Out of everyone in that room, Chloe is the only real leader. Many have reached leadership positions because of popularity and are accomplished but everyone was fighting to add something else to their resume. Chloe has natural leadership qualities with an actual desire to solve these issues. That is what I saw from this video. Leaders don't argue around a table, they listen, think and come up with a sound solution even if it isn't a popular opinion.

Chloe Brown off the bat is the best candidate. You have "leaders" talking over one another and then their solution is to make another leader (federal or provincial) foot the bill. How can you call yourself a Leader and base your campaign on the hopes someone else will be willing to work with you. Chloe Brown meanwhile listened, responded correctly and was respectful enough to wait her turn. Many may see waiting as a weakness and not a leader, but by actually listening to the issues she comes up with great solutions.

It's telling that she's the only person here who's really able and willing to speak in simple, direct language about HOW she would implement the policies that she's proposing. The whole establishment of this city is afraid of her and it shows.

Maybe. She won't do well until Canadians step up. It's not like the states. I lived in both countries. Obama raised by a single white mom. Went to Havard became senator ten president. AOC university background but working as a part time bartender. Cinderella stories. In Canada. Do ppl not notice that most of their MPs or politician attended private schools and came from a wealthy family. Tory had connections to Rogers. Olivia Chow to Layton. Trudeau to his dad. Ford and his family. Not all but the ones that tend to make decisions tend to. Nepotism and connection is awful in Canada political scene.
Everyone is saying Chloe Brown. So why isn't she polling? Who's doing these polls? Where are they polling from? I was never asked to poll? And I'm middle class. So the media is already setting up their top 6. And they constantly put Olivia as number 1. Let's be honest. Does anyone here believes Olivia Chow won't win? Ps: these votes should be done public like the American Election. As in we get to see who every division voted for in live. Cause 'im pretty sure 41 division would select Mitzie or Chloe. I'm sure 51 would vote Brad. Downtown is a split between mark ana and Olivia.

People use infrastructure as provided. if you dont have sidewalks, people will be forced to drive for a coffee 200 meters away. If you dump snow in bike lanes and not maintain them, people will be forced not not bike. Finland is 3x colder and they bike all year comfortably. Bike lanes are not expensive to just not dump snow in them and maintain them like a sidewalk. Also its not like we had lots of snow last winter. whats next? Lets not maintain sidewalks because people don’t like walking in cold? I used to wear the warmest clothes waiting for a bus for 10 mins and still almost froze in winter. But when I was biking, after 3 mins I would feel warm ,and a simple thick hoodie was enough. staying stationary feels a lot colder than when your body is moving + I was never depressed in winter 👌 All you need is a good neck scarf, gloves, warm socks. The rest of your outfit can be your fall clothes.

I say they all get a job!
Would be interesting if all the candidates made up a Senior Leadership Team at the city, each handling their own specialized portfolio based on an agreeable budget.
    Bilao - Transportation
    Hunter - Social Services
    Brown - Community engagement
    Saunders - Public Safety
    Matlow - Finances
    Bradford - City Services
I think they all bring interesting ideas based on their individual expertise. They are valued more as collective.

Affordable housing, public safety really go hand in hand. All you have to do is examine the TCHC system. It’s a complete disaster. They built huge ghettos that lead to the gangs that are shooting up Toronto streets. And the much lauded redevelopment projects are completely ignoring the regressive social environment the govt created in the first place. In my area, Atkinson coop has been a shooting gallery for as long as I can remember and not one resident is moving out. Same ghetto, same gangs. The city is giving away hundreds of millions of dollars of public land to rebuild these disasters. So I really wonder who in the world is voting for Olivia Chow because when she talks about affordable housing she’s talking about building more of these ghettos. Unbelievable. She is completely devoid of any ideas when it comes to affordable market housing.

When it comes to business too many are compromised and they are part of the problems instead of solutions....ppl who can make changes always know what is going on but because others have secrets on them and they can be bribed by greed nothing is done

    • @kevinn1158
      @kevinn1158 Год назад

@@msmichelle2196 in the end, it’s all about the selling price. Affordability is relative to people’s wages and for 20 yrs home prices and wages have been diverging. And all this time, the downtown councillors have been happy to contribute to the accelerating prices by charging huge development fees, land transfer taxes and drag out development proposals for yrs and yrs. And most of the worst offenders have been Adam Vaughan, Joe Cressy, Olivia Chow and I’m sure Malik.
Olivia will never make market housing affordable. The 25000 units she’s referring to will be public housing and that means much higher taxes for homeowners.
Unfortunately, Olivia went to the socialist school of economics. Govt housing became their go to solution for the downtown councillors and NDP.
Govts never build anything competitively. They always overpay for everything. They rent the units at a level that isn’t sustainable massively under the costs of maintaining the units. Most public housing developments are far too dense which has resulted in the gangs. It’s the formula for gangs. The residents just don’t care. They think oh if I destroy something I can bitch to my councillor and they will fix it. Even if their kid is arrested for a violent crime there’s no consequences.
The worst part of this is the councillors like Olivia, love their pet project TCHC. It’s their baby and the residents are their voting base. And why not? They are getting homes people making a lot more could never afford.

Every one of these candidates that says they want to deal with housing and affordability can’t do a damn thing about it in real life because these issues are way bigger than what a city mayor can possibly deal with. They know life is hard for people so they use these two lines to grab attention, but in reality they won’t be able to make any changes. Chow’s plan to build affordable housing will end up being another never ending disaster that city will overspend and nothing will get done for the next 5 years.

This is all caused by special interest group. it is ridiculous to make housing price sky high, most of those candidates has multi housing. so they want to house price keep goes up. in order to keep housing affordable, it needs to following Texas, US to increase property tax to increase cost for holding multi house and meanwhile increase supply and reduce number of immigration, make all level government accountability.

Everybody needs to understand one thing. Public housing doesn’t follow any economic considerations. When somebody shops for a home all sorts of things impact price. Location, size the wages of the people buying….
In downtown Toronto just west of Spadina and Queen st hundreds of townhouses costing millions to build are being built for public housing. The people moving in will be paying a tiny fraction of the market rent and their won’t even cover the maintenance of those units. The city gave away hundreds of millions of dollars of public land to pay for this but the councillors will say it’s not costing the tax payer anything. That’s Olivia’s economics. It’s frightening. We need public housing to fit into the reality of the economic constraints facing everybody. Not having a select few getting 2 million dollar townhouses for next to nothing.
