These issues are not just IU issues, they have been there all year, but it all come together in the IU game. I remember talking about how horrible the defense was playing against Northern Iowa.. Getting beat to the corners (step slow), horrible tackling, allowing yards after contact. This didn't just show up in this game. The reason nobody took notice was because we were winning. Nobody takes notice until a loss.
When he builds it how he does for sure. If you’d rather have 30 transfers out and 30 in every other year but go 10-2 then 2-10 like Florida St and it could turn toxic
That's the average, but coaches will vary quite a bit. At the college level, Rhule is an established "3-year guru", which is what he was hired to be. His pattern at Nebraska so far seems to be fitting what he did at Temple and Baylor. His first year, the team tends to play at about the same level as they did before, as Rhule "gets a feel" for that specific program and starts recruiting players there. The second year, the team improves noticeably, but isn't any sort of powerhouse. At this point in the season, this year's Nebraska team is probably two games ahead of where last year's team would have been in the same situation. I expect that the Huskers will have another nightmare loss against Ohio State, then win 2-3 more games down the stretch and play in a forget-a-Bowl at the end of the season. It's in the third year that Rhule really makes his mark. It was his third year at Temple that the team jumped to 10 wins, after winning just 2 games in his first year and 6 in his second. Baylor followed a similar pattern: 1-11, then 7-6, then 11-3. Unlike the previous schools, Nebraska wasn't as far gone, hence the 5-7 first season last year. I wouldn't be surprised to see Nebraska finish with 7-8 wins this year. If Rhule hasn't got the Huskers into 10+ win territory next year, that's the time to start worrying...
@@DamonNomad82 I would argue we haven’t improved on the inside other than literally at QB. And our offensive stats are almost the same. That’s worrisome. The offense and special teams are not at a high enough level for the coaches you face in this league. Both are a minus and defense is the only plus. Development will help but the scheme and play calling is awful and nothing about Satterfield’s past makes me think it will ever improve
Other problems were gap discipline on Defense, not jamming receivers on the line, and countering their RPOs by putting a Spy on their QB WHILE jamming their receivers.
Nebraska coming off a bye week were so over matched and under prepared it was absolutely ridiculous..completely out coached and out played.. and oh did i mention, that is coming off a bye week!!! Very alarming!!
Im an IU fan, and im not here to boast or anything. I've listened to you sit there and try to figure out what's wrong with this Nebraska football team. My absolute total opinion is simply coaching. IU' s players have bought in and have accepted that the coach is the Captain of the ship and the players refuse to drown. This team is full of respect for the TOTAL coaching staff. Im not saying that a team needs to be run like the military, but it's up to the coaching staff to have their players mind set as to whether they want to sink or swim. Nebraska is not as bad a team as to what showed up at this game. Nebraska will make a bowl this year. But, coaching has to change their mind set to change the same for the players. It has to be family and they played like a bunch of strangers. Also, I would add is keep your quarterback in the pocket. That means your quarterback is going to have to trust his front line.
With all due respect, Indiana fans didn’t even know what a football was until two weeks ago so this comes across as an obnoxious comment trying to lecture former players about what’s wrong with the team and how to fix the program. We’ve been shoulders deep in this crap for 20+ years, there’s no suggestion you can make on the fly that’s going to be some deep insight. Congrats on the win and the new trajectory of the program, but stay in your lane
They had by far the more talented team in Indiana! They may only lose one game this year! Stop thinking it’s a bad Indiana team! They are much much better than us and more talented! Even if we played better we still would have lost by 21!
Go watch the explosive, fast, tough, agile and strong running backs for Central Florida. They see a hole, blast through, hit the jets and dance in the end zone. Our guys did not break a single tackle
99.9% of the time, rebuilding a football program takes time. The other 0.1% of the time, a team will win the "Head Coach Lottery" and get an instant winner. In 1962, Nebraska was an instant winner with Bob Devaney, who took a team that had gone 15-34-1 over the previous five seasons and hadn't been better than 4-6 in any one of those seasons and immediately got the Huskers to a 9-2 record and their first bowl victory, kicking off the most successful 40-year run in college football history. This year, Indiana appears to have found this generation's "Bob Devaney". They may have a hard time holding onto him, though, as Florida State is likely to throw everything AND the kitchen sink at getting him to go to Tallahassee...
If it's true that mini mahomes spent time with a personal coach instead of spending the time with the team I think that's something we can point at that needs to change. I don't think he's that hot of shit that he needs a personal coach, our coaches aren't good enough for him? I mean clearly they aren't if we're being honest but it just goes to show he's not the kid for this school.
OU and Utah just fired their OC... in the middle of the season. No disrespect, but you guys are wrong when it comes to firing coaches that are not getting it done. Schools are doing it! NU need to get rid of some to set a tone. WE WILL NOT ACCEPT THIS ANY LONGER! Demand everyone to step up!
This doesn’t excuse Nebraska. That was unacceptable. This isn’t sour grapes. I wish Indiana well. But the fact is the Indiana Hoosiers are a one hit wonder. They brought JMU’s coach and roster in. They are senior laden and those guys know Cignetti’s culture and scheme. Next year they will be gone and he will be forced to try and win with freshman, transfers who don’t know his schemes, and the guys who were there before he got there that couldn’t win. They will suck and it will be over. Don’t let that eye candy distract from how unsustainable it is. Rhule has work to do, but having freshman is better than burrowing JMU’s team for one year.
They had their second and third stringers still whooping us when they put them in the THIRD QUARTER. Most other b10 teams kept it competitive until the 4th. We got embarrassed and looked like an FCS team. Absolutely pathetic by Rhule and staff
The arrogance of Nebraska fans… “We were supposed to win because they’re Indiana” Listing stats of Indiana’s past as why Indiana should never win this game. Completely ignoring how good Indiana has been THIS season, under these coaches. Think the players didn’t do the same? Oops, They out played Nebraska in every faze of the Game, 5 rushing Touchdowns, 495 yards, and it wasn't a Fluke, Indiana average 47.5 points, gives up 13.8, you gave Indiana 0 respect, 56-7 and The only excuse, you lost to a Better Team.
Foley needs to go back to his van down by the river. Rhule needs to decide where his loyalty's lie. His employer and players, or his buddies. Satt sucks, and his WR coach does not have his permanent teeth yet! This is business.
I can explain it. Nebraska was never that good to begin with. They just finally played a real team to prove it. Next game is already over. Nebraska will be 5-3 soon.
Guys. I enjoy your podcast but your head's in the sand. This has been showing up all year. It may have only showed up in half a game or a quarter in some, but the ineptness has been there. Btw, Purdue and Rutgers stink and to think we played them tight till the end of the game is a feather in our cap is fooling yourself. They're bad teams. We're not that good. Remember, we had a good half against Colorado and a poor second half. We looked average against those other non-conference teams, Northern Iowa and UTEP and they suck. So coaching, play calling and execution has been average at best all season.
Ruhle gave his guys off 4 days in the by week.
IU head coach was asked what he did in the by week he replied balls to the wall…
I'm holding out judgement until the end of the season.
Indiana's receivers never "got open" - they were open for the first 10 yards of their routes and their routes were only 6 yards long.
Da Club was closed for renovations. The health department shut down the gourmet grill. Uber surge pricing was at an all time high.
You guys KNOW what Husker Fandom is thinking! Thanks for the therapy session and helping us work through it!!

We noticed in Illinois loss
Indiana took the 2 weeks to learn and exploit the gaps in Nebraskas defense and which O linemen to attack
There coach is a great coach and wins everywhere. James Madison beat North Carolina 70-50 this year! Their coach has a big eye for talent!
I can explain it: Turnovers - including an especially momentum shifting one in the red zone.
Have been microdosing lately and it's really helped mellow Me out quite a bit 👍
Weve kind if been lead to believe it takes 4-5 years to get a program going.

Took 6 months to turn IU around
I think the scariest thing from this game is that we saw a new low. Now we have the threat that this new low that can pop up on any week.
Other problems were gap discipline on Defense, not jamming receivers on the line, and countering their RPOs by putting a Spy on their QB WHILE jamming their receivers.
A lot of NFL players on Indiana!

There is a chance we could go 0-3 bye week to the next bye week. We still have a chance to go 5-7...
I could tell before the game that we weren't ready to play...Kick EVERYONE out the club!!!
Get out! You are all out the club! You don’t have to go home, but you can’t stay here!
Hate to say it but this is probably the best thing that could have happened. Now we find out what this team is truly made of.
Losing…especially losing badly…is definitely not the best thing that could’ve happened.
Mike Riley career 500 guy... Matt rhule also career 500 guy😂😂😂😂😂
I understand not normalizing not kicking 30 yarders but how would you feel if we missed that
the backs aren't helping the receivers when they can't read a block nor setup a block. that leads to quite a few block in he back penalties.
