- Ryan Suter still SUCKS, but now the Refs do as well, and this is not a podcast of complaining; it is just stating the facts about the history of the refs behind the terrible calls in the Wild vs. Stars Game 4. As expected, the Minnesota Wild and Dallas Stars had another heated game in this NHL Stanley Cup playoffs. However, what was not expected was the absolutely horrific calls made by the refs on both sides of the ice that had a massive impact on the game's outcome. But do not worry; we are not here only to discuss the officials from the game. We dive into the many chances the Wild had to walk away with a 3-1 lead in the series. Kirill Kaprizov had multiple scoring chances that he could not bury in the back of the net. Gus the Bus was Outstanding. The Stanley Cup Playoffs do not disappoint!

Game 3 for edmonton and L.A was the worst officiating ive seen all playoffs
That series has been quite a ride to watch as well!
Wild fan here. Calls suck, but we cannot expect to win a series giving up nearly 50% on the PK
Agree 100%, our PK has to change something. And our PP needs to capitalize on chances we are given.
It’s pretty bad for sure, good coverage, stars fan here. Just hope the refs can get it together. Can’t keep missing or ghost calling penalties. I’m so glad you mentioned the start times, getting the west coast time slot is horrible. No central time slot tells us all we need to know of what the NHL thinks about central teams.
💯 east coast bias
I was thinking in game one, WOW Dallas fans must be pissed lol! It just sucks that everyone (outside our division) thought this series was going to suck, yet its probably up there for one of the best series right now. You hate to see these games get swayed by refs. Dallas should probably have won game 1 and Wild should have probably won game 4, the series would probably be tied regardless but I dont want the narrative to be terrible officiating, not fair for either team
Agreed. Hopefully officials do their jobs well tonight and no one has to mention them. Gonna be a fun Game 5!
It's not that they call BS penalties, they called them for the most impact!!! They officiate the score not the game!!!
Exactly, and terrible timed bad calls even when both teams were playing disciplined…
It happens to all the teams they have some of the worst Refs in the NHL they only call only what they want to call.😤
Very annoying when that happens for sure… always seems like not ideal time in the game as well
Now we’re down 2-3 in the series
Time to win in St. Paul
That was a fucking embarrassment of officiating last night
Def not ideal for either team throughout the series. Dallas has just done a better job at getting the calls in more important situation, and capitalizing.
DONT EFFING PUT FLUERY BACK IN, JESUS
Would def think we see Gus back in net for Game 5.
Felt like someone in New York wanted to extend the series.
Hmmm… good for business I guess haha
Wild have to go high blocker side! Ottenger has been weak there his whole career! You know it, exploit it! Dallas lost plenty in OT Shoot Outs...when Ottenger was the netminder.
Pride of Lakeville is quite impressive in net, hard to beat anywhere. Hopefully they can crack the code 🔥
Is it a problem or is it planned? Honest question.
Hard hitting question right there… more games, more money, but who knows. Putting bad refs out in important games is def not ideal.
97 is definitely playing hurt, my observation as well. The cross checks didn’t help (Suter) - no calls, as 97 is struggling. Is Boldy doing another Fiala and disappearing come playoff time, that’s another narrative. As for the officiating, letting three penalties in the first period go on Dallas, then pulling out the whistles on marginal calls ( both ways) favors Dallas. They (Dallas) are living off the odd man situations and welcome every call, even 4-4. It’s not that the a wild are being undisciplined, it’s the officials that are changing within the series, even games. When they let the game go and players play, G3, the Wild dominate as we are wearing down their forwards. When they start calling ticky tac calls, it’s all lost. Same for G1, everyone was talking about how Dallas found their game and was dominating, really only after 4 straight penalties were called from the mid third period through the OT’s. Lastly, losing every draw on every PP and PK is also a big killer.
Well said 🫡 you nailed it. Only thing, hopefully Boldy breaks out in game 5, he has had some good opportunities and great plays that led to momentum shift which led to goals. Quite amazing play from a barely 22 year-old player. Can not wait to see what comes of game 5!
@@HotDishSports ya, I love some of the comments ripping the kid. He also need to do the three words embedded in my head from my youth, “hit the net”. You can add expletives if need be, that depended on the coach but he missed a few open looks.
Hahaha yes.
When you watch the game, you feel the game is rigged. Starting to look like basketball!
Yes, we want penalty calls, not fouls and flops (both sides)
Ya the refs made the wild special team terrible.
NHL just maximizing its profit revenue by steering small market teams to their demise.
Haha, however we think this team is talented enough to fight through and win even with adversity 🫡
The problem is that the league's credibility suffers. Its so obvious how hard the officials work to keep Bettman's pet projects Vegas and Seattle relevant and present game after game. Its almost cringily obvious.
I hope we never hear this is actually true, but rather they are just incompetent haha, but who knows
"If they want to play that way, then we gotta make them pay"
Stars aren't stupid! They know they rank top 5 in Pp while Wilds rank 27th. They out smarting them. Playoffs is a game of chess not checkers! No pun intended
Love the pun. And yeah, the stars flopping attempts are def getting in the heads of the Wild and the refs. And it is working. I don’t blame them, you gotta do what you gotta do in playoff hockey! But things are getting wild (pun intended)!
WILDS SEEING STARS! (PUN INTENTED)
Your channel is based on Minnesota...Got luck
Good point. We need it. Some days can be tough as a MN Sports fan.

Absolutely horrible
Ouch
@@HotDishSports the officials not you 😂
Yikes had no idea the refs were already let go, that’s really bad. Just goes to show that the league does not care, why would they expect them to do anything different in this series…?
Right! Crazy!
I don’t think this is accurate
I posted a comment explaining what I think
Stars fan here. I agree that the officiating has been awful. The reds should not have an effect on the outcome of the game, and i feel like their impact has been felt on every game. What was supposed to be an amazing grinding grueling and series has been stolen by the refs and that’s all people are talking about. I hope the last three games aren’t the same way. Minnesota is actually my second favorite team, but go stars!
Respect 🫡 we agree with all above, and wish we did. Or have to talk about it. But here we are haha (both sides)
You know those phantom calls were to try and even up the pp mins because of that Tampa game..... so stupid
Yes, unfortunate that had to infect our series also… but Hey, I guess that is hockey, let’s those refs are gone for both teams sake, and then hope Wild in 6 💪
@@HotDishSports I just hate that the narrative for the series is focused on bad officiating. Not fair for Dallas or the Wild
Agree fully, I wish we didn’t have to even discuss it. But here we are haha
I am curious on how accurate the claim is they were let go from one series to another….it doesn’t really make sense. Each game the Wild have played there has been a different officiating crew, that goes for every other team right now. No team has gotten the same crew twice. I would understand that if the maple leafs and the wild had the same crew for 3 games and then all of a sudden the crews switched. But whats even more crazy to me is that Rank and Pollock haven’t even worked a Maple Leaf Vs Tampa game this post season….you claim you are giving us the facts yet what you are giving us is not accurate.
As far as Kevin Pollock when he had the premature whistle in the Nashville series back in 17’. I don’t think it’s fair to start cherry picking calls from previous years to try and justify that he’s a bad official and say he has a track record. If this is the case you could bring up many instances such as Kelly Sutherland missing a trip in the 19’ SCF between Boston and St Louis and he’s one of the best in the business. Or even in the 2020 SCF when the hand pass was missed by all four….so all of these officials have “track records”? Does this mean none of those officials should be able to work the post season?
My point is that most referees have terrible calls in previous years and to say that they have a “history” and for that to be held agaisned them I just don’t think is fair. Just my opinion. I do agree with some of the points you guys make but not being a fan of either team im just looking at it from another angle. Both of the calls made were not penalties.
In Game 1 Of the Tampa vs leafs series the penalties were 6-4 in favor of (Tampa)
Game 2 - 6-3 (Toronto)
Game 3 - 3-3 (Even)
Struggling to find where there was a 8-3 difference, even if there was, how many of those were real penalties?
Toronto Vs Tampa Series Referees
Game One: Wes McCauley, Freddy L’Ecuyer
Game Two: Eric Furlat, Trevor Hanson
Game Three: Chris Rooney, Jake Brenk
Wild Vs. Dallas Referees
Game One: Dan O’Rourke, TJ Luxmore
Game Two: Chris Rooney, Graham Skilliter
Game Three: Gord Dwyer, Jon Mclsaac
I understand the fan base if frustrated, but dont start handing out false info to try and prove a point.
If any of my info is wrong please let me know
Hey! Correction: Same set of refs. Just one year ago. GREAT CATCH! Total accident slip. We always want to be accurate and accountable. We appreciate the amazingly detailed fact checking, you rock. We of course want to be accurate, we made a slip up on our end (whoops, we are human like the refs), however the only fact we had wrong was that it was last year not this year… apologies but everything else is accurate. All of the rest of our info and ref rating analysis were accurate. Thank you for understanding!! 🙂
Honestly, you are amazing and we are very impressed with the detailed response! Shoot us a DM on Twitter, and maybe we could have you on as a guest one of these days as the playoffs continue :)
To be fair, the bad reffing by them went both ways. Both interferences in the game (one on the wild, one on dallas) shouldn't have been called. Foligno got a phantom trip called on him, but the 2nd wild goal was off a power play that was caused by another phantom tripping call. I agree the reffing was atrocious, but it was bad for dallas too. The problem is that the wild cannot keep their composure (evident in game 3 when they cried about dives and embellishments all night, and then Reaves got an embellishment penalty) and they can't cash in on their opportunities, whereas Dallas can. Three breakaways, no goals, equal penalties, one goal, and one goal given to Dallas right out of the box. The refs should be fired, they disrupted the flow of the game, but it was bad both ways.
Yes, def not ideal that they were moved from one series for bad calls to another series in the same season. Feels like they should have some backups ready to go…
CRY CRY CRY. It has gone both ways. game 3 two boarding calls were missed against the Wild. YES, the officiating is terrible in almost all of the games this playoff season. To me it was made even, but the refs are playing with player safety and it is getting ugly. Soon players are not going to be available next season. Also, I am sick of the Suter nonsense. We get it there is bad blood with Suter and the Wild, but cross-checking has been missed both ways. Quit sitting there acting like you are the Bruins and are overwhelmingly the better team. Have some class. Foligno just made it so much harder on the wild, because they have made it clear they don't want the bad officiating talked about. Don't agree with it, but wait until playoffs are over.
We agree the officiating is not great on both sides… that’s the issue, and it is not fun for anyone when bad call impact a series.
@@HotDishSports No, I know that. I mainly refer to both Foligno and Reaves (talking about his I am coming for you talk about Suter) and get to make statements as if it's only happening to the Wild and Stars are told to "shut up and Learn the game". Especially when we are talking about the hit on Pavelski. You can't tell me if roles were reversed you guys and other fans wouldn't be seeking retribution despite Toronto deeming it "within the .6 window". Stars have taken far more dangerous no calls from what I have seen.
@@Godsofolympia1 Bud. Crying about crying takes the fun out of both the partisan crying (which both teams arguably have a right to) and the actual debate. Why come to a Wild-themed discussion that naturally focuses on the gripes of this fanbase just to insult Wild fans for being just as upset as Dallas fans? You've got points there, but the sparks are flying so furiously off the axe you're grinding that it comes off as petty. These teams are playing radically different games, and from the perspective of each the reffing has been egregious. Neither is wrong here, much as you'd like to convince Wild fans that we alone are being the classless bunch.
@Niclas The Stars have been given zero respect despite our efforts. My point was simply to express that. We are told we don't understand the game and to essentially leave the sport to those just south of the Canadian border. I am not crying about crying. Mearly expressing the hypocrisy that we are supposed to roll over and take it, and when we say something about it, we are met with "just another stars fan." I have never felt so much animosity from a fan base simply because they hate one player and the fact that it used to be their franchise in my life. It all started with a hit that should have simply just been reviewed. Would have been happy either way if it was simply just reviewed, but it only predicated the already general nation that the whole of the NHL simply does not like us. I'm not sure if you are familiar with Texas pride, but it is one that is typically not understood unless you are a native Texas. We take pride in anyone who represents Texas in any capacity. So that means when Pavs gets taken out without as much as a simple review it leaves a bitter taste and like is said to add to it most of the Minnesota fan base just chalks it up to "you don't understand hockey you are Texas". There is a lot more to it that I won't get to, because you will probably write that off to because you have know clue what it's like to be a Stars fan, just like I don't know what it's like to be a Wild fan. I'm just looking for the respect we deserve, especially considering the teams Jim Nill has put together now and in the past. To sum it up, put yourself in our shoes (if you can. and that's not a threat) and tell me you wouldn't try to squeeze out whatever respect you could when the team you represent has earned it.
To add: I think Minnesota has played really well in this series, and has been some of the best hockey I have seen in a hot minute. Great job all the way around for the Wild for playing their hearts out. I am proud that we share similar blood in the sense that the Stars used to be the North Stars.
Umm, it was reviewed, and changed from a major to a minor.
There is no way you can watch that game and feel the Wild were better. You lost all credibility there. There were bad calls/no calls for each side. The Wild had chances that they didn't capitalize on. Weak to blame the refs.
As we said, Mr. Lakeville MN in net (Otter) beat the Wild yesterday. Wild out played the rest of the stars in our opinion. Refs not full blame for wild loss, but they were an issue for both teams and had impact on game, def not a fan of that for either team. We appreciate your comment though, congrats on an amazing talented goalkeeper from Minny 😜 jk good luck to stars fans in Game 5! Love the feedback
Wild have had more PP's than Dallas in that game and in series overall. Phantom call on Dadanov. Phantom trip on Zuc that leads to a goal. Not a word. But cry about bad officiating and not the wilds 56% PK. How about complaining about your team running around worrying about hitting instead of scoring goals? Lmfao.
Oh no, if you listen we have been saying also that the stars are capitalizing and we are not. Hopefully Wild step it up in Game 5 💪 great to see that 9 different players on wild have scored goals so far. Hopefully now Boldy and Kaprizov can be themselves and light the fire 🔥
WELCOME TO THE PLAYOFFS BOYS!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
