Have you ever tried doing the roller set with a completely wet head as well as a wrapping/setting lotion. I would imagine that would help your curls last longer
She said she doesn’t like doing it on wet hair because it doesn’t give her the fluffy smooth, blown out look. When people do it on wet hair with the lotion the curls always look kinda crispy to me lol
That gives u better results but it takes longer to dry ofc, air dry probs the entire day (night wouldn’t be long enough) and if u get under a hairdryer probs an hour

I learned to do rollers when I was very young. I hate going to the salon to get my hair done. They never know how I want my hair. I’m very particular when it comes to my hair so I just do it myself.... Girl just pick up the rollers and start doing it that’s the only way you will learn. Omg I loveeee the intro to this video. I’m only 2 minutes in and I had to comment. I transitioned from relaxed to natural for 13 months and did the big chop about a month ago. I have my good days and bad days as far as self confidence without my straight long but in general I loveee my natural hair. Kudos to you for loving the skin you’re in and owning your natural hair ❤️

Yes I have Haitisn and Cuban, Guyanese Indian,and we do this your is amazing love it and your Mom looks so young ps you can do this using perm rods also it might be easier .
This is different, I've never tried doing my rolos with dry hair hair. We 🇵🇷 do ours with wet hair! The drying process is longer but the results are amazing! I need to learn now that my mom lost strength in her hands to do them nice and tight.
I relaxed my hair when I was 14 and when I was 18 I think was when my hair started to wave and curl. I finally got my natural curly fry hair when I was 20/21. I love my hair more than anything 🥰

I completely understand and relate to what you said about getting too comfortable with wigs. That’s exactly what I’ve been going through the last few months. I don’t normally feel uncomfortable with my natural hair but in February, I didn’t have my wig with me and just my hair tied in a low bun with a clip on ponytail and for some reason, even after doing my makeup, I still felt incomplete and “ugly” and I just didn’t like how I looked. My biggest issue with Afro hair is that I feel like hairstyles are limited especially when you have awkward length hair. It can also be quite time consuming which is why I’ve gotten so used to just slapping on a wig
Adanna madueke has short hair and rocks so many styles with extensions but they look natural. I follow her even though i have longer hair because she is serious hairspo.
Story of my life....it’s hard maintaining black hair, especially when u add fitness to the mix, so i understand where the “self hate” comes from. It’s just impatience and frustration with the ease of which our hair can be styled. I love rollersets, they never look the same as the first day...but a rollerset on freshly trimmed hair can last days even weeks once u get the hang of how ur hair can transition throughout the week. Def a learning curve but i can’t wait to see u learn to master this and ur hair.

💜 I used to love a roller set when I was relaxed. I just hated that it took my hair over 2 hours to dry under even the best hooded dryer. I am the daughter of a licensed cosmetologist that can do a FIERCE roller set but I can’t roll hair to save my life. Now that I’m natural I just rock my curls.
I went to school for cosmetology..I sucked at doing roller sets...lol...but I was really good at it finger waves. Roller sets give you the best volume!...Looks great on you!

There are a lot of youtube channels and styles/techniques out there like deep conditioning with heat, shampooing in sections, braid outs, twist outs, mini twists. I like youtubers finallyamber, happycurlhappygurl, nappyheadedjojoba, fusionofcultures, naptural85. There's plenty of info on the internet. I don't recommend buying every single styling product they recommend if not you'll get broke but there are options.
Oooooh can I ever relate! I stopped relaxing a little over a decade ago, and always wetset with rollers, like my mama taught me! Under that stupid silver bonnet hairdryer, but you know what? My hair has grown so much! Now I have discovered brazilian blowouts, and still use my rollers and that combo is gorgeous, the curls slowly leave over the course of a week. after a fresh wash and flat iron or roller set, dubee wrap is a must. way more comfortable than sleeping with rollers.

I would use setting lotion when doing the rollerset. Then wrap it after taking the rollers out. That should help make it last but still give it body.

My baby girl has so much trouble doing her hair. We no longer relax her hair Cuz it damaged it. So now she’s all natural and has trouble and gets so frustrated. I’ll be sending her this video. We can go buy everything and do this! Beautiful
There are a lot of youtube channels and styles/techniques out there like deep conditioning with heat, shampooing in sections, braid outs, twist outs, mini twists. I like youtubers finallyamber, happycurlhappygurl, nappyheadedjojoba, fusionofcultures, naptural85. There's plenty of info on the internet. I don't recommend buying every single styling product they recommend if not you'll get broke but there are options.

Oooooh can I ever relate! I stopped relaxing a little over a decade ago, and always wetset with rollers, like my mama taught me! Under that stupid silver bonnet hairdryer, but you know what? My hair has grown so much! Now I have discovered brazilian blowouts, and still use my rollers and that combo is gorgeous, the curls slowly leave over the course of a week. I'm Creole, btw (Black, French & Am. Indian). You are beautiful!!!
