  • Located in a wild and remote part of Vancouver Island, the Nitinat River is known for its productive salmon runs that can range up to 500,000 salmon each year. It's also known for sneaky black bears patiently waiting for an opportunity to steal someone's fish. On this trip, the river wasn't exactly packed with salmon, but we did manage to find more fish than last year. This meant I finally got to experience the power of reeling in a mighty chinook in a river. What was it like? Watch and find out!

    Politely if you want to catch and release, do the videos for other well known systems. Smaller systems please don't publicize, else heaps of crowds starts coming.

    They’re sure harder to reel in when they’re not mouthhooked….

      Yep. It sucks hooking them, but it's hard to avoid that when there's so many of them stacked together in a pool.
