TRUE, when I was fourteen years old in 1964 and started playing guitar, I tried to play Walk Don't Run like everybody else. Great memories of the Ventures. God Bless Don Wilson and the great Ventures.

The Ventures were not a "Surf Rock" band.
They were an instrumental band that covered all kinds of songs, including the "Theme From Batman", who we all know had nothing to do with surfing.
True there is an album called "Surfing" by these guys, but surf music wasn't all they knew.
Truth be known, Nokie Edwards was also a great country music player, as well.
The main legacy they leave behind is a plethora of guitarists, both amateur &pro, from all over the world.
Peter Yarrow & Paul Stookey made me want to play the guitar.
The Beatles & The Ventures made me want to go electric, & plug in..
Then, Jimi Hendrix came along, & made me want to quit altogether.
RIP to all the Ventures, now reunited in spirit for eternity.

I also grew up with them. I have a room full of their albums. Many are simply worn out.
They seemed like brothers to me. Don, Bob, Mel, Nokie, Gerry, Leon.
I love the Latin Album btw.
    Great careers, great artists.
Always in my heart, every day.....
    Thanks!

As a teen in the '70's' I found a few Ventures albums at a yard sale and loved them since. The music was always up-beat and bright. As an adult I discovered "The Shadows" which was a predominantly instrumental group backing up Cliff Richards. I felt that Hank Marvin and Bruce Welch was UK's Nookie Edwards/Bob Bogle and Don Wilson and wondered who broke thru first during that pre-Beatlemania era.
