As someone else said - this saved my 5020! One thing you should mention, which I found on someone else's video: when you check the voltages, you have to do it in the first 2 seconds. Once the blue blinks start, the power supply shuts off and you get 0 volts everywhere. Once again though - thanks!

Great Video. I bought the chip from Digi Key part # NJM2846DL3-18-TE1CT-ND . I used the weller pyropen with the standard 4.5 mm tip which worked well. One mistake when I was removing the chip I inadvertently tore the copper trace from two of the pin positions. Make sure to heat ALL OF THE POINTS OF CONTACT when removing chip GENTLY. Really important to use the flux and hold the chip in place down when soldering new chip to the torn traces when cooling solder. The torn traces act like mini springs. I used a soldering iron to solder the outputs to the traces once the main chip was set. Took about an hour from set removal to replacement. Again well done NorCAL 715 !!

I just tried using my $20 compact Wall Lenk LSP-25 butane powered soldering iron (with tip remove) to unsolder a surface mount chip like you did with your Weller Pyropen at 3:35. To my surprise, it worked pretty well. Thanks for the idea.

Thanks So much. Fixed my TV yesterday. This is the way to do it. Don't cut the legs with the micro-wire cutters - De-Solder only! and remove the PCB it is easy, just a few more screws and some ribbon connections. The PCB is delicate go easy, almost ruined my PCB by tearing off the bottom leg's contact from the board when trying to cut it off with wire cutters.

Randy Saucerman great job on your repair,I order the part but the thing is that I'm getting 1.8v on the old IC and not 3.4v on the input, can this mean that the IC is working and not the board?Im going to replace it regardless but I don't know if not having 3.4v input is also a problem with the Regulator, thanks.

By any chance - did you happen to look for or notice an accompanying orange blink code? The service manual mentions that if you hit the display button during the blue blinking, you get a secondary orange blink code :) Just anxious to find if I have the same issue that y'all do.

I have a different question on a 2006 Pioneer Elite Plasma 60" TV. Over time, the tv screen has got faint red lines that run from top right hand corner of the screen and run 1/2 to 1/3 way down the screen. One line developed and then a 2nd and now a 3rd. How do I fix the screen so the red lines that have turned white go away?

Hey, I've got the same TV, a Pioneer KURO PRO 151FD, I found it a couple weeks ago on a CURB! being thrown away, And I realized on site how special of a TV it was and I brought it home and plugged it in and it turned on and lo! It worked! But after it warmed up, and I turn it off and went to turn it back on, I noticed it had the eight blink issue. So, after doing some research, I found out how common that is and I ordered some of the regulators from eBay They arrived but they were all defective so I try to hack and I wired in an adjustable voltage regulator, I said it to 1.8 volts and I soldered it in to pins two and four and I got the TV to work, But I had the voltage regulator powered by a 5 volt wall wart, So I tried to find a 5 volt source on the IO board and I did, And I soldered a line from a 5 volt source and from a ground point through this adjustable voltage regulator and I thought I was done and I went to test it and now I haven't ate blink problem that won't go away even though the components are receiving 1.8 volts. I'm worried I broke or desoldered some other component and now I'm doing circuit analysis to try and find out what I could have done. And of course the entire world is out of stock of the boards AWW1353 or 1352. So I'm watching all of these videos that have to do with this board and this problem. It sucks because I had it working! Back to the workbench...
Wish me luck because I've been doing this for 2 days straight and will be doing it all day today, too.
I can't give up on this TV.

I don't know what specifically you're asking. The best I can tell you is too carefully remove cabling until you get the board isolated and then remove it. The one thing I can tell you the white connector in the upper left of the board is pretty tough to remove. The one with the bare rigid wires showing. So be careful with that one.

I found a temporary fix. I have my TV and entertainment receiver, and DVD and other peripherals all plugged into a surge protector. The TV must be recognizing that there is too much of a voltage draw on that electrical circuit and giving me the 8 blinking lights. I took a nice fat 8 extension cord and plugged in just the TV into another circuit in another room and the TV works normally again. I will probably buy a new smart TV but for people having similar problem, they might try this temporary fix.

My issue only shows up on changing HDMI Input after being on for a short while or 50/60Hz switches (ie moving from 50hz Pal to 60hz game on HDMI. Box always cold boots perfectly fine. But it's getting too annoying having to put system to standby to let it cool down for a while before switching.

If the TV is unplugged then plugged back in, the red led will come back on with no blinking, but when I try to turn it on from the small on/standby button on the right side of the TV, it will come on for a few seconds, then go back into red LED blinking mode.

Hello, I have the 8 Blue Blinks showing up every time my Signature Elite Pro 141-FD does not receive an HDMI video signal (this model is the monitor version of 151-FD). Otherwise the monitor works fine, as long as it receives a "proper HDMI signal". I want to ask about a few differences and verify that I need to replace the same part. I opened the monitor and found that my ASSY board is "AWW1373" and the voltage regulator has a slightly different code on it:846180 is the same but bellow I have J1 8C instead of J1 5C as in the video. Also the labels around the regulator are different: L5304, R5321, IP4512, IC 5302, couldn't find the IC7951.
The parts I found online seem to correspond to the part code in the video, not the IC7951 but NJM2846DL3-18: www.digikey.com/classic/Ordering/AddPart.aspx
I took a pic of the part and surroundings but I don't know how to paste it here... To me it seems that there is an HDMI negotiation problem between my PC and the monitor, this didn't use to happen until about a few weeks ago. Is there any way I can reset the TV from the service menu and see if this resolves the problem? I am not really sure that I have to change the part because other than stuttering heavily until I get a clear signal the monitor works fine, actually great... Thank you for your videos and tutorials. Dan

+Dan Totan I agree - it looks kind of like an HDMI issue - did you resolve it?

I have a pioneer 6020. My standby light blinks red 15 times. In your video it is only eight. Would this signify a different component that has failed. Appreciate the help as I want to keep this one alive best picture on the market even today.

HI Norcal - found this video, ordered three new regulators, hopefully this will do the trick. Thanks for posting, hope I have the same exact problem that you did.
Question: did you recall what the accompanying orange blink code was? Apparently if you hit "DISPLAY" on the TV's remote, it'll give a bit more information and give a secondary orange blink patern. Mine blinks once on orange. Anyone seen this?

Pieco Did you ever resolve your issue? Did you follow the replacement in this video or go a different route? I have the same single orange blink as the subcode after pressing DISPLAY on the remote. Thanks!

Hi, thanks for this great video! I have a Pioneer Plasma KRP-500P / KRP-M01 (media box) which have started to fail quite frequently with 8 blue blinks. I'm searching information how to repair this tv-set. Have you ever done any similar repair on a KRP-M01?

Can you just replace the entire board the chip sets on? If so what is the part number? I started to try and replace and broke the chip off. IN the process I peeled some the the circuit board with it.....

    • @catfisher420
      @catfisher420 8 лет назад +1

+Ryan Hook YES you can replace the board. The number is printed right on the board! doesn't take a rocket scientist to find it!
