carry it on board with you as a spare just in case this new one ever breaks down. You can never have too many spare parts when at sea
I'm a mechanic and I know how frustrating things can be especially when they go wrong or don't work the first time. It's just the way it goes, but you did a great job and really persevered with great patience. Way to go man! Also your damn videos are ruining any chance of going to bed early enough lol.
Very cool to see that old gray tugboat up on the barge. We saw it on our way down to Florida 2 years ago.. Hopefully it'll be restored...Maybe we'll catch up to you guys on Long Island this year. Safe travels.
I applaud your persistence and can do attitude...tackling a transmission like that with no previous knowledge is a terrifying prospect and you jumped right in. Love this vlog and ya'lls lifestyle and choices. Keep up the excellent attitude and work. Look forward to more clear blue water and reef snorkeling adventures from you!
Congratulations! Some HUGE adventures go zero miles at zero mi/hr. You said in the first video of the series that "you were not a mechanic", you are now! Good to stubbornly stick with it and question, now your confidence and knowledge is greater.
Just to mention, I visited the Fountain of Youth about 2002 and consumed a double dose of water. And I must add that it works perfectly at keeping your youth as long as you believe it is working.
Welcome to St Aug! I was born and raised here and it is amazing! Best place on earth and first establishment in North American! Im so glad yall got to visit and enjoyed your time. Happy sailing!
good to see you two back out on the water...glad to see the local boating community pitch in and help. i watch several sailing vlogs but you two operating on a budget on a old trawler is more enjoyable than people buying a million dollar cat and doing fluff pieces ...enjoy these times kids
Its great to see you three back on the move again. Sorry that all your hard work was pretty much for nothing with the problem being outside the transmission. Chalk it up to experience and keep moving forward. Thanks for doing the videos by the way, its like I'm on vacation with you every time I watch a new one!
You forgot to mention another way viewers can help your channel: they can feature Tula's Endless Summer on their channel to let their viewers know about you. I just did. Thanks for making and sharing. You two are doing what a lot of people would like to do, thanks for taking us along.
Wow what an adventure. You guys really managed the stress on camera so well. When you put it in gear the relief on your face was fantastic to see. I am so looking forward to this adventure.
Very cool that you were able to fix the transmission issue, I had been waiting to see what was the real problem, don't run into more sand bars! Your video of moving along the canal system is great, it will help many of us when we do it!
Been having some boat issues myself lately and it sure is a rewarding feeling when you get it all fixed and back together lol. I have been watching a lot of your videos and I wish both of you guys the very best!
glad you got it going congratulations . im recovering from spinal burst fractures. your videos inspired me to work on my videos while learning to walk etc. if yall get on the west coast. im in crystal river you have a great place to anchor in kings bay. ive been sharing your videos with all my capt friends. hope it helps with views keep up the fun life. i hope to get back too it myself soon as im healed. thanks again 94 days in bed.for a captain seems like a year.your videos kept me sane.
Born & raised in St. Augustine area, great place to boat but very shallow & narrow going north thru North Florida ICW. Eyes to the west for afternoon thunder storms.
You past thru my home town in Flagler County. We boat and fish the ICW and Matanzas inlet. You are correct the shallows are crazy and you have to pay attention. Love the vlog.
Hey guys! I am huge boater here in the Midwest and accidentally ran into one of your videos. I was hooked and subscribed. Keep up the awesome vids as you are living my dream. Stay safe and keep on boarding :)
Glad to see you guys back in action again! Really enjoying your videos. We have a 1973 motor boat as well. And, we converted from sail, too. Not many great powerboat cruiser blogs Round. Glad you guys have one.
Enjoy your TRIP! Looks like a GREAT TIME! Look on the Transmission Fiasco as a learning experience in perseverance and knowing what all to check when diagnosing a problem. ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!
one thing you need to do to that old engine has run the overhead on it its time and has a valve lash adjustment I can hear it, it'll make the engine quieter and run better with better mileage.
Yes, it is very simple (I have two Ford Lehman's in my Trawler). Call American Diesel Corp at 804-435-3107 and they will send you instruction and specs for the adjustment. They are the premiere Ford Lehman experts in the country and will provide as much phone support as you need.. Valve adjustments are critical for longevity on the Ford Lehman's.
Thanks for including what actually was the cause of the failure. Now I know what to look for and how to diagnose better. Sorry it took you soooo long to find out.
Billy, thanks for going into some detail on the transmission! I'm considering a boat with a Lehman engine and similar transmission, so I'm following your travels for that reason.....The first reason I follow is, i just flat out enjoy your vlog man! Safe travels and keep sharing!
so awesome ! I felt super excited to see it finally work out. and thanks for the technical info not being left out of the video I am one who does care about that and thats how we technical dudes who work on our own stuff learn just a little bit more. sharing info is golden.
So glad to see you, up and running. The definition in your muscles while lifting the tranny, WOW! You and Sierra are true athletes and it is so inspiring to see you both in action. You are so lucky to be able to see Dolphins all the time and all of the other marine life that most of us don't see unless we go to an aquarium. We don't have Roseate Spoonbills in Palm Beach co. I definitely need to get out more. Thanks for sharing. Jetty is so well behaved. What a perfect addition to your family. Be safe!
If you have to repack the stuffing box, think about getting one of the drip-less stuffing boxes. May require some modification to your hull fitting but they seem to be almost install once and (almost) forget about it. I check mine daily but a lot of people do not look into them until the new season.
Good job, I would of gave up and hired a marine mechanic, so now you have a spare transmission that is worth rebuilding, just be careful, shoal draft all the way to Jacksonville, unless your going blue water, safe travels.
Be careful in the ICW above Charleston. Have seen lots of boats stuck in the shoals between Isle of Palms, Capers, and Dewees Islands. Also understand its not great in places above that towards the NC border. Lack of maintenance is killing it. Need help when you get this way holler!
It is a small world lol im watching your video trying to get educated on velvet drive transmissions and you guys pass a big steel ship getting craned out of the water and i realize that you guys had to be on the inlet off of jon anderson in ormand beach! My girlfriend and myself were on one of those docks filming that ship getting lifted out of the water we lived about a 1/4 mile from where that ship was sitting for years! Too cool! You guys are the shit i hope to be living like that soon!
Hey guys! I've been a short time subscriber but I'm enjoying your adventure! Whenever y'all come through Jacksonville Beach make a stop at Safe Harbor Seafood at Beach Marine Marina. It's right in the middle of the Pablo Creek Daybeacon 35 and 34 on the north side of the bridge and on the east side of the ICW. Safe travels!
hey guys I'm a charter capt from NSB FL I just started watching you guys . I here you were stuck n dayrona.. yeah I'm shur you hit the bar infront of disapering island that thing is so bad even for us locals but I was neet to hear you were in my neck of the woods for a week.I wish I would of ran into you guys I would of loved to meet you and take you guys fishing! I love NSB maybe next time... Have fun and be good to you...
First, definitely don't beat yourself up for not twisting both ends at the same time. I'm certain a lot of us would have just checked each end and made sure both sides moved. That said, I'm going to say again it might be something simple like a key. And by "like" I mean that it's quite likely there is a shear pin in one or both of those sets of gears for when something exactly like what happened to you... happens. It's there to save everything else. And yeah, it does sound a _lot_ better. So while you did spend money on a "new" transmission, you also bought confidence that it's going to last for a good while. And give you a chance to do a full rebuild on the old one.
You guys are fantastic. You are giving me hope for some of the younger generation (I am 70 years old). I see so many young people who believe it or not, can not do anything for them selves. Things as easy as painting a bathroom, removing wallpaper from a wall, replacing wood fence slats, etc. i see this lack of independence as leading our country into an entirely socialistic society where everybody relies on government to take care of them. When I was in the Air Force stationed at Tyndall AFB, Panama City, Florida, I bought a 1946 Wooden Chris Craft cruiser. I started rebuilding it. I went on Temporary Duty to Key West and got a call that my boat had sunk at the dock. I also received a new assignment to Shemya Island, in the Aleutian islands that I had to go to within a month. I sold my boat for a dollar (still sitting on the bottom). The guy I sold it to did get it refloating, never did find out why it sunk! I think somebody deliberately filled it with water - there was lots of competition to get dock space at this marina on the Base.
Thanks for the tech on the trans... you're a ballsy guy to take on a trans rebuild! Way to go man, even if it is just parts right now. You guys are the only power boaters I watch. Keep it up -\,,/
It's impressive to see someone so young with so much knowledge and ability, with no fear of digging in and getting the job done.
You should do a vlog on how you guys met. Thumbs up if you agree.
I agree man!
LMAO!!
it's coming it's coming
It's awesome to see y'all deal with adversities and still be kind and supportive of each other, seems like a simple and no brainer but not that many couples deal with thier problems so well. Keep the good times coming.

That tug has been there for years! Some home owners said it was an eye sore but most boaters thought it was cool.
Imagine salvaging that thing and turning it into an Airbnb?!?
@@Tulasendlesssummer I believe it is some type of old navy boat. Some of the locals want it gone. The gentleman that owns it is/was restoring it.
Glad to see you guys back out on the water!!!

Thank god for that, I'm getting stomach ulcers just watching you, ha ha. Cheers good sailing
Wow what an adventure. You guys really managed the stress on camera so well. When you put it in gear the relief on your face was fantastic to see. I am so looking forward to this adventure.

Watching you guys simply makes me happy.

Great persistence. The biggest lesson is to check the simplest things first. Best wishes guys.
You have certainly learned a lot since you got the boat Billy! Good Job.

What a cool life. Please be careful! we grew up in Brunswick just north of St. Augustine. We had kin there and Jacksonville.
Glad to see you're back up and running!
Pretty cute watching you two skate board together to get your trans parts in the previous video.
Born & raised in St. Augustine area, great place to boat but very shallow & narrow going north thru North Florida ICW. Eyes to the west for afternoon thunder storms.
There's no better feeling than success after a struggle. Enjoy the water.
You past thru my home town in Flagler County. We boat and fish the ICW and Matanzas inlet. You are correct the shallows are crazy and you have to pay attention. Love the vlog.
Congrats guys, glad you can get out on the water again!
thumbs up for the rebuilt transmission and jetty's epic slo-mo jump!
adventuresofl I got to your comment at that part. haha nice

Glad to see you were able to fix the transmission on your own! Good job !
Enjoy our town! Lots of fun. Great food too
That dog is awesome.

Lol at Jetty peaking out from the aft berthing! Glad you got your transmission issues sorted.
You guys are an inspiration. Your work ethic, resourcefulness, sense of fun and adventure.
Good Job! Glad to hear you're back on the water. Fair winds and following seas...shipmate.

Glad to see you guys back in action again! Really enjoying your videos. We have a 1973 motor boat as well. And, we converted from sail, too. Not many great powerboat cruiser blogs Round. Glad you guys have one.
those time lapses with squalls in the background are awesome!
Sooo happy for you guys to be moving again. Great vid. Happy to see all of you!!
grats! glad its fixed, me and my bf kept checking in to see if y'all were still stuck.
I found your channel about two weeks ago... Glad Neverland is back up and running.! Awesome videos... Big Hello from Kentucky.!
Nice job on the transmission. You're a better mechanic than you think...
Enjoy your TRIP! Looks like a GREAT TIME! Look on the Transmission Fiasco as a learning experience in perseverance and knowing what all to check when diagnosing a problem. ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!
Glad you both got back on your way. Keep having fun and love seeing places I will probably never have the chance to go to.
Got stuck on your videos a few weeks ago and now i can't wait what's happening next..
one thing you need to do to that old engine has run the overhead on it its time and has a valve lash adjustment I can hear it, it'll make the engine quieter and run better with better mileage.
Make sure the engine is stone cold before adjusting.
Thanks for the advice! Is that simple enough to do ourselves? You just use a feeler gauge correct?
Yes, it is very simple (I have two Ford Lehman's in my Trawler). Call American Diesel Corp at 804-435-3107 and they will send you instruction and specs for the adjustment. They are the premiere Ford Lehman experts in the country and will provide as much phone support as you need.. Valve adjustments are critical for longevity on the Ford Lehman's.
This channel is about to blowwww!!!! Congrats y'all. Much deserved!!!!
We hope so, thanks Ryan!!

glad your running again...cheers
glad to see yall up and going. keep it up. Anastasia park has a blowhole with nice break. Vilano beach is nice as well
Thanks for the heads ups, I wish we had the time to explore but unfortunately we burnt it all with the repair...
Good to see you guys back in action. I heard that lighthouse is haunted!
Best screen shot. SUCCESS!
yay! cool that the trans is fixed. nice to see
It is a small world lol im watching your video trying to get educated on velvet drive transmissions and you guys pass a big steel ship getting craned out of the water and i realize that you guys had to be on the inlet off of jon anderson in ormand beach! hey guys I'm a charter capt from NSB FL
I just started watching you guys .
Disappearing island was cool to hang out on though! Dang, next time we come through!
" BRAVO " you guys " keep on rocking "
Best comment section on RUclips everyone loves you guys
You guys are fantastic. You are giving me hope for some of the younger generation (I am 70 years old). I see so many young people who believe it or not, can not do anything for them selves. Things as easy as painting a bathroom, removing wallpaper from a wall, replacing wood fence slats, etc.
i see this lack of independence as leading our country into an entirely socialistic society where everybody relies on government to take care of them.
Personal I would like to see us moving back towards a pioneer society where Independence and Freedom was appreciated.
When I was in the Air Force stationed at Tyndall AFB, Panama City, Florida, I bought a 1946 Wooden Chris Craft cruiser. I started rebuilding it. I recaulked the bottom, replaced rotten wood, raised the deck to make it a flush deck (it had a big box for the engine before), repainted it and did lots of work on it to restore it.
I love watching your Vlog and living vicariously through you guys. what an amazing adventure.
Thanks again for sharing your travels and adventures with us,
Thanks for the tech on the trans... you're a ballsy guy to take on a trans rebuild! Way to go man, even if it is just parts right now. You guys are the only power boaters I watch. Keep it up -\,,/
Great news to be back on the water awesome....
