Bought K8 750 as my starter bike. Still alive. Not playing tough and being totally honest: A, B and C mode make all the difference. If you are mature enough to be at peace with yourself that you aren't close enough to even B mode, this is pretty good starter bike. Just be honest with yourself and mature enough. And it goes without saying, don't expect to pull those Rossi type of cornering anytime soon. If you love that bike but you're okay with your noob skill, then this bike won't try to kill you. Amazing bike
Amazing bike but a terrible starter bike. Not saying responsible people wont be responsible with it.... just like you're citing here you're more focused on controlling the beast than developing skills to tame the beast. I'm a beginner looking for my first bike, I have 0 experience... thinking about getting a 750cc & just be on C mode for at least a year... Good idea or nah ????
Daniel Laurence no definitely stick with a smaller bike, it’s way too much bike for a beginner, yeah some people started on one and are fine but really should get a smaller bike and learn how to ride, corner and handle a motorcycle for awhile and then later down the road get one, I ride a 79’ Yamaha SR500 only 30hp lol but I’m learning a lot, I took my friends 2013 Honda CB1100ex for a ride (80hp) and even that hp scared the shit out of me and I was like way too much bike for me right now but it’s all your choice on what you wanna do
Hell to the nah lmao. A GSX-R 750 is a whole lot different from a 750 V-Twin. This might as well be a liter bike, start with something with more forgiving torque to get confident on. My advice? Buy a beater with some dings and scratches to fuck around with. Nothing worse than seeing a brand new bike dropped or wrecked because of rider inexperience. Good luck!
Daniel Laurence I would say yes get the 750cc. the bike can’t do anything that you don’t want it to do. you should be fine with a 750cc, it’s a shit ton of power, but only you control the power. you know how much throttle to give and when not to give too much throttle. the clutch, braking, gears, etc is all the same as if you were on a 250, just a bigger bike engine wise. these 750s sit small. hell to me i think a 750 or a 600 are easier to begin on than a 250 or 300cc.
Interesting commentary. I have found this bike to be fairly safe, great handling, very progressive power delivery, I have the K8 and kept the cat but have a Yoshi pipe, low down grunt is great. I always catch myself wanting a 1000 but everyone tells me you can’t max a litre bike on the street and therefore it’s not actually fun, but I’m not sure. I think I’ll end up chopping it in for an R1
Lol those people are scared to own a 1000. There’s definitely a difference in highway cruise rpm, passing power, and mpg. A 1000 is like driving a hellcat vs a 600 driving a Honda Civic si.
I had the same bike and you have to be fairly aggressive to get it up in 2nd. 2nd gear power wheelies are non existent, but first gear was easy from 5-6k rpms.
So i have a question. I have a zx6r with the 636 engine and i have been wanting to sell it so i can get a gsxr 750. Does any one recomend me doing the move or should i stay with the zx or upgrade to the gsxr??
