Miss Rachel, I have been critical in the past, so I feel compelled to be equally laudatory after watching your interview with Nancy Lieberman. You treated her and the topics with respect. You guided the interview while at the same time allowing it to breathe. Obviously, she is a LEGEND, so her input was going to be amazing, but everything that needed to be said was said, and you allowed it to happen in such an organic and flowing manner.
I know that you don't need praise from some old nobody on the internet like me, but you did a really good job. Just . . . .
    Well done, Miss.

When I watched Serena play tennis, I knew what I was watching, the best female player I was ever going to have the privilege of seeing. I wasn’t a golf enthusiast until Tiger came along and all of a sudden I couldn’t get enough.
Maybe Caitlin isn’t the best player in the league right now, but neither were any of these people when they first arrived. But there is something innate about certain people that lets you know you are witnessing something special. They don’t come around a lot, but she’s here now. Diana Taurasi was a standout player with impressive stats, but there were other players with comparable or even superior individual statistics who did not achieve the same level of team success in terms of NCAA championships. So why did she make the roster as a ROOKIE? So lets base it on Diana who was a rookie and called up days after her final NCAA match. She did not try out they selected her simply based on her college career.
    Comparison of Key Players:
    Diana Taurasi (UConn, 2000-2004)
    - Points per game: 15.0
    - Rebounds per game: 4.3
    - Assists per game: 4.5
    - Total points: 2,156
    - Championships: 3 (2002, 2003, 2004)
    - Awards: Naismith College Player of the Year (2003, 2004)
    Alana Beard (Duke, 2000-2004)
    - Points per game: 19.8
    - Rebounds per game: 6.1
    - Assists per game: 3.7
    - Total points: 2,687
    - Championships: 0
    - Awards: Wade Trophy (2004), Wooden Award (2004)
    Seimone Augustus (LSU, 2002-2006)
    - Points per game: 19.3
    - Rebounds per game: 5.2
    - Assists per game: 1.6
    - Total points: 2,702
    - Championships: 0
    - Awards: Naismith College Player of the Year (2005, 2006)
    Cappie Pondexter (Rutgers, 2002-2006)
    - Points per game: 18.3
    - Rebounds per game: 4.0
    - Assists per game: 3.9
    - Total points: 2,211
    - Championships: 0
    - Awards: Big East Player of the Year (2006)
While Taurasi had an extraordinary college career with both impressive individual stats and team success, other players like Alana Beard and Seimone Augustus were also outstanding but did not achieve the same level of team success in terms of championships.
    Caitlin Clark (Iowa, 2020-2024):
    Points per game (PPG): 27.1
    Rebounds per game (RPG): 7.1
    Assists per game (APG): 7.8
    Field Goal Percentage (FG%): 46.2%
    3-Point Field Goal Percentage (3P%): 35.7%
    Free Throw Percentage (FT%): 85.9%
    Diana Taurasi (UConn, 2000-2004):
    Points per game (PPG): 15.0
    Rebounds per game (RPG): 4.3
    Assists per game (APG): 4.5
    Field Goal Percentage (FG%):: 46.1%
    3-Point Field Goal Percentage (3P%): 38.3%
    Free Throw Percentage (FT%): 80.7%
Caitlin Clark has a higher scoring average (27.1 PPG) compared to Diana Taurasi (15.0 PPG).
Rebounding: Clark also leads in rebounds per game (7.1 RPG) over Taurasi (4.3 RPG).
Assisting: Clark averages more assists per game (7.8 APG) compared to Taurasi (4.5 APG).
Shooting Efficiency: Field goal percentages are nearly identical, with Clark at 46.2% and Taurasi at 46.1%.Taurasi has a slightly better 3-point shooting percentage (38.3%) compared to Clark (35.7%).Clark is more efficient from the free-throw line at 85.9%, compared to Taurasi’s 80.7
So please explain to me how Diana as a rookie made it onto the Olympic roster when she was not the best coming out of college even though she benefited from padding her career with championships? Championships she obviously earned because she had an awesome TEAM. Caitlin Clark should have always been in consideration to be on roster much like Diana Taurasi was when she was still a collegiate athlete.
    Caitlin Clark (Indiana Fever):
    Points per game (PPG): 15.6
    Rebounds per game (RPG): 5.1
    Assists per game (APG): 6.4
    Steals per game: 1.3
    Blocks per game: 1.0
    Field Goal Percentage (FG%): 35.7%
    Three-Point Percentage (3PT%): 29.7%
    Turnovers per game 5.4
    Diana Taurasi (Phoenix Mercury 2024)
    Points per game (PPG): 14.7
    Rebounds per game (RPG): 3.0
    Assists per game (APG): 5.4
    Steals per game: 0.8
    Blocks per game: 0.2
    Field Goal Percentage (FG%): 36.9%
    Three-Point Percentage (3PT%): 32.4%
Diana should not be on this roster and her comment are hypocritical. It just show she is an egotistical and selfish person.
Nobody in charge and on the team wanted to see Caitlin go off. They did not want to be a part of the overshadowing Caitlin's celebrity would have brought and the potential exciting plays on court she would have done. They did not want to boost this women into the stratosphere by placing her on the global stage. The fanbase in the United States doesn't care about anyone else other than Caitlin. The numbers prove it. The potential of having the world wanting just this women was just too great. The women running the WNBA jealousy truly shows.
ALLOWING CAITLIN CLARK TO GET A GOLD MEDAL WOULD HAVE MADE HER A GOD AND THEY DID NOT WANT TO DEAL WITH THAT. SO INSTEAD THEY PREEMPTIVELY CUT THE PRAISE OF HER SHORT BY 4 YEARS.

Let's take DT. % close to CC in scoring, assist not too bad and with less TO. She can also defend 1on1, and has great leadership. CC is not a leader yet, she has never had to be as that was Kate, her defense 1on1 is not great, and high technical foul count. You cannot blame the TO just on the team, she is stripped a lot has been since college. So she can score, but would be the target to be scored on. Any half decent scout knows this and would target her. IE a defensive liability Anywho, carry on

In her own words, the amazing vets of her time made sure to include and guide her when she was a rookie herself. Now that she's THE vet, she tells the others not to include the Rookie under the guise of "experience matters" - juxtaposed with her vet/rookie words just makes her look jealous and bitter.

First of all, long-time Nancy Lieberman fan. The late '70s frequently saw me watching Old Dominion basketball more than the NBA _because_ of her. Great interview, ladies...
This week could easily be subtitled "Mean Girls: The WNBA Edition." Incredibly disappointed in Diana Taurasi. Rather than choosing to mentor a player who is bringing eyes, attention, and fans to a league which has never been profitable in its 28 years of existence, she is apparently leading the charge to maintain the NBA's role as "sugar daddy" while the players continue to sustain a pointless argument about pay equity. Like her or not, Caitlin has grown interest and sold tickets. I still believe Chelsea Gray will not be able to compete and they will send Caitlin to Paris, but the brand damage is done.

To be honest I had heard of some of these players but never really cared to watch until Caitlin Clark only because she is such an exciting player to watch.

One y'all keep mentioning the league, which this has nothing to do with nor should it, 2 ya'll seem to think she should just be given things she didn't earn (she did not attend any of the team workouts or tryout), and yes she could have that was her decision not to, YOU never really cared to watch, but others did, hell other teams have been selling out. She is not the best all around player in the pool of players they had to choose from, she's not even the best all around positional player. When she has no chemistry and practice she still slings the rock like baseball and expects those she hasn't even practiced with to be psychic. THE OC who literally has one job, to win wasn't messing with this tomfoolery.

I love how Nancy talks about the Team USA program. and I believe they should send Clark, Arike, and one or two other young players. FOR THE FUTURE as Nancy says. This whole thing stinks of betrayal by Team USA to me. Team USA developed Caitlin, she did everything you could ask a young player to do to prove theyre ready. Her junior and senior year she beat both defending champions, she lifted a team that hadn't been to the final four in 30 years to two consecutive finals games. her senior year she led the NCAA in scoring and assists, breaking the all time scoring record while amassing a total of 46 records and awards. Not one member of that roster can say they did that. Not good enough you say, then how did she get to 200 points and 75 assists faster than anyone in wnba history? She'd have half as many turnovers and more assists if her teammates could handle a pass. Diana Taurasi says she won 3 rings like she did it on her own. This roster is individuals, not teams. Hey Caitlin, 3x Staley award winner, you're not a good enough PG. Diana Taurasi being on this team is an insult to Team USA, not good enough to have as many medals and records as your teammates. She's got to have one more. Shouldn't Team USA be as loyal to the young developing player as they are the veteran? All of Clark's achievements used to mean something. Iowa in the Final Four 2 years in a row, and breaking scoring and assist records would more than likely make every stuck up player from one of the many powerhouse alma maters. Why is Caitlin Clark so hated in the WNBA? Because Lisa Bluder and her girls dismantled everybody that got in their way until LSU. But they got their revenge, just like SC did. You talk about the jealousy against her in the league. Aliyah Boston, Rookie of the Year. When does she show up or does she keep on stickin with the homies when they mistreat her teammates? Aint like she broke Kelsey Mitchell's Big 10 scoring record or anything like that. CC22's stats show she's not the problem on the team. These three should be lighting it up. Why aren't they? I saw Kelsey pass a couple times the other day, they won. Next game, she forgot how to pass. I'm not saying CC22 doesnt make mistakes or get outplayed, but she's better than advertised.

HI everyone, THIS IS NO JOKE, I am currently in Europe and was going to go to the Olympics just to watch Caitlin Clark play. Well obviously that has changed. So, I am asking for some suggestions to make a NICE RESPECTFULL T- shirt as I am 70 years old. Something to show the world how we feel about these thugs that are suppose to represent team USA. PLEASE be respectful . I promise I will make sure someone takes notice

Would it not be better for the selection committee to simply speak the truth, that the committee and the players are not comfortable with her and that her presence would compromise team cohesion. Clark should publicly announce that she will not interfere with Team U.S.A. success in any way. Plus there's always the chance she might get hurt, accidentally, by her team mates, in practice, accidentally.

I think CC would have been great at the Olympics, but would they have given her enough minutes to be effective probably not. I believe that CC needs some rest. she has gone from the College tournament to the WNBA unless than a year. This why she has so many turn overs, plus she is pushing herself too hard. Then there all the media attention, interviews after interviews, she has hardly had any time to breathe. So not being in the Olympics might actually give her some time to rest and refocus. She deserves some time for herself. She is still young and I'm sure she will be awesome in the next Olympics.

The arguments for both sides of this issue have valid points, and the arguments to keep her off would be even more meaningful - if there were no point of reference or precedent. There are - Based on history; factual, evidentiary history; from previous Olympics, from before we selected pros and the most recent Olympic teams, and in support of the Olympic mission and the supposed desire of the WNBA to grow - there is absolutely zero argument to leaving her off the roster, because of such precedents. The decision COMPLETELY invalidates their desire to grow, especially while the numbers are peaking. This is a step back, and a severe lack of VISION, which is exactly why the WNBA is where it is and not where it wants to be.
    .
The team will win without CC. They’ll win the gold, but they just lost the hearts and minds of millions of new and prospective fans - which would’ve translated into revenue and a better lifestyle for EVERYONE in the WNBA.
    .
Personally, imagine CC, Reese, and Brink on that team. New blood. Show the world a new era of dominance, while the vets - the old warriors gracefully step down with their heads high and support the new players coming in. Imagine the numbers - for EVERYONE. Realistically, that’s a tough ask…

The Olympic Committee and Cheryl Reese has made a huge mistake. It's called the Cheryl Reese Effect. Cheryl Reese said she doesn't give two Sh$s about CC's Fans. The ladies on the Olympic Team will win Gold with or without CC. But the WMBA has said they want to grow the WMBA. The biggest draw of eyes and you'll said CC is not good enough. Great now you can play in front of empty stands. When the stands are full they are not there to watch Team USA. No merchandise will be sold. You all have made your bed so lay in it.
