      It then says God saves her on reply, so that is the actual ending. She climbs the white staircase as a symbol of her soul going to heaven...

    One of my favourite arias and very well sung. Who are the singers?

  • @brucehersey4404
    @brucehersey4404 5 лет назад +5

    Superlative singing, but who is the Soprano? Curious presentation, and yet, it works for me... would very much like to see more of this... only then would it be possible to make a fair judgement.
    And let's be honest... so many "modernistic" takes on 19th Century Operas are, in general, way off the mark... the Librettists & Composers that created them must be cringing in their heaven or hell!
    But, very occasionally, the most way-out production can actually bring fresh perspective to a familiar piece... doesn't seem to happen too often!
    Hope to see the full Metropolitan Opera "Faust" posted soon....

    Jonas Kaufmann, cariñito, Esta maravillosa escena, la tengo también, en, mi gran CD, Morir por, la opera, por, un, gran tenor, que, ya está, retirado, Francisco Araiza, respecto a, la, soprano, no, existe, no canta, desafina y, destruye, la, armonía, es, la misma, mediocre soprano, que, en, el, metropolitan Opera House, este, Rol, es, de mezzo, no, de, soprano, respecto al, horrible, montaje, mata la esencia romántica de Fausto.!!!

  • @WelahHomo87

    Kauffman and that schreechy soprano are awful. Kaifmann keeps darkening his voice and it doesn't suit him at all. Opera is just awful now, which is sad. Faust ends with the chorale not him collapsing in the floor as an old man. What the hell is wrong with these stage directors

    • @Treebard
      @Treebard 3 месяца назад

      I agree the soprano isn't the best singer although her acting is great. But I love the ending - my interpretation is that Faust finally accepts his own mortality. Even though he poisons himself, he is released from his pact with the devil and is saved spiritually.
