The store owner was speaking with me but I had a hard time understanding him. We had a lot of fun that day. I bought mostly chocolates because I knew what they were. 🤭 I was trying to recite some of the things my grandmother would say in Polish but was not doing a very good job of it. LOVE the Polish lesson!! I am half Polish on my Mom's side and always wanted to learn the language. My maternal grandmother lived with us from my age 5 til about 15. I was able to pick up a few words in Polish from my Busha. She was a great (true) story teller about her years in Poland and when she came to this country at age 15. I can not even imagine....coming to the US on a ship after her father saved for years to book her passage here. The only person she knew here was her older sister which her father sent first years before my grandmother. Anyway...I appreciate learning the Polish word for lipstick....Hugs to Louie and your hair looks awesome!!

'Ageing gracefully' has always just meant growing old with class to me - ie continuing to care about how you look, maintaining an interest in how you dress etc. How that's achieved is down to the individual entirely. I'd say the opposite is 'giving up' rather than 'growing old disgracefully' (which to me implies something else entirely but is also a valid choice for some!).
I too have always disliked that term “growing old gracefully “ since everyone that used it prided themselves on “all natural and never using any makeup “ … and seemed to be superior looking with disdain at any woman who did like or use beauty products and or makeup.. 😂. Especially from the younger generation that loves looking “natural “ .. give them a few years 😅

So pleased Louis is okay now. I often think our lives are 'similar' and I identify with you so much. I have a ten year old Shih tzu/Pekingese cross he's called Bob and he's very precious to me. He recently had an operation on his bottom, because he had big 'ulcers' -a sample was sent away to check for cancer -thankfully we got the all clear ❤ I live in Malta, but was born in Manchester, England. We have a superb vet who's actually Polish 😊She"s wonderful ❤ I married my Maltese husband 37 years ago, on 11th April. So, I know how it is when you move to a new Country. I was 22 and it wasn"t always easy. Anyway, when I go back to England to visit family, and book 'taxis', it's such a 'palaver' to make them understand my surname that I now just say Christine Jones/Scott/Smith...whatever I feel like. I have sung professionally in many languages and find Polish to be THE most difficult as there are so few vowels. Phonation ( singing) happens on the vowels with consonants thrown in to make sense! Hours of study to sound good with my Polish, so bravo to those that have mastered it! The concept of growing gracefully has roots in the Bible, where women are encouraged to embrace the season of maturity and wisdom; as opposed to the fleeting beauty and immaturity ( foolishness) of youth. Age was not looked down upon, but honored and cherished, respected and considered a blessing. Culture has morphed it to be worship of youth and disrespect of aging. How sad, with all the diversity being encouraged we need to include celebrating each birthday as a jewel in your crown ❤️
Now I want to make chocolate chip cookies! So glad Louie is doing so much better! My family is Polish and grew up in a town with many Polish people. My mother would take us to the last mass on Sunday which was said in Polish. We didn't understand a word of what was being said! Now I'd love to hear mass in Polish. My high school offered Polish as a foreign language but I took Spanish. Polish words can be hard to pronounce so thank you for the lesson and please keep them coming!!!

When baking cookies, after everything is mixed, wait I hour before putting on the trays. The flour needs to absorb what little moisture is in the eggs and vanilla. U can add 2 tablespoons of cornstarch as well. Stops spreading and results in soft centers and crispy edges. I recommend putting dough in refrigerator while waiting, MAKE IT COLD , BAKE IT HOT. “Martha Stewart “

I take aging gracefully to mean you are among the lucky ones who look good longer than most no matter what you do to slow the aging process. Simply put, you’re lucky enough to have good genes. And you look good with age on you. I’ve never taken it to mean anything negative.

I have sung professionally in many languages and find Polish to be THE most difficult as there are so few vowels. Phonation ( singing) happens on the vowels with consonants thrown in to make sense! Hours of study to sound good with my Polish, so bravo to those that have mastered it!
The concept of growing gracefully has roots in the Bible, where women are encouraged to embrace the season of maturity and wisdom; as opposed to the fleeting beauty and immaturity ( foolishness) of youth. Age was not looked down upon, but honored and cherished, respected and considered a blessing. Culture has morphed it to be worship of youth and disrespect of aging. How sad, with all the diversity being encouraged we need to include celebrating each birthday as a jewel in your crown ❤️

Now I want to make chocolate chip cookies! So glad Louie is doing so much better! My family is Polish and grew up in a town with many Polish people. My mother would take us to the last mass on Sunday which was said in Polish. We didn't understand a word of what was being said! Now I'd love to hear mass in Polish. My high school offered Polish as a foreign language but I took Spanish. Polish words can be hard to pronounce so thank you for the lesson and please keep them coming!!!

When baking cookies, after everything is mixed, wait I hour before putting on the trays. The flour needs to absorb what little moisture is in the eggs and vanilla. U can add 2 tablespoons of cornstarch as well. Stops spreading and results in soft centers and crispy edges. I recommend putting dough in refrigerator while waiting, MAKE IT COLD , BAKE IT HOT. “Martha Stewart “

I take aging gracefully to mean you are among the lucky ones who look good longer than most no matter what you do to slow the aging process. Simply put, you’re lucky enough to have good genes. And you look good with age on you. I’ve never taken it to mean anything negative.
