    I read the manual and watched 3 other videos before finding this and learning that when you put the head back together lining up the holes is vital. I could not get it to feed through to the other side at all. After lining up the head correctly it feed through first try.

  • @maggiemay97
    @maggiemay97 3 года назад +2

    I always have to feed my line in several times before it comes out the other side. It goes in smoothly but just keeps going and going but doesn’t come out. Eventually I get it right and can wind the string in. My big problem is I only get to use it a few minutes and the line doesn’t feed anymore and stays about an inch and a half long. I open it up and it appears the line that should be feeding has somehow gotten caught under a couple of other rows of line that should feed later. I have to remove it all and load it again. It’s very annoying. This machine was way too expensive to be such a pain in the butt.

      @@MervsServiceSecrets yes. It’s been happening right from the start. Even with the line it was already loaded with when I bought the trimmer. I love the mower, but this trimmer is killing me. It’s such a disappointment. I’m an older lady and don’t have hands like the jolly green giant. I have to use a screw driver to pop the cap off and it’s really hard for me to turn it to wind the line in after I thread it through. I wish I had known there was a power loader when I bought it. I would have gotten one of that model.

    I am so happy I found this video! Every other powerload video makes it look like you just feed the line in, no big deal. But mine got twisted around just like you showed on the video, so I was able to solve it. You are the best. Not only that, but until I watched this, I didn't even know I was supposed to have a spring in there. I had taken mine apart to see why the line wouldn't load, and inadvertently knocked the spring out (which of course sprung away). As soon as I saw this video (again, NONE of the others were the least bit helpful), I realized I needed to go find that spring. I am back in business, thanks to you, Merv. I am now subscribed.

    Merv, thank you for the tutorial. I am having a problem with my non power loading ego weed wacker and EGO hasn't answered my question. Can you give me an opinion? I wound the string clockwise (apparently, my ego allows counter and clock wise winding) and the string would not advance. We pulled the string out and have not been able to get it to refill. Mine is a manual deal which is very hard on the hands and the wrists. I am also not being able to push those tabs in to release the head and look inside since I did that clockwise wind. Have I irreparably broken this tool? Any advice would be appreciated.

    • @MervsServiceSecrets
      @MervsServiceSecrets  4 года назад

      Well, I'm just speculating here, but I do know centrifugal force is important in order for most trimmers to release string properly, so having the trimmer zooming at maximum speed might be helpful. Also, I know quite a few people have reported that they lost the spring from inside the trimmer head. It's easy for a spring like mine to bounce away unnoticed because it is dark in color. Maybe that happened to you and you don't even know it. Finally, the problem with your cap being stuck on. Makes me think maybe the edge of the string got wedged in there so it's jammed on tight and hard to get off now. Oh! And one more thing.. I joke around a lot about wearing "grippy" gloves because they give me super human strength ... but that's really not far from the truth. If you have a good pair of rubberized gloves you'd be surprised at how that can improved your gripping strength and maybe help you turn off that cover cap. And if you don't have official rubber work gloves, a pair of those dishwashing gloves might help. Just a lot of guessing on my part, but I hope this helps. -Merv Himself
