If you did everything the same, then maybe the threads are stripped in the Manifold and you can't get the housing tight enough? I've done this same exact method on my last three Mustangs and never had an issue. So either there's something wrong with your parts or you're missing something in the procedure. :)
No, that's either a head gasket, intake manifold gasket, or water pump gasket. The water pump gasket is the least likely, but it's on the list. The intake manifold gasket is the easiest to check, I'd start there. However, it will require a new gasket, I've got a video on how to do that job on my channel. Good luck!! :)
You missed the drain pan
Nope, I got it in there, but I wanted to get it on the floor too.
Man I just did this with my motor because the thermostat went out and now it's not Sealing did everything the same way you did any suggestions

Happens to me too. I miss the drain pan with coolent. EVERY TIME 😂
Haha, it happens to the best of us. :)
Cool beans there's all kinds of schools of thought but u don't need to drain the whole system.
Agreed.
I am having this problem. Does a leaky thermostat gasket cause coolant to get into the combustion chambers?

Grey RTV if you wanna seal it up
Black works too. :)
Can this cause overheating?
Nope, done this on multiple cars with no issues. :)
i had to use rtv sealant man i hated this project
Surprisingly the 3M spray glue works pretty well to hold the gasket to the housing, then the thermostat RTV-stuff works good and there's no leaks. :)
We all know that feeling of missing the catch pan when opening the radiator drain valve…
😵💫🫨🤣
The worst part is I never seem to learn from my mistakes. 😁
Did this exact same method and mine still leaks. Not as bad but it leaks
Hmmm, I guess it needs to be done again. I've done it this way on three different Mustangs and none of them leak. :)
I'm going to try the o housing next. I've got a 67 and a 91. Both leak. Guess it's a mustang thing
302?
289. :)
