Thank you Sir, very very helpful. I'm in collage studding and I have to wait 1 year for the classes I need for utilities. The company is offering me a supervisor job, but need to know how to do it right. Is there any way you can do an example from beginning to the end, using the automatic level and having the data from the blueprints of heights (levels). I want to know how to lay a standard precast manhole section. I get lost with all the heights on the blue prints and the supervisor will not tell me how. The company is willing to put me with a group but, the supervisor will not show me how, he feels that I want to take his job, even knowing the boss tolled him to show me how.
Raul, did you finally got to be promoted? How things are going on? . I am the same right now. The superintend wants me to move up but I don't feel comfortable yet.I feel that I need little more experience to start supervising a crew.
Terry, thank you so much, people don't speak English like 100 percent, will be help whit this kind of video, can you make a video speaking about how set the structure, manhole , how work with the elevations numbers ! That you
It is not mentioned that the distance 1.27 is it horizontal distance or the distance with slope, as we are talking about slop , the slope is a resultant of division of vertical and real horizontal diastase with no slope in order to get the slop itself . I wish I can get an answer to my view . Thank you
The distance is the distance from the inside wall of one structure to the other structure. It is not the length of pipe, but the measured distance between the two structures. You could calculate the length of pipe using the pythagorean theorem; a2 + b2 = c2, where a is the height and b is the distance between the two structures. Then solving for c would give you the length of the pipe.
Question good sir, what would you say is the perfect slope percentage for a domestic septic system, for the house to tank portion? Also do you have any advice for for frost line depth install in northern climates? Thanks for the info, I’ll share these videos
@@grant4980 wtf lol no way that screaming dude. Sanitary can be run at a minimum of about .33 on your laser which is almost level just a slight pitch if you throw a 4 ft level on a piece of sdr-35 thats roughly about touching line on your level
remember, you are working from design elevations which is not associated with current ground elevations when the work is being done. work from print elevations and benchmarks. hope this answered your questions
@@acedeucetray2880 assuming this will be applied in real life. We will only add half of the pipe thickness? I solved the difference of elevation of a 17m pipes between to manholes and got only 0.567% and was wondering why its 10cm.
Can you use this same formula using length in feet and using height in inches? I don't have a pipe laser I have a rotary laser. So I would take a shot of my low point and a shot of my high point, measure the difference in height in inches and then measure the length in between. What I am usually doing is replacing storm pipe that is rotted with new sdr or n-12 pipe. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to know if I can set the percentage correctly on a RL-SV2S Rotating Laser. Thanks anyone
Yes, you are able to use wherever laser you got available at the moment or even a streamline... the key is to use the math correctly. With the percentage of slope, you can multiply the length of 2 pipes for example (40 ft) by the % slope, the result is the height where the pipe has to settle down at 40 feet (2 lengts). So, what it rest is place your rotary laser in the structure opening (invert position of the pipe) and then make sure that your laser dot is pointed out at the same height you previously calculated. 3 important things: remember that your laser has a height you need to consider, and also remember you need to be exact positioned at 2 pipes lengths when settle your laser. For last, consider if you're down or up to hill. But is easier and quicker always works with the right tools... I could say this is a way to resolve for while if youre pipe laser has broken or running out of batteries and your are far away from any civilization hahahahaha.
I am assuming that you are asking if you are laying uphill vs downhill. For ease of calculation always subtract the lowest elevation from the highest elevation this will give you a positive value. Then complete the calculation. If you are laying downhill the laser setting is negative, if you are laying uphill the laser setting is positive. Hope this answered your question.
How the hell do you do that in imperial? I’ve been a grademan for 5 years and is that 81 . Something feet? What are the lower numbers right of the decimal? Fractions of inches . I understand you can rise over run in feet but how does it jive like in gay Canada and the metric system?
For those of us who thought that Y=Mx+b would never be "applicable in the real world". Great vid sir!
To be fair, prints already give us the %

perfectly explained
How would you include thickness of pipe into this formula?
I mean invert A s-101 is 81.25 from el, so invert leve A s-102 should be 81.75 on Staff for example isn, 'it. Woul you be able to help?
Well explained
Very informative , Thank you Sir
Mr Terry. Yeas but how com strure s-102 is lower then s-101 so the results on Staff shoul be higher i mean from el level is it.?

But don’t you also have to add the thickness of the Pipe?
For calculating a slope lol? Why would you? We’re not calculating installation / design elevation?
That’s only when you set your Flowline if it’s HDPE and or RCP

What if you multiply by 20 instead of a 100
What if you are digging from lowest point to highest point.
