Abdrazakov is so attractive and cool and I love his voice, and he is such an actor. But please, excuse me, but for him too, it would be nice to save some money in such an expensive production to pay a language coach ! I watched a part of this production on CLASSICA today, and could not understand a word, and I am French. Except in the case of Beczala, who is better than his partners, though. It's strange to see such an outrageously modern production with singers singing in such an oldfashioned way, full throttle and standing straight facing the public. They decided that Gounod's opera was completely ridiculous and should be considered grotesque, and it's a pity. I loved the production with Kaufmann and Pape. I love Abdrazakov, I like Beczala, but I must say I have not found out yet why Maria Agresta is having such a career. She does not convey any emotion whatsoever, does not act, and if she sings well, she sings like a robot. The jewel song is just boring. It's supposed to be about sex. Not standing delivering the notes while munching the words.
