Simply amazing I Love my People! If we were this creative and innovative off of the dance floor as a people/community the possibilities would be limitless. Damn these brothers and sisters can dance!
All I can say is Wooow what a beautiful art form, they make you feel like getting dressed and going out dancing some where. My hats off to you all, thanks for sharing that with me.
Absolute brilliant voice and music to compliment the absoutely wonderful classy movements. Such grace and style - Wow so impressed! Never seen this sophisticated kind of dancing on the T.V. A great pleasure to have seen this video in Facebook. Had to check it out!!!!!
I tell you what these folks are steppin. The guy in the white shirt & jeans with lady in the black top & jeans...hats off ! That is how you do it freestyle which is how many of our parents did it in the D. AWESOME.....dance on people ..how ever you do it!
My friends and i danced with Pete at the "Detroit white Party 2013" He has the moves, but certainly he's dancing to his partners level on this video!!! Perfect gentleman.....so don't expect the usual 'gettin it in moves. '
Why is everyone so surprised or giving props to Chicago. They do their thing no doubt, but in Detroit this has been going down for decades and we call it Ballrooming. It's nothing but the old hustle from the 60's - 70's which came from the south back in the 30's/40's in the juke joints. Our beautiful black grandparents brought it with them from the south during the great black migration to the north and our parents and now us have simply flipped it with modern moves. No city holds the patent
Oh My God. I almost got up and danced in my office. That was simply fantastic. All the couples were great especially, the couple in white, the couple with the guy in the red slacks AND the couple with the guy in the grey shirt. Now that brother was smooooooth.
Tonight on this day September 19, 2015 I heard this song at a birthday/cookout and within seconds of hearing the song I had to get up and ask the Dee Jay who sings this song.....This is a very nice song that really caught my ear.......
this song is for any age. just get up and do your thing any way you want. i am doing steps that are like WOW. cant wait to have a party and play this song. lov the song. I even put on so high heels, have not dance in heels in years, but you should see me doing my thing in heels, i am bad. lol
In my Heyday which was the sixties we called that dance, the Strand . Is anybody out there from Jersey ,Philadelphia , New York ,that know about the Strand in the 60s and the 70s ?
Let me educate yall on something: Chicago, Detroit and St. Louis will dance you under the table Steppin' Memphis and Kansas City got it on lock with the bar-b-que.......my point: Midwest Values run deep!!!!!
Don't want to be a killjoy but this is what we used to call the Hustle back in the mid 70s to early 80's. It is the same thing by another name. I am, notwithstanding, happy to see it make a comeback as I thought it was such a wonderful form of dance.
This video has really intrigued me to the point that now I'm taking "Steppin' Classes". Looking forward to one day getting out there in some of this competition. It's a very "Sexy" style of dancing......
All I can say is Wow what a beautiful art form, they make you feel like getting dressed and going out to dancing. My hats off to you all for sharing that with me.
Man Chi-town and Detroit are so cousin cities: jukin vs jittin and steppin vs ballrooming, I mean slight variations of the same things, but we both swear our styles are the best...lol (I reppin the D, of course) and I have fam in the Chi, we go at it about this stuff a lot.
This is fantastic i love you guys really and hey i,m white scottish the grooves do it for me and i would love to dance this good ,thanks for this video
@fae128 I beg to differ. I was born and raised in Detroit and it's been going down there for decades. Secondly, we've always called it Ballrooming, even when it was known as the Hustle everywhere else back in the 70's. I recall my mother, aunts, uncles and their friends talking about Ballrooming or Hustling back in the 60's when she was in highschool. 60's.., that's 50 years ago my friend. This style did not start in Chi-town, it started in the old juke joints of the south in 1930/40's
oddmodd You know your history. Yeah it all started down south. The Black all over the country put their own stamp on it. My parents called it two stepping and we are from Alabama. They would entertain us kids with it.
Tosca Smith My dad and mother born and raised in Detroit they lived in Black Bottom. My dad was part of the 500 club in the 60's and 70's they had there annual Picnic's at Belle Isle it was ballroom and the two step and the bop
