I've been taking a photo of myself since the 11th of June 2011. This is a nine years time lapse (June 11th 2011 - June 11th 2020) of 3288 photos showing my face getting hairier and hairier.

Even though I love replying to your comments, I see a lot of questions that are being repeated, so I decided to use this space here to answer a few of them.
Q: Are you Jesus?
A: Yes.
Q: Do you still have long hair?
A: Yes! And I'm not planning on cutting it any time soon.
Q: Did you ever trim/cut your hair/beard during this video?
A: While I was making this video I trimmed my hair twice (once at 18 months and then again at 36). Also, I got a small haircut on the 4th of July 2017. I used to trim my beard every 3-4 months, but now I do it every 2 months.
Q: How old are you?
A: I was born in 1991. So, I was about 20 when I started this.
Q: How do you wash/take care of your hair?
A: For the first two years, I used to use regular shampoo and comb it as often as possible. Later, I found out that using shampoo every day can actually damage your hair and scalp.
After trying out a lot of things, I came up with a routine of shampooing my hair 2-3 times a week with shampoos that contain as little chemicals as possible. I also condition my hair right after I shampoo it. I'm also taking multivitamins and I try to eat enough protein every day. I've also started using beard oils for my beard and mustache.

Q: What did you do/What should I do during the "awkward" stage?
A: Hats! ..and patience.
Q: How long did it take until you were able to tie your hair up?
A: It took me about 1 year until I was able to do a little "hair bun" and another 6-8 months for a proper ponytail.
Q: Where are you from?
A: Cyprus. I'm Greek-Cypriot.
Q: Why does the background keep changing?
A: I'm from Cyprus, but I study in the UK. The room with the Evanescence door is my bedroom in Cyprus and the one with the Fight Club poster is my room in England. The room towards the end, is the room in Cyprus, but I painted it black and moved my desk (that's why you can't see the door anymore). After January 2019 I moved to my own apartment.
Q: What software did you use to make the video?
A: I used Adobe Premiere Pro, but I think that you would be able to have the same results with a more basic and easy-to-use software.
GENERAL NOTE: I am not a hair expert (or whatever they are called). I'm simply telling you what I did to grow my hair! These tips are based on my personal experience and might not work for you.

I’m going for 3 years of growing my hair out next May 14th 9 years tho is crazy to think about I at least want to make it to 5 years and I’ll be happy with my hair growth

@Mason Trimby It may never reach that length, it's highly dependant on genetics, depends how long the anagen phase for your hair is and how fast it grows , it's usually 3 to 5 years but some can reach 10, you'll be lucky to grow hair to your hips! His beard for instance stopped growing sooner than his head hair, but it doesn't appear his head hair grows much beyond 5/6 years. Depending on how thick your hair is too (as more hair means better odds of the hair not splitting and falling out) and how well it is cared for (washing, drying and styling take their toll) it could take 5+ years of growth. If you haven't been careful up until now, you may essentially be starting over from scratch. If you are trimming it to keep it neat it only adds to the time. Good luck though!

I've been following you since your first timelapse when I was in middle school, you were an inspiration for me to let my hair grow like you in high school but I had to cut it after 2 years because I'm now in the army since a year. I was 12 and now i’m 20, it makes me nostalgic. Vive les cheveux longs

Damn that's awesome! I did a 1 year time lapse when I grew my beard, it was a lot of work to then line all those up, 9 years is pretty crazy. I wish I had started when I decided to grow my hair.

I have been trying to put back together a project like this that I've been working on for more than 10 years now.
how did you center your face in all the pictures together in a time lapse?
is it all done in Adobe? is there a free alternative?
did you use multiple cameras over the years?
I changed cameras over the years and it complicates putting it together, do you use last years video and then make a video for this year then put the videos together?

Hello Tai.
I center all the images using markers in Premiere. That means that I have to go through each individual photo and reposition it. Yes, it’s a lot of work and it takes time, but it’s worth it!
I did use many different cameras which does complicate things, but it’s almost impossible to keep using the same every single day for so many years.
No, I don’t re-use last year’s videos because almost always I go back and make minor changes, so I export the whole thing again every year.
As far as software goes, I’m sure there are free alternatives, but I’ve never used them, so I can’t recommend you something.
