    As a Shaolin practitioner of the North for over 35 years I am happy to see my brothers of southern Shaolin of the Hung Gar branch stepped out into the light like other shaolin branches, wing Chung,Choy Li Fut,Shorinji Kempo, if those criticizing this tape would know how hard it was to learn the breakdown of the forms in the 60s 70s and 80s they would appreciate these videos on RUclips peace and love fund a brother in the North.

    Question: why so much negativity? These people are enjoying themselves, training to become better, and trying their best. What's with the negativity and comments about stomachs and the like? If you don't like it don't go to their training camp, but be respectful of these people and their effort at learning something!

    • @jasonking1284
      @jasonking1284 8 лет назад

      "trying their best. ".... WTF... this is the most unimpressive training in anything I have ever seen. There is close to zero effort and enthusiasm shown by the practitioners. Just going through some motions is all that I can see..... no force, no speed, no sweat..... and you say they are ""trying their best."..... bullshit...

    • @virtualpro685
      @virtualpro685 8 лет назад

      +Jason King once again, I assume you know nothing about these people , their histories, personal challenges, etc. so what is the point of your "criticism?" I see nothing in your comment that is constructive, just negative. I don't know your motivation for posting this response to my comment, but if it makes you feel superior, better or generally strokes your ego (being at a keyboard using your typin fu) more power to you.

    • @jasonking1284
      @jasonking1284 8 лет назад

      Gary Williams
      I , or anyone else doesn't need to know their histories or backgrounds. The video displays everything. My motivation for posting was your bending of reality in praising great effort when there is clearly very little effort displayed. You want to feel good when other sheeple readers agree with your falsehoods. I am not a sheeple and can see and think with my own mind. It annoys me when someone tries to say black is white or left is right or up is down. No, no. What makes you think I have some obligation to comment something constructive or positive. Superiority is not something I was even considering. I only value reality and to me, you are bending reality and attempting to dupe others into agreeing with you and making you feel all smug.

    • @virtualpro685
      @virtualpro685 8 лет назад

      Actually I rarely comment on you tube videos. But let me address this for th e last time because I have a life that requires attention and effort. I think I is you who want the sheep to foloow and praise you. You are typical of somempeople who feel that the need to commment negatively on what others do based on yiur opinion. That is fine. I guess as someone with a life outside of the online world I do not see the need to comment on certain things. If I see a video I do not like I simply click off. That's me. I am not in need of feeling superior to anyone. If that is your need fine. Feed your online ego as much as you want. Finally and I do mean finally I will not "defend" my position of sayingnthatvtherenis really no need for negativity on other people's videos. So enjoy your life and your take on it. Have a realy nicetime being you.

    Thanks so much for posting this! It saddens me that people’s knee jerk reaction is to immediately compare everything to MMA or BJJ. There is much value in the traditional arts that transcend self defense. Hung Gar IS a very effective system, rich in culture and tradition.

    It takes lots of effort to develop a camp of Hung Gar in Sweden and I appreciate it very much, keep up the effort. Only a little comment, I believe the Hung Gar Kung Fu against Mok Jong is in Unicorn(Kei Lun) step, Tiger-Crane style Palm, strong Bridge-Hand instead of a Wingchun like move.

    Kung fu in all its earliest forms began with the poor people and with monks, what you refer to as 'trailer park kung fu" is and has valid valid form and movement as well as training. It seems to me that you have forgotten that Kung Fu encompasses all things and many of its maneuvers can be found in everyday life. Kung fu is water, Kung fu is standing against the great wind, kung fu is dancing in the river, kung fu is yard work, kung fu is in all things one does. Your comment is that of a fool

    Hung-Ga Kuen- is a chinese boxing style founded by Grandmaster Hung Huei Kwun, he was trained by shaolin monks in the way of Tiger and Crane style, it´s a rough and graceful style with devastating attacks and if taught correctly it´s undefeatable. I dont know why people talk about MMA here, it´s just insulting and degradating, try lookin for a traditional chinese boxer in its ranks and you will fail. We dont fight in octagons and we dont use gloves.

    What today people called mixed martial arts we would want in the 60s and the 70s I remember 70 to 80 people from different martial arts would get together in Brooklyn New York on Thursday nights and actually beat each other up testing what we have learned in our schools all week long to three or four clock the more this is how we knew what we learned was useful for self defense so all of you who criticize, should be happy for youtube you save a lot of money, time, and pain, piece and love.

  • @misterduggy

    When learning Chinese gung fu, particularly Hung Ga, it is imperative that the student develops correct foundation with stances, theory of movements, and breath control. These aide significantly in not only one's martial development but also in one's physical development or body toning. Hence, it is quite evident that these practitioners are merely interested in "learning" the techniques of Hung Ga, instead of fully developing the true skill and power of Hung Ga!

      David Ross 5 years later and it is still the same with over 95% of students all around western culture. I always, bevor ever having had a lessons of some sort and without ever trying to reproduce moves I had seen somewhere, I had a natural interest in fighting all my life; I am an highly analytical person and have a good understanding and 'comunication' with my body, on top of that I am logical and like to be prepared for all sorts of things ... so I came up with a mentality- certain rules for myself (for example I don't attack eyes or genetals) first and after sorting those things out (also no jump kicks cause It dosen't feels right) I was left with a wide range of options so I imagened someone attaking me (always very fast, as fast as I could react) and tried taking him out the fastest way. My movements came natural and after doing that; going running, standing in horse stand, doing optimized versions of sit ups ect I then picked out certain movements that I did over and over on instinct and then did a 1000 of them, for example, in a row.
      That way my muscels build up exactly how I need them and don't get numb as easily as the ones of others do. Also I am not limited to certain moves. My muscels did what my subconsciosnes said and learned bevor my consciouness did, that whay my consciouses was free to observe and woudn't hinder me in terms of speed.
      Edit: I just remembered my point; just a few days ago I came across hung ga(r) and it is affuly similar to my style.

    One should strive not to hit another, especially not with the fragile back of the hand... Grapple them and shrink and trap them, but don't hit them. It is below the true spirit of a martial artist... But this camp seems very well coordinated and like a whole lot of fun! I practice Wugulun Shaolin. This looks really cool, and very disciplined! Well done, and much respect! God bless...

    What you're referring to is called wushu, that is the acrobatic stage movement system in China and everywhere else. Hung-Gar can be brutal when it's taught by a good sifu. Boxing and MMA are fighting techniques. Martial arts are different in nature and they posssess different attitudes as well. Why you desperately want to compare these things?

    Before attacking the people in this video, people should ask themselves: Do I engage in any physical or sports-related activity regularly? Now, look down. Can you see your legs? If you can't you're too fat and shouldn't criticize other fat persons. Finally, ask yourselves: Wouldn't my comment make me a douche? Though, if you happen to be an informed person in Hung Gar Kung Fu, and wish to offer some pointers, you could do so with amiability and respect.

      A YEAR! ONLY 1 year! He took 1 year of training from Ip Man and then he moved to California where he opened his new martial arts scrool.

    High marks for enthusiasm but the students are being scammed by a man who is neither skilled, proficient or learned in any level of hun gar other than what is found on the big screen of Hollywood movies he is denying them crucial building blocks to a rather useful Martial art style without which they will forever be both made fun of and defeated leading to a defeatist attitude in life however I really hope these kids figure it out sooner than later
