When I first heard her, I was frozen in time. My heart stopped, and I held my breath. I've appreciated opera for 55 years...I never heard anything like her..a true coloratura. What a great gift she shares..I never said it out loud , yes the stage is sacred.
I would agree. Horne was the mezzo-soprano blueprint ( as was Grace Bumbry, to a lesser degree). She was the teacher, and Bartoli was the student: the student eclipsed the teacher, fine-tuned and perfected the gift.
It's good to keep the head back and go forward, but it's better to keep intact the spirit of those times, and compose new music, because this great controversy happens in our days, we fancy ourselves "progressive", but what has worth and value and what people of all classes STILL consider of any worth is what WAS, not what we have - that is only for a few who seem to "need" and "enjoy" it, not for all!!!.....So, in Truth, we live in the most regressive age of any time in history, ever - if they decided to ban the old, it will be with violence, not from the will of the people, who keep on going back there, because nothing in the present convinces.....✝️
Bullcrap! Heard her live and was sitting at the end of the opera house and could hear her perfectly. It’s a medium-sized voice-not small, not big. Bel Canto singers aren’t meant to have enormous voices to fill up huge venues like the Met. This is why today there exists a huge number of singers who ruin their voices by trying to sing too loud to fill up these stupidly big venues.
Our heroine! Our trailblazer! Our risk taker! The rebellious librarian! The queen! The sorceress! The one.

we LOVE Cecilia
La cosa che più mi commuove è vedere e sentire tante persone unite da una passione . Mi fa pensare che c'è del buono nel mondo 😊
Beautiful story of love. Parents are the best teachers
absolutely love her
In my humble opinion Cecelia has the most glorious voice God ever created.

Vivat and Cheers for Mrs Cecilia Bartoli !
Happy Birthday Cecilia !
Amo a Cecilia!
Fabulous!
Nice !👍🎶🎭🕊🌿
Grande 👏
She is THE CONSUMMATE mezzo soprano. I would even put her above Marilyn Horne and that's saying a lot.

She can agitata my due venti whenever she wants. Absolute G.O.A.T. Of the mezzo range and especially the works of Rossini. We bow to you goddess. 🙏🏼
❤❤❤
❤
She's also been playing soprano rolls and sang soprano arias. I believe she can sing all vocal ranges.
la mia musa
Anyone know the name of the aria that Bartoli is singing as she's playing the piano at 3:09?
Una voce poco fa by Rossini

?
A "legendary" artist solely through her albums, she barely sung in any of the important venues because her voice is very small, like a mosquito
not true. I heard her live; no mosquito there
She sang at the Met 3 seasons. She cud be heard easily. I saw all three productions.
LOL greeneyed monster of jealousy speaking I bet

Heard her sing live twice, she has a great, sensitive instrument. Could hear her up in the gods. Sorry about your list of venues mate. :'(
