    the burden needs to be on the producer. If your packaging cant be recycled or degraded in a sustainable way then you should not be allowed to produce it. There is so much unnecessary plastic waste and most of it is not recyclable however much the companies tell you its up to you to do it. Gov should also upgrade waste incinerators so that they emit less toxic fumes

      Tax the producers of plastic packaging. The market then has greater inpetus to find alternatives

      Actually 96% of the visible smoke is water vapour while 3% is co2 and less 1% is other gasses.

      I work at a waste incinerator and we release around
      10% co2
      20% H2o
      And the rest 70% is depending on whatever we are burning
      270 mg per cubic So2 for example

    These incinerator are ingenious. They produce low emissions of h20 and C02. Landfill need to be avoided at all cost. This is not a race issue this is a human impact on the earth issue.

    Thanks for putting out positive news about intelligent, happy people doing things that are worthwhile. It makes a big difference to how other people think about the future. ❤️

  • @jonusjonus9271

    The location of this incinerator is not really near the majority "low income" population of Baltimore. On one side you certainly have a run down part of town but few people even live there (it's mostly boarded up houses). On the other side is the more affluent and far more populated inner harbor area. Far more people actually live there so this claim while technically true is mislead, at least in the Baltimore example.

    Huge, nationwide problem. I think there are small groups involved in figuring it out, but small, local efforts aren't going to get it done. Generally no one's even aware of how trash disposal works. People think that you put it in the bins and it disappears. It doesn't.

    • @JustDinosaurBones
      @JustDinosaurBones 3 года назад

      Small, local efforts are the only way things ever get done. It's only after enough grassroots effort that things get going.

    After it burnt its gone forever! Recycling some will give for the future. In time old dumps will be mined for the waste.

  • @chrisgrace9604
    @chrisgrace9604 Год назад

    No mention of bioaccumulation of pesticides in the compost which will be ingested, but with only 25lbs of waste collected each week, as long as not too many people eat the three carrots this will grow, shouldn't be too much of a problem.

  • @Randomguy2341

    I would like to say regulate corporations on there dispensing materials but honestly recycling in the USA is just sub par. 1 it cost money to do so in a lot of places and 2 it’s not specific enough. Some first world countries have 2-3 different recycling bins.

    • @felixndayisdebologne9725
      @felixndayisdebologne9725 3 года назад

      Here in Bologna we have five bins . We have also a smart card to access the disposal sites. If you don't differenciate correctly , you can get a fine . 90% of our detrituses are recycled.

    Baltimore citizens should take personal responsibility first and clean up their neighborhoods and stop throwing trash on the ground and then act like it’s someone else’s job to pick it up. It starts with the individual, you can’t expect others to care about your area if you don’t.

    The only other option they have given us is to send our trash to a landfill. We need a much more robust recycling program, and we need to ban all non-recyclable packaging in Baltimore.

    We talk about this every year... why because we are a throw away society in a plastic age, and guess who benefits from that plastic... oil companies, and this is why plastic will continue to be produced because it is needed just as much as fuel in the food packing industry... everyone needs food, everyone needs fuel so the only thing to do is deal with the root of the problem.
