Dang my voice has changed a lot since my early 20's. Anyways, I hope everyone is doing well as we enter 2025. This video is almost 15 years old, and my back hurts lol. To answer a couple of recurring comments: *Aeris or Aerith?* It defaults to Aeris on the NTSC English localized copies of the game, which is what many of us in the NTSC English regions grew up with. This video was made using that version being emulated (as I didn't have any console video capture equipment at the time). With the expansion of the FF7 Universe and the Remake games coming out, her name has been corrected to the intended "Aerith" and is widely acknowledged as being such by the FF7 community and developers. *Why bother avoiding these fights?* Avoiding the fights can give you a small increase with the Aerith date compatibility and save you a bit of time getting through this part. It's not a huge time save, but clearly this video has helped folks and hopefully will continue to do so. If you want to read more about the date mechanics, here's a pretty good write-up: finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Date_mechanics_(Final_Fantasy_VII)#In_Midgar
I'm doing okay! I'll be right there with you, playing the Remake when it comes out! I plan to do an unboxing video of the 1st Class Edition and stream the entire run here on this channel!
The reason that its Aerith in Japan and Aeris every where else is because in Japan, Aerith is pronounced like Aeris but properly spelled with the "th". They just pronounce certain things differently over there.
uh....you know, i think my game might have a glitch in this puzzle. it never gives me the option to push the barrel over, but it still says i can push it over "somehow"
I just went throught this part today in the Nintendo Switch port and was wondering what happened if you moved all barrels correct since I moved all wrong lol So nothing special happens besides not fighting the enemies (and not gaining exp) e.e
The amount of times I have played this game and I have never once got this bit correct! It's annoying too, because you have to battle the Shinra grunts with Aerith, who is so weak at this point in the game! Though it does help if you take her out of the back row.
It helps if you are looking to win points with her (or lose points, if you do it incorrectly) for the date scene in the Gold Saucer. From the FF Fandom wikia: Push a wrong barrel (-3 Aeris) Ask her to fight them (-1 Aeris) Ask her to run (No change) Ask her to run, but she has to fight (-1 Aeris) Push the right barrel (+1 Aeris)
@@YamiTetsuya Certain decisions are affecting of who you're gonna have a date with in Gold Saucer later in game. Google them decisions if you want to know more.
Yep, same. One of the other comments here from 4 years ago says he couldn't push the barrels either. Perhaps it's an issue with the PS4/PC port. I even wasted time reloading my game back to the Reactor #5 boss fight just to do this part over again to see if there was anything I could've done differently, but nope. This video at least shows us where the option is supposed to be though.
I figured out the problem!! You have to follow a particular order of barrels. There is a correct order and an incorrect order, and you have to follow the order exactly in both cases for the option to push the barrel to appear. Very annoying!
Right, I found the order from a guide I've been using, which is the same shown in this video. Tried that first barrel from both sides of it, before Aeris screams for help, and was a no go for me. Or maybe I was on the right side and didn't try it from the left side in time... hmm. Will have to reload that save some time and try again before concluding it is impossible for me.
Use a different guide for sure, one that's adapted for the PS4 port. Oh, also you have to push them after Aeris screams! You have to say, hold on! That's it! You have to tell her to hold on THEN push the correct/ incorrect barrel, following the barrel order.
Thank you for pointing out that you have to choose the "Hold on" option! My guide said to choose "the last option", and in this case that is "RUN!" It definitely worked after telling her to hold on, and I was able to do all three barrels. I love the guide I'm using, but it was definitely wrong here. I also don't like that it mentioned to buy three Titan bangles when Mythril Armlets are a few screens away!
O man your comment at the end about Aerith's name, I'm european and our game's version has had her named Aerith (unlike the fuckup on translation where they called her Aeris) so even as a kid I knew to call her Aerith, but now I bought the game again via steam on pc, and it calls her Aeris at the start... I mean they had years to re-release it on pc and everybody has been talking about the name fuckup for years and now they decided to use the broken version instead of the correct one? Geesh...
First time playing this game. And this part was really dumb. I get the game is a classic. But let's be real, this part was not well designed at all. If you make one mistake you literally either have to watch her die in slow motion. Or you have to restart the entire game only to load up before the boss fight before this. That's just some piss poor game design. No excuse for it really. Atleast not when i'm playing the PS4 version. Had to use those PC cheats only because going trough it all at normal speed again just isn't fun AT ALL.
liked honest game trailers, but always avoided this video. wish I had, lost respect for smash games and won't be watching any more. trying too hard to be funny. oh and also, steam punk world? wtf you smoking, try playing the game before you make a video on it. parody video or not, this is just sad.

7 years later and this video is still helping people! (me) :D
9 (for me). 😁👍
So, what do you accomplish by saying Aeris/Aerith's purity? It must be something special...Riight?
11 for me
ain't that da truth.
12y for me
10 years later and still helpful man, thanks!
Bro wherever you are hope you’re doing good, 10 years later I’m replaying the original one more time before the remake next month 👍.

@@ultradragonyeti looking forward to that!
Thanks! I played this back in 97... I just forgot.
Playing this in 2019
Sencilla Haven’t played in years.. not proud of looking up this part here, but grateful nonetheless. Forever one of my favorites!
Replaying this game again after just finishing Remake lol
Knock the barrels down clockwise starting with the far left barrel. 👍
10 years later, i only watch this to avoid pushing the right barrel
Funny enough I have to refer back to my own video when doing replays of the game

I perfer Aerith
Do they pronounce it Aerisu? There's no single f sound in their language, every consonant goes with a vowel.
@@SorakaOTP462 almost every consonant goes with a vowel lets not forget about "n"

From 1997 still thanks 😊 my guy 👦
Thanks dude! Currently playing this on my iPhone :)

I equiped her the ice materia from Cloud and the enemies were easy xd
2/3 of the video you finally get to the god damn point
Thanks! Watching this in the steam browser as I plat :)
Thanks for the assistance buddy! ;)
@amazo88 You can avoid a couple of fights with Aeris alone (she's pretty weak since you just get her) but it's up to you.
Lol I think I messed up? I dropped the wrong barrel and now am stuck with Aeries with no moves besides healing wind so I can’t do damage
Playing this in 2020!
I have to ask, do you earn anything for the barrel kills? Otherwise it's just better to let her fight the enemies with 1 damage and earn XP.
It helps if you are looking to win points with her (or lose points, if you do it incorrectly) for the date scene in the Gold Saucer. From the FF Fandom wikia:

@@omgabaddon Yeah, you can date Aerith, Tifa, I think Yuffie and definitely Barret, since dating him is a trophy on the PS4 port of the original FF7

How does it affect the date? O.o?

if u do it correct u can date her later

To everyone: It's Aerith, not Aeris. You don't say "Sepiros", now do you?
Anyway, thanks for the help man, I always mess up this part :P
The English version is spelled Aeris.
What does Sephiroth's name have to do with anything anyway?
also her name is AeriS. Aerith lisp version is not cool.
