I've only plastered once in my whole life and never heard of that!! I was like what??!! The 5/6 stages (depending on whether you are skimming over render or boards) of plastering, must be done on the same day before the plaster goes rock hard. Having said that, I have never tried polishing it the following day so perhaps it's not for me to say. But you really don't need it that smooth.
good video, most customers like to feel the wall very smooth but i just polish it a little as the paint wont absorb, also once a roller goes over it its not smooth any more, make sure its flat with no holes
Good videos, I assume your adding the plaster to water in the bucket as doing it the other way round it will set too fast? I noticed a professional did it this way when I had some walls done.
most the plasterers i know would just trowel it up once...lazy gits...money talks nowadays though skilled workmen are getting undercut everywhere....false economy really....rant over cheers
I prefer it burnished as long as its flat, you can put a real thin mist coat on it and the finished wall is lovely and flat. I must say though this tutorial is about as much use to a novice as a chocolate trowel.. no mentioning of timings, and how the plaster should look and feel to the touch before the subsequent coat goes on, or the next wet troweling should be done, and what happens if you go on too soon or too late, ripping etc. If you aint going to tell us the secrets, dont call it TTS!
dry trowel the next day lol thats a new one , if you do it right the 1st day you shouldn't have to do anything apart from start somewhere ells the next day
Done 10 sqr mtr today , warm room..flpingeccc arm hurts, the first coat dried a bit fast so it was hard to push it flat, second mix was well wet to give me more time and as the plaster brd is now wet with1st coat much more time to flatten out . 15 pound sqr mtr ...hrd work...
er yeah not a bad job i suppose but why is he trowelling it up when its that hard no need for that at all, i usually finish off with a dry trowell just to get the odd watermark out but not when its that set, the wall should be well finished by that stage its already drying out
whats with the wetting of the corners and you should trowel up and down in the corners not side to side all the time otherwise you will have curving out corners tommy i'm surprised you want to put your name to this
Im not saying that the people that have been plasterers for 20 years, 10 years etc, etc are lying but if they have been plastering that long then why are they watching a plastering tutorial??? Lol
Hey RysterMegsterx it depends on what hand you hold your trowel mate you see if your right hand you will start from left to right and if you are left hand you will start right to left as p.s this video will teach you how not to plaster a wall do not do what he has its alllllllll WRONG!!!!
i would get my balls booted for doing this, any plasterer can hear that stuff has set. if all the small holes and marks are filled, fair enough but polishing a wall when it's past setting is just an armbreaker. coat in a good thickness, flaten. one wet rub and a polish (two wet trowels) finished. decent 2" brush and a 4" paintbrush from b&q a spraybottle will murder a diyer.
Good little tutorial.
I think the lad did a grand job

@aiyic you can put the second coat on straight after as long as the first coat aint to soggy still
are you final troweling the next day? as its already starting to dry its unlikely to be that dry the same day
How long should you wait between the first and second coat?
A lot more smoover? I think he meant a lot smoother!

dont even need to shine it up unless you want to piss off the painters
