I've always loved this franchise since it began. Can't really rank them as, to me, they all seem so different, yet the same, it's weird. But that's how I perceive them. (I will the newest seems a tad silly over the others and not a fan of that direction either). If they keep going that way I might finally dislike one for real lol. I guess if I had to choose a favorite it would be the 1st Godzilla one and Skull Island. nice list
While the quality varies, it certainly is an interesting world they created

GxK and Godzilla 2014 are the only movies that have clear direction and follow through with their respective tones.
KotM lacks identity and that's the biggest issue people have of it.
GxK, for instance, lets the monsters take over the storytelling often while the action sequences are fully visible and never interrupted by human plot points.
Godzilla 2014 is a consistent natural disaster film that utilizes build up as it's tool until all the monster action unfolds at the very end.
KotM lets the human story interrupt the monster fights at unnecessary times while while script is all over the place in regards to handling the intensity of the Monsters' existence.

I really have to binge these again. I find myself going back to king of the monsters!! They do get cheesy as they go on. Dumb fun I guess!!

Well, that already happened in the Showa era. AND THAT'S EXACTLY WHY THE MONSTERVERSE SUCKS NOW. It just became straight-up and downright like the Showa era. Not only in terms of tone but also in terms of quality standards, production value and writing level as well.

Honestly i only like my number one, never being a kiju fan and this universe hasn't done anything to change that
