I remember when this game came out and had gotten so much positive praise. I barely used my wii outside of Smash Bros, but this was one of those games I'm still interested in going back for. Nice to hear that its held up and that its not as short as I inagined. Glad you mentioned the DS game, which was a prequel if I remember right. I used to use Ameterasu in Marvel vs Capcom 3. Shame that for such a cool game that it didn't evolve into a bigger franchise. Inwonder if it was because its gimmick was too closely tied to the Wii controls.
Yeah I do think that a big reason for Okami's lack of a franchise is due to its control and the uncertainty of how that could translate to modern hardware. Although it did work wonderfully on my PS4, and I could see a sequel working really well on something like the Nintendo Switch.
I played it first in 2006 as a teen on ps2, later i rebought it for ps2 in 2014 replayed the whole thing. Then again the HD remaster for PS4 in 2020, Amzaing game. 6:42 The joke is on you, because the paintings is what you drew on Ammy's mask in Orochi's cave. Also the dress makes Sakuya's butt look like a peach.

Okamiden is a sequel, while also heavily altering the context of the first game through time travel.

Okamiden sounds interesting and I'd love to get around to it eventually. Especially as it looks like it might be the only Okami content we ever get.

Oh yeah, I think I did get a little naughty with Ammy's mask.
Didn't know there was a PC port. Gonna have to get that.

I thought OkamiDen was the sequel
From what I understand okamiden is more of a spiritual successor than an actual sequel. I haven't played it myself though so I can't say for certain.
